eyeslice,
your words are spiritual food!!!
hope you are right about the WT !!!
personally, i am more of a lurker than a poster, which i guess is because i am still very much on the fringes of the organization.
although many here have become bitter due to their experiences in the truth, i am sure that many of us look back on some really great times we had.
there was a time when there was a great feeling of optimism, new families (not just the odd individual here and there) were studying and coming along.

this is part of someone else's post;.
"we had a controversy recently related to this.
our last pastor (a great guy, a harvard grad and a ph.d.) said he would not marry persons with one address (they could live together and fornicate all they wished, they just could not flaunt it) and some condemned him for intolerance!
Hello Joanna,
sorry for that!
why don'T you want to move intogether before marriage?
carl has been dead for 6 years today.
his writings and his clear thinking have had a large impact on me and who i am today.
without people like carl i would still be completely lost in the world of mysticism.. i dedicate this thread to his memory:.
freeman,
are you serious....you work for NASA? whats your job?

D wiltshire,
absolutely right!
about the anthropic principle: this states that there is no blueprint...we exist because of chance...there is an infinite number of universes and we just happen to be in a complex one that allows intelligent life forms to develop. its a interesting philosophical idea but because of lack of evidence just a possibility.
ThiChi,
it doesn't matter much if the universe is 18, 15 or 12 billion years old.
i really like this girl who ive been told is a jw.
im not sure about jw's and their beleifs of dating so i have a few questions.. 1) are jw's allowed to date outside their religion?.
2) what are jw's beleifs on pre-marital sex?.
Delicious_Daniel,
oh my god!!!!!!!!!! for christ (and your own sake) don't fall in love with that girl!!!!!!!!!!!!! RUN RUN RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is our Universe millions or billions of years old? No! And little by little, methodological errors and scientific uncertainty are bearing this out.
amazing how someone can come from the above article to this conclusion!?! its like weighing yourself, noticing that you are 10% lighter than you expected and concluding from that that you have no weight at all...amazing reasoning.
why god doesn't have a ph.d
1. he had only one major publication.. 2. it was in hebrew.. 3. it had no references.. 4. it wasn't published in a refereed journal.. 5. some even doubt he wrote it by himself.. 6. it may be true that he created the world, but what has he done since then?.
8. the scientific community has had a hard time replicating his results.. 9. he never applied to the ethics board for permission to use human subjects.. 10. when one experiment went awry he tried to cover it by drowning his subjects.. 11. when subjects didn't behave as predicted, he deleted them from the sample.. 12. he rarely came to class, just told students to read the book.. 13. some say he had his son teach the class.. 14. he expelled his first two students for learning.. 15. although there were only 10 requirements, most of his students failed his tests.. 16. his office hours were infrequent and often held on limited access mountain tops.. 17. no record of working well with colleagues.

why would an all knowing master of space and time feel the irrepressible need to be adored by mere insects (relatively speaking), and indeed punish them in the most absolute of terms if they fail in this task?
indeed it makes god seem very human, although rather immaturely so.
we expect such behavior from schoolyard bullies, megalomaniac dictators and small children who demand adoration from their beaten dogs.
LOL
is this a joke or for real???????
The author , who writes under the pen-name Harun Yahya, was born in Ankara in 1956. He studied arts at Istanbul's Mimar Sinan University and philosophy at Istanbul University. Since the 1980s, the author has published many books on political, faith-related and scientific issues. Harun Yahya is well known as an author who has written very important works disclosing the imposture of evolutionists.
and how well he is prepared to discuss scientific issues was demonstrated by the article posted above! LOL
talley,
just to make sure...that was a joke right?I was ambovolent about evolution until life experience, observation and occupation impressed upon me the wonders of genetics, development and birth. No contest in my mind - all life (plant & animal) has not been derrived from some grand accident, rather it was marvelously designed and implemented.
