Thanks for the correction oppostate!
Cojones :). I will not forget! Unless I want to tell someone they have some very big boxes. Then I will use cajones. :)
we pulled into a hotel parking lot saturday around 6pm on the return leg of a wonderful family vacation to new england - an then fate stepped in---a man in a suit got out of a car with the rest of a picture perfect family.
i immediately noticed all the name tags--- and my blood pressure spiked 50pts- damn!!
i was booked in a 4 story hotel full of jws-- the only time they took off the name tags was in the swimming pool- they were so proud of themselves.. at 6:30 am the hot water went cold in the wife's shower- what do you expect on the 4th floor when a herd of jws is trying to get ready at the same time?

i was told that today by a jw...no more to say.
Well, WITHOUT oranges, or any citrus, you can get scurvy...Which is characterized by terrible diarrhea, and NOBODY, gay or not, is thinking about sex when they have diarrhea.
Coincidence?
Oranges=no diarrhea=sexual desire=possible gay sexual desire
no oranges=diarrhea=No sexual desire=no possible gay sexual desire

i have no problem saying atheists and christians are equal.. but some people seem to have the belief that atheists are more likely to be morally good, or more likely to change the world for good, than christians and theists.. but what evidence do you have to support this claim?.
if atheism is what causes people to do great positive things for the world, then why weren't martin luther king, jr., william wilberforce, isaac newton, francis collins, barack obama, mother theresa, abraham lincoln, or john f. kennedy atheists?.
I do believe in the transformative nature of the Holy Spirit, I know it has transformed me. When I was a witness and before this transformation I was susceptible to doing really stupid, selfish, angry stuff. I still had deep compassion for suffering though, and tried to alleviate it when I could. Now that I'm not a witness, I actively try to improve the world, it's awesome to have the freedom to do that. But I also feel i could not make the same mistakes I used to. I feel that the Holy Spirit keeps me from it. I know this is considered hoo-hah by most people here, but I am speaking openly.
I strongly believe there are extremely good atheist people. Give their numbers time to grow and they will be impacting the world more in very positive ways, and I think self reliance is a positive force for improving the environment etc., instead of counting on God to 'fix the mess' someday.
But I also know that I'm a better person than I was before, and I attribute this to the Holy Spirit. I believe most people are good, whether believers or not. A believer is not in essence a better person than a nonbeliever. All I can say is, I needed the Holy Spirit, I received it, and am thankful for it.
i've been toying with the idea of just coming out and posting my name and location as an attempt to be available to locals that secretly browse the forum that have known me for up to 25 years.
( "reaching out", so to speak ).
i'm not da'd or df'd, so this most certainly could end in a dramatic confrontation.
the revised nwt has a footnote on john 1:1 showing that "a god" means "divine.".
also, their other publications are now much more boldly referring to jesus as divine:.
jesus--the way, the life, the truth (2015), page 306-307:.
But that does seem to be a new version of interpreting the Thomas exclamation 'my lord and my God!' Didn't they always used to say he looked at jesus when he said 'my lord' and looked to the heavens as he said 'my God'? I always thought that was as silly as their interpretation of 'you are Peter and upon this rock I will build my congregation.' They would say he pointed to himself as he said 'this rock.' Or the comma they put in 'truly I say to you today you will be with me in paradise.'
I alwaus had doubts about their interpretations, ridiculous insertions and assumptions about certain scriptures, but used to shrug them off one at a time. When you think about them cumulatively it's like good GRAVY why did I let these fools control my life.
were you a born in or a convert?.
i began studying with a pioneer sister when i was 20 years old, my life had just gone to total sh*t (my husband had recently left me, was all alone with our young babies, and was very depressed).
"the truth" sounded so wonderful, the jws were so helpful, kind and supportive.
I am surprised about these assembly men telling people to change their stories. But then, that's the way many things are in that religion, hurt individual people for the 'greater good.' They didn't care if you were treated as a liar by people who knew you better, as long as you made them look good and were 'encouraging' to the majority of people.
Muddy, you are adorable and I enjoyed reading this. Thanks kairos for bumping it!
this photo can be found in the april 15 , study edition article titled:.
why disfellowshipping is a loving provision.
just by looking at this image we can see how quickly the barrier between the congregation and former member is put up, after the announcement that this sister is no longer one of jehovah's witneses.
we just had a hummingbird in our house!
it flew in through an open door.
i had been cleaning my back patio and left the screen open for a few moments when i was putting stuff away.
How marvelous that you got to be so close to one of Jehovahs's most miraculous little creations.....
lol j/k j/k j/k!!!!!
Really tho, what a neat experience, and I'm glad it turned out well!!!
governing body member david splane has a new video on tv.jw.org where he talks about all the horrible things committed by martin luther and the protestant reformers.. his conclusion is that there has been no faithful and discreet slave on the earth during the past 1900 years (before 1919 i guess.).
he also says that maybe there were a few anointed on earth, maybe not.. he did add an interesting statement that he doesn't condemn the other churches just for misunderstanding the bible because the society has done that.. another odd point, was that he actually mentioned catholic missionary work in a somewhat positive light, while totally condemning the reformation views on predestination..
