What is Your Brainwashing IQ ? Take the Quiz
by Finkelstein inso how much do you understand about brainwashing, its application and effects ?
essentially lures people into its grasps and then brainwashes them for exploitation and manipulative purposes by using mental indoctrination techniques.. here's a quick quiz to take to answer some of these questions.

20 out of 21 for me. I got the red flag question wrong...but it was a tricky one.
I do think that creative, more artsy people can be brainwashed more easily than mathematical/scientific people.
Simon says, I don't know why you did so poorly. I thought of my mother the whole quiz. She is a true believer who says 'brainwashing is a GOOD thing! Our brains have been washed clean!!'
The quiz was so interesting. Witness publications do brainwash people. And I don't mean that in a good way. They can no longer think for themselves.

There's a lot of evidence Rutherford carried on an affair with his secretary. Actually she herself said this, didn't she? And rutherfords housekeeper would find things of hers in his bed, hair pins etc. -

Rutherford, Knorr or Franz - Who has the most influence on doctrine & process now?
by konceptual99 inso, i was thinking - who of the above still has the most influence on current wts doctrine and dogma?.
rutherford obviously created the smokescreen around 1914/607 but overall his work has been superseded i would suggest.. knorr created the various schools and they or their offspring still live on.
wasn't it during his tenure that all the blood doctrine, types/anti types (now chucked away of course), transplants etc came along?

I think Rutherford still has the strongest influence. Wasn't it he who initiated the huge insecurity in the org, the disfellowshipping practice? Also most of the vitriol seems to have started with him. Russel was just a nut who thought the world was ending. Rutherford had serious sociopathic ISSUES that still resound today. -

Does What We Say Here Or In Person Really Help JWs To Get Out Of The Religion?
by minimus inif we are in the congregation, do you think our comments or questions actually reach elders or others in the congregation?
do our comments on this board affect witnesses to the point of questioning their faith?

One month researching my doubts: my crucial issues with WTBTS - what are yours?
by Tornintwo inso after 20 years a convert, about a month ago i decided to start listening to my doubts and to do independent research about the wtbts teachings (naughty me).
as a result i have consolidated my position on various points and these are my major issues with the wtbts teachings, i am posting these to help myself figure things out (with your assistance) and hopefully to hear from others at their stage of drawing away from the gb - newbies' especially.
in the form of notes so hope you dont mind...child abuse.

I think it does. Definitely. But one thing I thought years ago, when I was still half a believer, was that many comments on this site matched the hateful slanderous attitude we were warned against. So that did turn me off. I preferred jwfacts and silent lambs back then. Outlaw I didn't like you back then, didn't appreciate the humor, sorry to say! I quite like it now that I've fully accepted the basic truths that inspire the humor.
I do think we shouldn't get too acerbic though, and remember to make our points in a fair light, so as to not turn off doubters with more belief than not. I need to remind myself of this too.

Would you like to live for ever on earth?
by fulano ini was discussing this topic with two friends of mine, ex jws, a few nights ago.
i think it would be boring after a while.
you can't smoke, have to drink with moderation (difficult in europe with all the wines).

I would like to first be in heaven, then be on earth. And forever sounds great. Seriously, there are so many things I want to do and enjoy doing that I will never get sick of. Just thinking about the massive pile of recipes I want to try would keep me busy for a long time. I'll never get to them in my lifetime, which is kind of depressing. But yeah. If it was under the elders rules and being told where to live etc? No freaking way. -

Hierarchy of Needs Revelation
by freemindfade inin my quest to always understand why jws get so f%$@ed up (yes oubliette, lets review lol) i discovered something today.
in speaking with one of my fellow heathen friends from this site i was talking about maslov's hierarchy of needs in an unrelated subject but i had an epiphany.
witnesses are held at the third level and never make it to the oh so critical top two sections.

Freeemind...you could even say many are stuck on the second level. Security of family? Employment?
Family can be taken away from you based on decisions by elders. Many are unemployed/underemployed based on 'putting the kingdom first.'
