my notes from letter read at service meeting
by DB inat tonight's service meeting, a letter was read concerning child molestation and the society's policy.. to preface, i jotted down notes in the form of a brief outline.
also, the elder reading it said that the letter is primarily directed to jws for the purpose of answering questions that we may encounter.. here's my outline:.
god's people are happy, in stark contrast to this world.. one reason is that we respect bible's view of sexual matters.. we abhor child abuse.. we will not protect abusers, or sheild them from the consequences of their wicked acts.. we expect elders to investigate every case (report) of child abuse.. but, we congregation follows bible stipulation that there must be two or three witnesses to establish a matter.. no congregation privilages extended to known child molesters.. elders are instructed to report abuse when required by state law.. people have the "absolute right" (my quotation marks for emphasis and to underscore that it is a quote from the letter) to report child abuse to the authorities.. since 1981 several articles published dealing with with matter in wt and awake.. when circumstances made the need clear, we have strengthened our policy over the years.. we feel that our bible-based policy is strong.. some additional notes: there were several scriptures cited and read, i did not jot them down.. well, i did note 1 tim 5:19 and 24. these verses were read after the comment abuout the need for two witnesses.

did they say anything about the TV show or they just red this paper without mentioning why?

Mars has water, what if it did/does have life?
by deceit inquote from cnn-.
"in a perspective piece in this week's science magazine, jim bell, professor of astronomy at cornell university, suggests these initial findings might just be the "tip of the martian iceberg," and that there may be large subsurface water ice deposits on our neighboring planet".
"mars was perhaps a lot like the earth a long time ago, early in its history.

cited:It was known as early as 1872 (Tschermak) that the
Shergotty meteorite was a basalt that formed under
relatively oxidizing conditions, but it wasn’t until 1979
(Walker et al., Nyquist et al.) that it became apparent
to meteoriticists that the relatively young SNC*
meteorites may have come from the planet Mars. This
hypothesis was explained in detail by Wood and
Ashwal in 1981, but it wasn’t until Bogard and Johnson
(1983) found gas trapped in glass in shergottite
EETA79001 identical in composition to Martian
atmosphere (as measured by Viking experiments), that
it became widely accepted that SNC meteorites came
from the planet Mars. Also in 1983, Clayton and
Mayeda showed that SNC meteorites formed their own
subgroup on an oxygen isotope diagram with their own
fractionation line separate from that of the Earth or
HED parent bodies. In 1984, Becker and Pepin found
that nitrogen isotopes and N/Ar ratios were also typical
of Viking results, clinching the argument (figure I-1).
In 1995, Marti et al. found similar results in glass in a
second SNC meteorite (Zagami).
Briefly, Martian meteorites are igneous rocks (basalts
and cumulates) that have been shocked to various
degree. However, they are not badly brecciated. Table
I-1 gives the modal mineralogy. All, accept one
(ALH84001), have young igneous ages. They were
apparently blasted off Mars over the last 16 million
years, judging from their cosmic-ray exposure ages.
Several were seen to fall and were collected, others
were recovered from the ice in Antarctica. -

asteroids from mars impacted on earth. they were sent into space probably by large asteroid impacts on the mars surface.
about life on mars: that is highly speculative and anything but likely. nevertheless it is possible. how cells form is still a big mystery and no one knows how likely it is to occur.

suggestion
by Realist inhow about all abuse victims get together and sue the wt for a billion dollars of reparation (in this country certainly a reasonable amount!
...similar to how lungcancer patients sued the tabacco industry.
that should put the wt out of buisness!!!

Dateline---That was It?
by Lindy inwell, i am bucking the general consensus here that everything went well on dateline.
i thought it was fine as far as it went but looking at it through the local jw eyes it will not get what you all and i hoped for.
the show didn't put proof on all the cases we all know about.

what exactly was the point of this show? that the WT didn't report the cases to the police? and don't forget that was based on scriptures.
i think this show will not convince a single JW to leave that cult.
