Saw my first JW literature cart
by undercover ini saw a jw literature cart, and two dubs standing behind it this weekend.
they set up at a popular well attended event in a small town that brings thousands of people from around the country.
even though i've been out and away from jws for some time, and no longer identify as one of them, and the people i was with had no clue, it was a bit embarrassing to see the cart and cult zombies with it.

When I've seen them they have been standing by their carts, young pioneer types, very engaged in conversation, gossip probably. Way off to the side, nobody was going to approach them. Total waste of time, but then again, what do I care if their meaningless literature doesn't get placed. They get to report their hours and feel holy. -

"Normal family affections and dealings" continue - If only?!?
by LHS123 ini am new to this forum - it is only a couple of weeks since i have allowed myself to acknowledge and research my doubts.
i am trying to be fair by reading both sides of the story and considering jw official explanation of confusing matters.
one of the issues i have been looking at is shunning - and i was shocked to see the misleading information about shunning on the jw.org website: .

LHS, totally! As someone else said about Ray franz, he felt he was rejoining the human race.
I started actually TALKING to people, without reservation. Shoot even witnesses don't talk to eachother without reservation...scared to offer opinions, scared to reveal something about themselves that shows you don't agree with the society 100% on EVERYTHING, No surprise it becomes a lot easier to make real friends when you leave. The only challenge is not looking like a total weirdo when you want to talk to everyone about this cult religion you were raised in and left... I've learned to tone it back, but just did it again last night, eek! Not totally out of that phase yet apparently...

Help prevent sons indoctrination.
by WasOnceBlind inok so here is the deal, as some of you who might have read my first post might remember, my parents are jw's while i myself have faded.
i have not told them that i don't believe in the borg and i have done my research and concluded it's a bunch of crap.
the main reason i haven't is because it would break my moms heart and probably send her into a deep depression (she suffers from depression).

If the only kangaroos to survive the flood were in the boat, how come they are only in Australia? -

The elders came to talk about my facebook comment
by cookiemaster inso, not long ago i've told you guys how one of my only two jw friends saw my comment against the borg and called me about it.
well, the little fraker also called the elders to tell on me.
i know i've been a huge idiot for posting a comment about jw's on facebook, but nonetheless i did it and what's happened, happened.. two idiot elders came all the way from the nearest congo, 30 miles away to talk to me about it.

Very tough situation because I know you don't want to tell your parents how you feel about the religion. My parents know how I feel about the religion but would still show videos to my kids. It had the opposite effect they intended, but my kids were old enough at the time to have their own minds about it.
This is awful for you, because your son is there every single day after school!! For three hours!! And I know how expensive after school daycare is, so you feel you have no other options. All you can do without changing your situation is keep talking to your son, make sure he stays skeptical about it. He sounds pretty skeptical already so that's good!

Wow that's a good CO! I wonder if there is more to the story. Maybe they went on a drunken spree while in SF,...or visited the gay scene ;). -

The Divine Name in the NT: Some Reflections
by Let go of fear ini've been fascinated with this topic for some time now, almost to the point of obsession.
after researching the issue for several years, i have come to a conclusion/theory that i would love to receive some feedback on.
this theory of mine is one that will be somewhat unsettling to both those who believe the divine name was used in the original nt scripts as well as those who believe it wasn't.

I think you are very close, maybe even completely correct. -

Went to a Catholic Funeral Today
by Captain Schmideo2 init was for a dear friend of the family that i have known all my life.now, bear in mind that i was born and raised jw, so my experience with catholic ceremonies can be counted on three fingers, a wedding, a "regular" mass, and this funeral mass.once they got down to the actual speaking about the deceased, i felt emotionally involved, but prior to that, i was watching and had questions about aspects of the services (these i have seen in common for all three times i have been in an rc church):why the "sing-song" voice during the prayers?
does god hear it better if you sound all spooky tenor?i observe that every time a reading from one of the gospels takes place, it is preceded by a big musical number:"alleluiah!
alleluiah"( "and nowwwwwwwwwwwwwww, heeeeeeeeeeeeeere's jesus!".

Ecan 6, I've never been to a 'beautiful' witness funeral, they are all as superficial. I am really surprised you have.
but I'm especially surprised they didn't escort out that daughter who got up to speak AT THE PODIUM!!!! MY GOD, ISNT THAT SACRILIGIOUS???! Lol....I'm cant believe any woman got away with that !!! Even us little girls after the meeting, when we were playing a bit on the stage, when we walked up to the podium to see what it was like, we were always told to get away.
