Leaving the org and marriage possibly ending
by atacrossroads ini was raised a witness, baptized at 16, vacation pioneered, got married, etc.
i was very much your typical witness and believed it was the truth until last summer.
a very close relative of mine left the witnesses.

You should help your cousin decorate his house, it would be lots of fun for you. Just keep it on the down low with your husband. Christmas lights are awesome. I am religious, and christmas is definitely religious for me, but it's also a celebration of light during the darkest days of the year. The pagans had a great idea, and Jesus is the light of the world, so it all ties together. :) -

The Romans did not crucify robbers
by purrpurr ini've been reading a book called nonsense from the bible.
in it it makes the point that the romans did not crucify robbers.
having since researched this it seems this is true.

Another one decides to leave
by problemaddict 2 inwell in a month where i had a friend of 20 years tell me "we can't kick it no mo" because i no longer go to meetings, i had an even older friend who is coming to visit me, call me and tell me hes out.. currently a high profile ms who gives talks out all over the place, the elders said they are recommending him for appt to the body in sep when the co is coming through.
but nope......hes about to step down all together.. what did it?
because i am not disfellowshipped, and soft peddle my issues with the org, i was able to speak to him about things like blood, and a couple other things.

My husband had a similar reaction, wondering how our kids could ever be moral if we left the jw's. You forget what it is like from inside a KH, that they constantly tell you how no one else loves God and is immoral and that the whole world is satanic and basically a death pit. Hopefully, like my husband, his wife will start noticing people on the outside that are truly loving without conditions and her perspective will be changed. Once you learn a few things these gradual changes are inevitable, it just takes time. My husband came to a large church party at my new church and said he was surprised there were could be so many upright looking people under one roof. It's not what witnesses are conditioned to believe is possible.

Discussing the RC with a friend and my JW wife was listening.
by Driving Force ini am fuming at the moment and my wife has made me so angry.. i live in germany and an ex jw, a friend of mine is also ex jw but does not understand english so i was giving him a rundown on the friday session of the rc with gj.
my wife was in another part of the house but heard my phone ring and so she came to listen, i did not realize this, because when the phone rang i closed two doors between myself and my wife.
she opened the first door and started listening to the conversation.

This is horrible. She was asking for this, spying on you. She's also not following anything she's 'supposed' to be doing, withholding sex for six months. What, like that's going to bring you back to Jehovah?!
Are you mostly able to keep the peace, or is your daughter exposed to lots of nastiness? I wonder if divorce might be a good option now, or later, so that you can closely keep supporting your daughter until she is in college.
i'm really sorry this whole situation has happened to you.

Is Jackson embarrassed to be a JW?
by Doubting Bro ini listened to the majority of jackson's part one testimony and it seems apparent to me that he either:1) is embarrassed to be a jw or 2) doesn't really believe.
i've heard countless times from the platform and in print that we should be proud to be jws and take every opportunity to defend our beliefs.
yet, it seems jackson didn't even want to admit that he believed he was being directly used by jehovah to lead the congregation as his spokesman.

It's ironic, cuz the GB are the kings of presumption!
'well that would be presumptuous'..... everything they have ever said is presumptuous.

I feel for you and your situation. I would say, try to see if you can sign up for any community activities or classes. You are probably driving soon, right? This will give you some independence that you really need. Are you working at getting your GED or high school equivalent? Make sure you get it. You can go to junior college with it and go whichever direction you want. Try to get a job now, too. You are all holed up at home. Try to get out, and you are at the perfect age to be able to do that. Be an advocate for yourself. You don't have to tell your parents yet how you feel about being a JW, but naturally at this time of your life it's time to get driving, get out of the house, get a part time job while finishing up home schooling (can you tell your parents you want to go to public?? That would be even better.) Don't be scared. Embrace life now as much as you can. -

I'm 16 and I might be pregnant In a JW household
by NYsweet16 inokay, i don't even know where to start.
i'm 16, i live in a strict jw household and i know if i am pregnant (which is a big possibility) ..i know i'm doomed to a life of misery.
not because of my baby but because of my family and the isolation and judgement from the congregation.

What a very stressful situation for you.
Ok I know you feel incredibly alone right now but there are many resources for you.
If you are pregnant, have you told the father, if you know who he is?
Planned Parenthood is all over the u.s., and is not all about abortions as some republicans believe, it can offer you support for whatever you decide to do. Also you can get free birth control pills, if you are not pregnant, or for further down the road.
You are almost back in school, or maybe have already started, go see the school counsellor immediately. She can maybe even help you with getting a pregnancy test.
I like an earlier posters question, do you have ANY non witness relatives? Even tho they may seem distant from you they care about you more than you know. If this was my niece, who is a witness and doesn't talk to me, I would let her come live with me as long as she needed. You have support that you don't realize. You ARE a loved person and you WILL live through this, and this baby may be the treasure of your life, if you are pregnant. If not, please be more careful next time, and you are very fortunate to realize the truth about this religion at such a young age.

Know of any ex-mormons I could talk to?
by Brighid init's a business related matter and i'm just looking for some insight on doing business (very remotely) with mormons.
looking for some inside tips on what a devout mormon would find acceptable and/or not in business.
or if it even matters to them when it comes to business.

You could also ask a current Mormon, I think. -
