The WTS would like nothing more than to stifle the advancement of technology. Ask metatron for articles, modern medicine is performing surgeries that restore hearing and eyesight, when JW's want you to rely solely on the impotent tribal god Jehovah to do it in the future (which of course never comes, meanwhile you better be peddling magazines to keep a good public image)
Most importantly though, the world of information available via the Internet has led to a mass exodus.

The Watchtower Society is one of the best spin-doctors I know. Given their history and practices this is a requirement for their survival.
Even IF the DF'ing policy was banned by government intervention, which I do not see happening in the foreseeable future, the JW's would use that to their advantage.
Can you see it? Preaching from the platform that "Satan's world is clamping down on God's chosen people." They would use such a circumstance to incite a temporary frenzy among membership. (since the good ole "end is right around the corner anyday now" has become quite stagnant, and why pass up and opportunity to ensnare more recruits or place more magazines and thereby make more $$$) They would as always attempt to make it look as if they are being persecuted. Then, in accordance with "theocratic warfare" they would instruct loyal Dubs to shun people anyway. They would teach them how to go about it so as to skirt around the law.
now, the war is over, the weapons were not used and of course have not been found.. how threatening could they be if they did not even use them when being invaded by a massive force (of the countries they hate)?!

I think the most telling tale has been watching the politicians backtrack themselves. The post above with quotes from them is priceless.
First of all it was a guarantee that WMD exist. That was the sole justification for the war. Now they are saying they might exist, might have been destroyed, or they simply do not know. HMMM....
I was watching This Morning with George Stephanapoulous (sp?) yesterday and they had Senator John McCain (R) Arizona as a guest. When confronted with the question about WMD, he said the war was now justified for him by seeing people dancing in the streets. Is it not a joyful occasion to see Iraqis liberated from a tyrannical dictator?
While that may be good, that was not the reason for the war. He was trying to incite emotions in people and deflect the question. Going by his logic (and the logic used now by the Bush Administration) If that is the case, the US better barge into North Korea, Iran, Syria, Yemen, and a thousand other countries with cruel dictatorships.
As it appears currently with no WMD's being found. The Bush Administration is guilty of manipulating intelligence reports and waging a war under false pretenses. An impeachable offense IMHO.

Every effort is made to help wrongdoers. But if they are unrepentant, the congregation needs to be protected from their influence. The Bible clearly states: 'Remove the wicked man from among yourselves.' (1 Corinthians 5:13) Those who formally say they do not want to be part of the organization any more are also avoided. What of a man who is disfellowshipped but whose wife and children are still Jehovah's Witnesses? The spiritual ties he had with his family change, but blood ties remain. The marriage relationship and normal family affections and dealings can continue. As for disfellowshipped relatives not living in the same household, Jehovah's Witnesses apply the Bible's counsel: "Quit mixing with them."
I see how they tried to dance around it and insinuate that someone who "fades" is not shunned. But, as has been proven over time, the JW's change up the website policy every few months. Before it was those who leave the faith are not shunned. Now they proudly proclaim that the DF and DA'ed are AVOIDED (like the plague) which constitutes shunning.

i imagine that there must be quite a few bethelites that have been there for many years, and because of the internet or their own experience while working at bethel, that causes them to know that this is not the "truth".
but because they have gotten old and have no place else to go, and so make beleive they are still with the program.

As we learned in COC, the GB operates in a majority rule fashion. This means that at various times not all GB members are voting in complete agreement. If your statement above had been applied prior to 1980, Ray Franz would have been among those targeted for retribution even though he did not always vote with the others also Swingle and others who did not vote to DF Ray Franz would have been targeted.

Nevertheless, even if they did not entirely agree with the vote, by their presence and absence of action they condone it. To condone such Watchtower teachings and "law" as the blood doctrine, which kills innocent people, including children, every year, is unforgivable. The blood on their hands is so thick that nothing could ever remove it in a thousand lifetimes.
Today, we do not know who is for or against the blood policy or the other policies which are unChristian. It could very well be that if someone took revenge against some of the GB they could be killing the very brothers who sympathize with them.

I am a bit perplexed by the response from people expressing dislike for the post.
Is it not a bit hypocritical? I mean I see naked pictures posted on this site, sexual innuendos tossed daily, foul-language and insults, political debate discussing murders and atrocities, and this guy mentions a hypothetical situation that could VERY realistically happen and people get bent out of shape. The topic is very much Jehovah's Witness related, and this is a JW discussion board last time I checked. No one said all JW topics would be green and fuzzy and warm.
In no way am I CONDONING this type of action, but the possibility that it could happen is very realistic given the environment of membership and the emotions it would invoke if one realized they were deceived for such a long period of time (not counting potentially losing family members and loved ones etc.)
Stop being childish and complaining about the content of the post. If you do not like it, do not respond to it or read it. I would feel differently if wiltshire encouraged such behavior or expressed a desire or intention to commit a violent act himself, but after reading his post, no where is that seen.
