Slimboyfat: Why did you decide to write a topic on this site saying you were going back to the Jehovah's Witnesses?
by silentbuddha inthe topic concerning why the other user allows jw's by to eat is what prompted this thought in my mind.
maybe i am not remembering this correctly, but seem to remember a number of years ago that you decided to stop posting here and then all of a sudden you posted that this was an apostate website, you didn't want to be here, and that you were returning to jehovah.
( i may be slightly off, but it was something along those lines.. i am just wondering if you ever offered an explanation of why you did that?.

Balaamsass2 Sydlik was probably the most tolerable of them all. He hated soccer and somehow rationalized watching boxing…
There were some fun times, but far more strange ones lol

Watchtower SlangJamaican Patois: Gods son came fe mash up the world😂
by Diogenesister in🤦♀️this 25 million different languages thing is getting ridiculous.
this link is hilarious!
they've only gone and translated into jamaican patois and boy this isn't just translation, they're literally using slang....what next?

The problem with these translations is that you can have 3 million people who speak these dialects but no one reads them. Haitian Creole is a different beast.
3 million people speak patwa, but no one reads it. It’s frowned upon in school and in professional environments. Please go find your nearest Jamaican and ask them to write any sentence you choose in patwa. If you ask 3 people they will all be different.
30 million black Americans speak AAVE but none of them write it or would even know how. They are wasting ink and paper creating literature that people are laughing at because they can’t understand why someone is doing it.

The idea of Jamaican patois being considered something that should be put in its written form is funny to me because where does this stop?
Is there going to be a Trinidadian patois next then a St. Vincent patois, a Nevis patois, a Bahamian patois, insert any other Caribbean island thereafter.
Each one of these islands has a very distinct patois, the only reason that the Jamaican patois is the focus is because Jamaica is considered the most popular Caribbean island, and they have the loudest voices of any island in the Caribbean.
There is no school in Jamaica that you can go to where you would be able to learn this currently. You can’t even use patois in school in the class. It’s literally considered the same as AAVE or Ebonics in the United States.
The average person who picks up that magazine knows exactly what’s being said if they already speak English.
Wi waahn yu fi kom a tuu speshal miitn we yu no afi pie no moni
We want you to come to a special meeting where you don’t have to pay money

My wife is Jamaican, and the vast majority of her family still live there. When she saw this, she asked me after a quick glance why I wanted her to try to read something in Spanish. I’ve been told her to look closely at it and it took her close to 30 seconds to realize what it was.
She said this makes no sense because everyone in Jamaica learns to read in normal English. This would be the equivalent of learning another language. She then sent it to most of her family members who died laughing because most of them had no idea what they were looking at, and when they realized what it was, they were offended.

What made you look behind the jw curtain?
by Touchofgrey ini was listening to a lunchtime call in radio show about jws and the personal experiences of being disfellowshiped, and a former elder called in saying he was disfellowshiped for asking about jws and their involvement in the un in the 1990s ,and he just said look it up.. thinking that it was a made up lie ,so i looked it up and it was true even a letter confirming it from the un itself and that led me here and to jwfacts and further research into the history and teachings of jw and walked out the door about 5 years ago.

I kept wondering why the all powerful god liked and dealt with only one group of people. The bible seemed weird to me when i really focused on the fact that it all took place in a very small area when there were obviously people all over the planet that he chose to ignore.
God supposedly created Europeans, Africans, Asians, Tribal people yet for some reason he only seemed concerned with such a minute portion of people for so long. Seemed rather foolish. That plagued me. The final straw was when I was at an elders school and a grown man broke down during the part about pornography and admitted to everyone there that he watched porn for like a few days. The shit just seemed like a giant clown show.

L.A. D.A. Announces His Office Is Reviewing The Menendez Brothers' Conviction
by silentbuddha innot sure if anyone really remembers this case, it was huge at the time.
the very interesting point though about this was that at the time the parents were known to be very active in the jw religion.
i also believe that the father may have been an elder(i could be mistaken, though).
