How Come the Watchtower does not admit "We Don't Know Anything About Bible Prophecy" and come clean?
by PokerPlayerPhil inso many of us have been caught up in the negative effects this religion placed over our lives and those who we love very much.
i am the first one to tell my kids "i don't know s&^^ about this or that subject", if the watchtower is truly our brother or spiritual mother why don't they tell us the following questions we all have asked them?.
1. we screwed up about 1914 and "life is short, go live your life to the fullest while maintaining justice and morality, don't hurt your fellow man by making his life screwed up!.

HP I didn't come to the same conclusion as you about God, but I so appreciate your post, you are a good potato!! :) and I feel your frustration, having to go through the motions and having a believing wife. It's not at all easy. I love your personality.
For me, I did not stop believing in God, so to reconcile evolution and some problems i had with biblical passages, I became a nonfundamentalist Christian. It's really freeing.
If you choose atheism, you just have to live your life the best you can and make peace with that. I could have been a happy atheist I think, but in the process of leaving the religion I found Christ.

They only care about themselves......
by dubstepped ini've watched the reaction to the nepal disaster for the first time with eyes opened.
lots of comments about praying for the brothers and sisters affected.
the official release on the website references only the sister and her two children that died, along with the impact on the brothers there.

I love doctors without borders!! People who truly go to the worst crisis areas in the world (Ebola?) when the human instinct is to 'run! Run away!' -

Hey kairos, nice new avatar!
yeah, even if you could rise to be a CO, which is highly unlikely, you are still pretty voiceless to make any change.
Change will come eventually. Either they will get old/die out, lose too much money from litigation and lack of first world publishers/donators, or they will mellow out (for business reasons, no doubt) and become more mainstream.

DHOH, charity to help the suffering is just TOO WORLDLY!!! I mean that's shocking!!! You are being like everyone in the world. We are NOT going to give our precious money to HELP people, what are you thinking??? Of course we didn't like your link!! And get real, dont you know what you are doing is like pouring Dixie cups of water onto the sun??? This whole system is going DOWN, if you care about people REALLY, you need to do the real lifesaving work of placing literature. -

The poor and deprived life of JW children.
by Esse quam videri ini find it hard to believe that adults on this forum make such a big deal about not celebrating birthdays, x-mas, easter, halloween, etc, etc, etc.
i grew up as a jw kid and it actually made me feel good, being different from the other kids in school.
we went to meetings.

I like holidays in part because you feel part of the larger community. Going to the local christmas play, trick or treating in the neighborhood, Thanksgiving when everyone else is doing it...recognizing the passing of the seasons is natural. To do it in the greater community feels satisfying in sort of a primal way. -

They only care about the people going through illness, war, or natural disasters when they list statistics to try to prove the world is ending. Oh, it's Soooooo bad you have to come join us. But really, they don't care. Like pixel said, it's what they want. -

just wondering, how many wives of elders had influence?
by sowhatnow inid wonder how many wives of servants had the upper hand so to speak, on issues, that of course, were supposed to be private, yet gee lets be honest, husbands and wives talk.
its nature.
so if you were a wife of a servant how much did you get involved?

That's a great questions swn!
I feel like in some couples, where the wife had a particularly strong personality, and the husband a weaker one, the wife did have an influence and could find things out if she wanted to (let's face it, women can be quite the amazing Delilah style manipulator when they want to be.)
sofia, I am hoping something changes for you...that your husband experiences or sees something that rocks his little world, so that it will wake him up and you can be free.
