Very Weird Experience During Recent Special Talk After Memorial
by Tenacious inhesitantly i attended this talk with my family and sat through it without batting an eye.. mentally i take myself out during the entire meeting some would describe this as daydreaming or zoning out.
whatever the case may be, for some reason this particular speaker, whom i know of but not personally, got my attention the way he would say certain phrases.
he cited some texts that directly advised the audience that faith in christ was the only way to salvation.

not all JW's are asleep
by Damascus ini am an 'active' jw but i do not agree with most of the doctrines inc blood, baptism, the memorial etc etc.i took the emblems at the memorial because i think we all should recognise and accept jesus' command to remember him.
not for one minute do i think this is only for the so called anointed.
i know it is full of man made error and that my fellow brothers and sisters are in a state of mindless, spiritual unawareness.

Please tell us your family situation and if anyone else is sympathizing with you in your close circle. Are you completely alone? You have probably a rough couple of years ahead, maybe more, depending on how many relationships you have and want to keep.
I held on to my belief in God, and even strengthened it, by letting go of fundamentalism. I joined another church. Everyone will have their own path, tho, and personalities play a big role in which way people go. It's the way it's supposed to be. The JW life is for one particular type of person, but people are more varied than that in reality (thank goodness!)

Keep up the fight, Damascus. Do what you believe, not what others tell you to believe. You're a good person and that you can see with your own eyes is commendable. -

Why does this crap happen to me?
by Darkknight757 ini swear i must have bad luck or just happen to be in the wrong place at the right time or maybe i'm just blowing this out of proportion.. so the other night my wife and i are packing the car to head home from vacation in the smokeys in tennessee when i get the brilliant idea to take out the garbage at 9:30 at night.
i walk in the dark to the caged garbage can with a flashlight, put the trash away and walk back to the house.
afterward i decide to load up the car.

That post should be rated NC-GROSS.
Glad the talk went OK. Nothing stresses me out more than talking to witnesses! Definitely worse than bears.

Got a call, my dad is in hospice...
by dubstepped inour last conversation was him yelling at me because i "loved the gays".
translation, i pointed out that nobody chooses their sexuality.
i've been shunned since daing last september, and really for a year or so after visiting my df'ed brother.

It sounds like you are definitely going to have a semblance of a relationship with your mom at the end of this. But how sad if she doesn't, and loses two sons to the crazy religion. Maybe you can let her know you didn't disassociate yourself from HER, just the religion, and you will always love her and be there for her and she can reach out to you anytime. -

I'm glad you had a positive experience with him. That's important. You don't want your last memory of him to be him yelling at you.I'm sorry, dubstepped.
(You have a cool name by the way)

But it ISN'T nice for kids! Your daughter could have experienced that moment at her preschool, or an ordinary church, places where her path in life wont be narrowly defined for her, where she will hope to have a voice as a female and her best hope wont be to 'marry well.' 'Even if it isn't the truth' I'm dumbfounded by anyone who would say that. If it isn't the truth, how can it be tolerated that these people are telling you what to do with all of your time and with your mind and with your goals in life? If it isn't the truth, how can you stay and keep your kids in it, making them fearful of the world around them, making them feel guilty they are not doing enough all the time? Making them vulnerable to the scrutiny of others, as if their life depended on it? No, it is not a wonderful place for kids to grow up. -
