I will not teach her to do mischievous little things. Until she's a little older.
Considering the fact that she is the seed of the seed of your loins, I'm sure that she will need absolutely no teaching with regard to mischievous things. Just remember....she is young....you are not....she will be faster than you.....examine everything closely before reclining....or touching...or eating....or wearing.

Shytears, I haven't visited the board in awhile, and I don't think we've "met." However, ****HUGS**** and good thoughts are on their way to you.
I'm sure that you must feel utterly devastated right now, but don't despair. The "world" is not a horrible place, and there are many nice people out there with whom you can associate. Try to look on this as an opportunity to grow, to learn, to experience all of the wonderful things that you have not been allowed to do so far.
Take some time and just relax. Consider what you would like to do with your life, and then do it. There are many great things out there for you to experience.
In any event, do NOT begin to think of yourself as horrible or "sinful." The JW modus operandi is to strip a person of any dignity and try to make them feel isolated and alone. Don't allow them to do this to you.
One thing that will probably be helpful for you is to continue to post here.....talk about your feelings....don't bottle them up....and let others help you through this.

Do meetings help Depression?
by Gadget ini read this on another thread:when i asked if they knew my son had clinical depression, they said, well, even he says he feels better when he studies and goes to meetings, and shrugged their shoulders.).
i've been told this by my ex too, that when she attends meetings it makes her feel better.
anybody else noticed this?

The only time in my life that I suffered from depression was while I was an active Witness. Did going to the meetings help ease the depression? Yes, about as much as a bandaid cures a ruptured artery.....it might hide the flow of blood for a short while, but soon the problem becomes evident again.
As others have mentioned, attending meetings is a short-term "fix" for a deeper problem. Addiction is addiction, whether it is to drugs, alcohol, or religion. If you've been told that the meetings will "help" depression and you are addicted to that religion, then you will experience a temporary lifting of the depression when you do what you are expected to do. Not going to meetings adds guilt and makes the depression worse, so attending meetings assuages those guilt feelings....until the next meeting time rolls around. Attending meetings, however, does absolutely nothing to solve the root problem.
Oddly enough, after making a complete break from the JWs, I found that I no longer had feelings of depression....even though I had been on the verge of suicide several times while active. Go figure, eh?

Have you ever honestly had Jehovah ansure your prayer?
by Singing Man inyes have you ever honestly, had jehovah ansure your prayer in a way that told you it was from him and not some trick of a wanting heart?

This is just so typical of me.....haven't had time to read or post for weeks, and I come back to a thread wherein I'm sure I'll get sliced, diced, and nicely marinated. Ah, well.....after posting so long at Beliefnet, I guess I'm used to it. LOL
As a JW, I can't honestly say that I had any prayers answered. However, JWs aren't really supposed to pray for anything other than things that will help them to become better salespe.....er....Christian Witnesses of Jehovah. After leaving, however, I spent a long time not praying for anything (mainly because I was inactive and felt unworthy....damn brainwashing, donchaknow.) Eventually, however, I came to a point in my life where I was feeling very discouraged about things, and I ventured a prayer....well, actually, more of a conversation...and I received an answer.
Since then, I have often received answers to prayers. Is it a coincidence? It could be. It could also be that prayer is a type of meditation that can help one to focus their energies better to accomplish what needs to be done. Whatever it is, I have received what I have asked for, and sometimes in rather unusual ways that I would have never conceived of on my own.

What if the WTBTS ran the United States of America?
by Yizuman insaw this on the carmforums and thought this is an interesting question..... .
what if the governing body of the wtbts ran the country instead of our present government?.
would we have our religious freedoms?.

Oh, yes, and remember that the Society has already stated that the only reason they aren't stoning those considered to be apostates is because the worldly laws will not permit them to do so. If they made the laws......

To get a really good idea of what it would be like, read The Handmaiden's Tale.

My apologies to everyone
by TipToe ini didn't know this was an " ex" board...i'm very embarrassed right now.
i didn't mean to hurt anyone here especially if some of you have been victims of sexual abuse.
i was enraged yesterday by what i saw on tv and felt i had to say something...wrong board loll ...so sorry

DBYA, no need to apologize. It's good to know that people are finally seeing past the veneer of the Watchtower Society and are able to recognize what this organization is all about. Perhaps there will be fewer victims of this cult in the future as people become aware of what is really going on.

Haven't seen this yet, but I intend to purchase it as soon as the video is available. Phar Lap is also a great movie.....but, then again, ANY horse movie is great as far as I'm concerned. Need you ask why? LOL
