Finished Mystery (1917)... The book that Jesus approved...
by Alfred inso a few months ago, a friend sent me an actual copy of finished mystery which was published in 1917 (not a pdf download... the actual book).
i must say, this was the most disturbing book i have ever had the displeasure of reading.
but i only read it because this was the main publication that was being distributed worldwide when jesus supposedly chose the watchtower in 1918 and i basically wanted to see for myself what jesus saw in the wt that would compel him to choose this religious corporation over all other religious denominations.. anyway, if anyone is interested in knowing the actual contents of this book, here are some bullet points i put together from some of the notes i took as i read the book:.

This is why there is a 'witch hunt' for these books. So embarrassing they're scandalous. Shoot, before the congregation library was all cleaned out, elders used to approach me if I was even standing too close to the old books! -

What is your purpose or what do you wish to accomplish while a member of this board?
by Tenacious inwhen i joined this forum i was seeking more people who felt the same way i did in terms of seeing the jehovah's witness organization for what it truly was; a false prophet.. once i found like-minded members i slowly started to open up and participate more in trying to help others that were also exiting mentally and physically.
today, i offer support to anyone who desires it regardless of what they believe or not believe.. so what is your purpose on this board?.
support?

I came here a few years after my fade out of curiosity...a relative of an exJW friend said they had stopped disfellowshipping and I wanted to see if that was true, also I was curious how they were handling 2015, a hundred years plus one since their big false prophecy, were they going to change their stance? Well, disfellowshipping is going on strong, and they're STILL sticking to 1914.
But, i found that reminiscing here among people who have had very similar childhoods to mine is quite comforting, and also I stay to offer support to people going through dark and lonely times as they are trying to leave.

Bartender - Update 3
by Garrett insorry for long delay for update.. short story shorter - walked in way too late, she walked by, didn't say hi, i didn't say hi, she left to work, i left the bar.
4 friends got into a huge fight and were kicked out.
now i'll be going there alone.. to be honest, though, i think i'm just gonna pass on relationships all together.

Why did you walk in way too late? It's like you're a defeatist trying to make this not turn out right. :/ -

Top three reason for it to be cult and/or not the true religion.
by Powermetal4ever inalright, i want everyone to list your top three reasons for jw to be cult and/or not the true religion.
1.you can't look, or wear whatever you want.. 2. blah.
3. blah.

1. If you get baptized as a kid (to please your parents) and later in life decide this religion isn't for you, you lose your parents. And everyone else in your life who is of that religion, who are the only people you've ever been allowed to be close to.
2. You need to follow a very structured life, in both minutiae and long term goals, to be considered 'acceptable association.'
3. You must constantly look at 'the world' with a dark eye, thinking of its imminent destruction. Everyone who is not of your religion is beneath you and soon to be destroyed. If you don't live the very structured life mentioned above, you too will be destroyed.

My Mother Died Two Weeks Ago
by Perry innone of my jehovah's witness relatives called to tell me or my family.
just found out this morning.

These people have let their religion take away their natural humanity and affection. Perry, they are robots. Try not to take it too personally, while you mourn the passing of your mother. <3 -

"The Shack" by William P Young helped me to Deal with Life's Big Questions
by HomebytheSea ini would probably call myself an agnostic, but this book helped me to deal with many of life's questions in a way wt never could.
if helped me alot when i started questioning wt teachings.
has anyone else read it?
-

Yes, an exJW friend recommended it to me during the tumultuous time of questioning Jw teachings. Parts of it were slightly sappy to me, but it still got me bad. I was crying all the way through. I still think about it often. Oddly, I just recommended it to someone today in a PM who was asking me what she should read. -

Maybe they're trying to prove 607 is still valid, but from a different angle. Something to do with exile instead of destruction?
and THANK YOU WIFI!!

This past week:like the last days of the Iron Curtain
by fr0808 infor those old enough to remember, the last days of soviet rule in eastern europe were astonishing.
you had this unchanging entity that controlled all aspects of people lives for decades.
then came the unraveling.

Vidiot, all I heard was 'jehovah is opening up the USSR so they can receive a witness before the end!!!' -

My Mom Is Dying
by minimus ini just wanted to say that my dear 89 year old mom is terminally ill and will soon pass.
she is on morphine and hanging on.
she has been a devout witness for about 60 years and a wonderful mother.

What an awful turn. This has definitely been a roller coaster for you. You have been so blessed to have such a loving mom. It's a hard decision to discontinue treatment. At least she won't be in pain.
