May’s ‘study WT’ admits having taught “far-fetched” ideas
by wheelwithinwheel innot on the front page, not in the study articles, but carefully camouflaged in the questions from readers on page 18 (watchtower march 15, 2015).

Well 'evidently' they read their own articles, and then have questions about them. Lol! -

The Divine Name in the NT: Some Reflections
by Let go of fear ini've been fascinated with this topic for some time now, almost to the point of obsession.
after researching the issue for several years, i have come to a conclusion/theory that i would love to receive some feedback on.
this theory of mine is one that will be somewhat unsettling to both those who believe the divine name was used in the original nt scripts as well as those who believe it wasn't.

Yeah me too giordano...it's not that I disliked the name jehovah (actually I think it's a beautiful name, I just don't use it anymore for the reason I stated above)... And it's not that I dont like the name Witnesses. But the two together is overkill!! Like 'hey get a mouthful of this, we're crazy!!' -

Lgof, the clincher for me was finding out that a monk used the vowels of Elohim and Adonai to supplement the consonants YHWH to create the name jehovah. It really is a made up name, not just a translation or pronunciation. -

I agree with joe. Also you can show her the 6 message autobiography I sent you on the subject (lol!! Sorry again!!). But it would be a good opportunity for seeing how she will react to the reality that will take over your lives sooner or later. Are you embarrassed you considered becoming a witness just for her? Don't be. What we do for love. Are you unsure of being totally honest with her about your motive? Best to talk about it openly now before it's too late. -

The poor and deprived life of JW children.
by Esse quam videri ini find it hard to believe that adults on this forum make such a big deal about not celebrating birthdays, x-mas, easter, halloween, etc, etc, etc.
i grew up as a jw kid and it actually made me feel good, being different from the other kids in school.
we went to meetings.

Judgmental attitudes!! Haven't we all had enough of that to last a lifetime already? Or maybe even enough to last forever??? Surely people who come here don't need any more of that heaped on to them. Let's all try to drop that witness habit and remember not every one is EXACTLY like ourselves and give people a break. -

Having a hard time holding my tongue...
by problemaddict 2 in...recently.. i'm normally pretty calculated.
my fade is done, my wife is out, my family and friends know, i maintain quite abit of the friendships of those closest to me jw or not, my family isn't shunning, and the few people we have kept it from for other reasons we are calculating how to break it.
(elderly matriarch that we are simply not going to tell so she doesn't die).. but.....all these facebook meme's and stupid feeds about reliance on jehovah, distraction, staying close to his organization, persevering against satan.....its driving me nuts.

I believe you can 'unfollow' these annoying witness friends of yours, you won't receive anything by them unless they tag you specifically. -

Can JWs now join Boy/Girl Scouts?
by ShirleyW ini get the google alerts for the jws and below is from one of the obits it sent out regarding a sister that was 76 years old when she died:.
joan attended beauty school and was a certified nurses assistant at the manor nursing home.
she was a member of the cowlitz congregation of jehovahs witnesses.

Def not ok for jws. I'm surprised the obit mentioned it since it was surely before she was a witness. maybe it was written by a relative who wasn't a witness. -

How Come the Watchtower does not admit "We Don't Know Anything About Bible Prophecy" and come clean?
by PokerPlayerPhil inso many of us have been caught up in the negative effects this religion placed over our lives and those who we love very much.
i am the first one to tell my kids "i don't know s&^^ about this or that subject", if the watchtower is truly our brother or spiritual mother why don't they tell us the following questions we all have asked them?.
1. we screwed up about 1914 and "life is short, go live your life to the fullest while maintaining justice and morality, don't hurt your fellow man by making his life screwed up!.
