Alive, I know!! I was actually pretty successful placing the revelation book. People ARE curious about Revelation. But I'm sure they opened it up and were like 'wha? These people are delusional and crazy!' No wonder I could never get them at the door again for return visits.... -

I agree, jwfacts is excellent. If he won't look there himself, review some of the doctrinal stuff to point out to him.
(Hey fellas, look here's another woman who left first!)

The Divine Name in the NT: Some Reflections
by Let go of fear ini've been fascinated with this topic for some time now, almost to the point of obsession.
after researching the issue for several years, i have come to a conclusion/theory that i would love to receive some feedback on.
this theory of mine is one that will be somewhat unsettling to both those who believe the divine name was used in the original nt scripts as well as those who believe it wasn't.

Yes they blatantly changed the meaning of that scripture by adding a word 'other' when it is completely not there, or even suggested, by the Greek. The old nwt at least had the word other in parentheses, the revised doesn't even include parentheses. Lgof I have a busy weekend ahead and dont have time to do much research on this. When I was doing research years ago, I found many sites that had a list of scriptures where the NWT changes the text to minimize the role of jesus, and there are I believe 160 instances where the NWT NT includes 'jehovah' where it is actually possibly jesus who 'the lord' could have referred to. -

"The organisation is imperfect, but it doesn't affect my relationship with Jehovah"
by Alive! ini've noted active, devoted jw's state the above.. and, it's not a problem for me to remain trusting of god, i just don't trust religions or men.. recently, a member of this forum stated that he remains an active jw, in the family of god's people, wanting to encourage and do good - whilst recognising that the pastoral leaders (the gb) have shipwrecked the faith of many, being unsound scripturally etc, etc.. stop and think about this - the bible says to not follow after those who lie and hurt the faith of "little ones".. the pharisees were accused of traversing over lands and expending much energy to make a single convert - only for that convert to end up worse of than he started off with.. it's one thing to not believe this is the 'truth' and feeling the awful pressure of managing ones life, trying not to lose ones family.. it's quite another thing to declare oneself to be a christian believer of god's jw household, and somehow believe the god of love would use corrupt liars to parade as jesus' brothers in the urgency of last days.
really?
and, to then visibly promote faith in corrupt men, and try to bring converts into a place where the rulership is wrong.. some of us are dying from hurt here.......give me a break..

Yup, I always knew it was to get rid of them. Funny thing is, aren't they basically banning those books now? Or are they still pushing them to get rid of them? Surely the doctrine isn't 'correct' anymore. -

You are interpreting that scripture to mean just Jehovah's witnesses as the flock. Actually jesus was talking to ALL followers of him, and warning them against false prophets coming in amongst them. And guess what, Russell was one of the false prophets he warned against. -

Alive! Don't feel bad or stupid or down on yourself. You are stronger and smarter than most. That is nothing to feel bad about!! Yes you believed it for a while, but these guys are master manipulators. Look how many people haven't woken up, but you have. Love yourself, and live.

People who cling to the 'idea' of the witnesses but admit that the GB is misguided or 'imperfect' may really just be sentimental and are trying to still make it work for themselves without moving on with their lives. They are stuck in their own living state of Limbo, always wishing for the way things used to be...instead of moving on and researching completely the tangled web of witness beliefs.
also theyve been taught there's nowhere else to go.

Do leave it behind. Do your best in school. If you never get baptized you can escape when you are a little older. Be careful if you date. Don't let people see you.
