the key to properly understanding the bible is remembering that it is all about the spirit.
whatever is spoken of in the bible no matter how literal it appears to be is intended to convey something of the spirit.
interesting post. your interpretation certainly makes much more sense than the WT interpretaion. just 2 questions:
a) what indicates that spirits exist? from a scientific standpoint their existence is highly unlikely. b) why would the writers of the bible have put everything in the form of rediculous stories instead of just saying what they meant?

my best friend got to see something that i would have loved to see.

is it really possible that JWs actually preach more and attend more meetings the more they hate it? how crazy! also why don't they talk to someone outside the orgaization about what they really think? wouldn't that be a great relieve like going to a psychologist?
everyone here seems to know a lot about jw history, but when i ask my friend (who was a convert) they don't seem to know too much.
do they teach a church history class on sundays or during the week?
(just curious...seems funny that my friend would convert from catholicism without knowing too much of the history)

well that is of course correct.
however, bush has pretty much the main US media at his disposal...they tell the people what the right thing to do is (attack iraq). so he does it on a more subtle level than hussein.
i am not so sure that the US industry would care about people starving in the US if they would get a profit out of it.
hussein is a unscrupulous dictator...there is no question about it... the only question is are the people that are in control of the US much better than he is!? i really doubt it.

i didn't say the US is nuking everyone they see. but the fact is that their boms have killed more people since WWII than anyone else has.
i find it a little weird that a nutcase like bush is considered to be qualified to control nukes while hussein is not. what makes you think hussein has a more agressive foreign politics than the US? i am not a big fan of this guy but i think there is no sign that he would attack anyone (the watr between iran and iraq was bound to happen in any case, and he invaded kuwait only after they had drilled to the iraq side to get theiroil and after the US embassador gave green light for the invasion). also why in the world would he use a nuclear weapon against isreal as long as he is not attacked? would that make sense? certainly not since it would be his death sentence!
i agree with you that israel wouldn't hesitate to use a nuke against anyone of its neighbors...one more reason why i think the US should get out of that area!

it is a wide held misunderstanding among religious fundamentalists that entropy makes evolution impossible. this is simply wrong and can only be attributed to an apparent lack of knowlegde in physics as well as biology.
thermodynamics tells us that the overall entropy of the universe increases. this does NOT mean that you cannot get a decrease of entropy in a system. a simple example is the formation of an ordered ice cristal from former randomly moving water molecules. the formation of the cristal causes an increase of entropy in the universe (system+surrounding) however there is a decraese in entropy in the water molecules that form the cristal (system). this decrease is overcompensated by the increase in the surroundings.
