Fmf, that your wife can say they are wrong is actually a huge step. It wasn't that long for me from the time I admitted they were wrong about some things until I was completely out mentally. Admitting they are flat out wrong about something is huge!!

We're not trying to convert you
by jws inrecently i saw a link to an article from the st. petersburg times (one of these links on the side of this forum to sometimes old articles).
it was an article about jws and their preaching work.
imo, middle to favorable.. but the one thing was from a door where the jws are saying they're not here to convert anyone, they just want to share a scripture.. what sort of bs is this?

My mother always said 'we're not here to convert you on your doorstep.' And in my mind I always said 'no, she wants you to invite her inside for that. Have at least 6 months of studies, come to meetings. THEN you will have been converted.'
Honestly tho, the longer she talked at doors the better. That meant my next turn might never come that day which was just awesome.

A new member
by Kurteousmaximus inhi... i am new and after nearly 20 years after being disassociated at 15 i would like to make contact with others who have similar difficulties.
my mother was disfellowshipped shortly after my rebellion and had all ties with both her mother and brother cut and that remains the case.. just really hacked off with not being able to put things in the proper place in my life after all these years.
for the record i don't know if i believe in god but am searching for some peace as i seem to self destruct on a regular basis.. any ideas anyone?.

Hi Kurt, welcome! I hope you tell more of your story here. What led you to disassociation at 15? What in your life causes you to become derailed every so often? I sincerely hope you have not felt bad about yourself all these years, that you may be 'bad' by nature. Growing up witness is not a healthy way to grow up. Feeling that you have to stick so closely to these very narrow parameters that define what it is to be a 'good' person. To me you sound like a very good person. I think you are ready to open your heart now and move on.
