JW Broadcasting is dying.
by John Aquila inonce a month about 15 to 20 elderly jw publishers would meet at the kingdom hall and one elder was assigned to set up the system so they could view jw broadcasting.
these publishers were long time pioneers, former elders, and long time publishers who know nothing about computers or the internet.
they are the last batch of those expecting the generation that saw 1914 or understood it--- to not die off.

This really boils my blood. The widows are supposed to be taken care of! This is the true duty of congregation servants, not asking lurid questions in little rooms!! -

Where are all these New Anointed Ones Coming from?
by John Aquila inback in the early 70s, right before 1975 we had about 7 or 8 thousand professed anointed.
cant remember the exact number.
but at every convention we were told that the end is close ---because---the number of anointed is getting smaller and smaller.

Or say out loud. I am so happy we no longer have to sit with our children through meetings talking about oral sex and bestiality. -

To DA or not to DA, that is the question?
by dubstepped inlet me preface this by saying that i don't expect anyone here to make my decision for me.
i do however note that like the bible says, in the multitude of counselors there is wisdom, and this is a huge decision, so i wanted to put it out there for discussion.
i really appreciate your words of wisdom, as this affects not just me but my wife also, as we find ourselves in the same boat.

Dubstepped I wrote what I wrote because when I was reading your post I thought 'did I write this??' You sound so much like me. I have a great, frightening memory too. It makes me be very conscientious of everything I do. I've lived my whole life trying to please everyone and be good. All the time. My mistakes in horrifying detail come to haunt me at night and I lay there saying to myself 'stupid! Stupid! Stupid!!' Lol. I wish I didn't have the memory I do! It would be so much easier to just forget. You said some things in your post that really resonated with me. I know how it feels to worry about what witnesses will see, and how anxious this can make you. The grocery cart thing is something I've learned very slowly, and it's subtle but powerful. To free my mind from the fears and replace that with the joy and confidence of freedom.
Regarding Syme's comments above, the more time that goes by that you're not an active witness, the less possibility that some issue needs to be 'handled.' Even if someone sees something and tells an elder, if you haven't been an active witness for years, they will probably ignore it. If you were trying to be an active witness that would be different.
I even go to another church, and I'm sure witnesses have recognized my distinctive car in the parking lot. I have to live my own life. Let them get all upset if they want to, but they have no more control over me than I let them. For me it was a gradual self realization.

Family Reuinion and Being Disfellowshipped (sorry...but it's long)
by babygirl30 init has been a long looong time since i posted on here, but never ceased reading all the posts and keeping up on the changes that have been going on!
but it just seems that now i have a need to get something off my chest, and this is the one place that will most definitely understand the topic at hand.
i have been disfellowshipped for about 8yrs now, and have dealt with the 'consequences' of that decision: all my so-called friends in the org left and i was also abandoned by my own family.

You deserve better. You deserve normal parents. None of this is natural. The religion has made normal imperfect people, hypocritical monsters. I hope they were embarrassed out of their minds!! And your sister probably felt the most uncomfortable of them all. She probably wanted to talk to you, no way she didn't. Maybe when she gets on her own two feet you can have a relationship with her and your niece. You were the shining star in this to all your extended family. Funny, your father was willing to make himself look bad to protect the religion! Well they certainly gave a witness. Not the kind they were hoping for, tho. -

Yeah fisherman, what harm was there in him answering the questions publicly? Why not? The questions were about him, not you. Don't be so sensitive. -

Live your life without fear. Putting birthday candles in your shopping cart at the grocery store, don't try to hide them. Instead of thinking 'oh what if a witness sees me' think 'if a witness sees me, who cares. I get to do this and they don't, because they're still mentally trapped but I'm free.' -

Were there 'security cameras' in dorm rooms? Did the doors have locks on them? Did you ever feel you had privacy? -

Monsters Inc. & The Org
by The Searcher inthe monsters inc. hierarchy taught its workforce to use scare tactics to achieve its goals.. it took sully & mikey to reveal that love & laughter was far more effective - and beneficial for everyone concerned!.
interesting concept, but it'll never catch on!

It's all about money, and who cares if it burdens the elders and min servs and publishers even more than they are already burdened. Anything to save a buck.
