Our hall is asking for money...
by thedepressedsoul ini guess the branch isn't happy with the amount being sent each month since we are way lower than our loan amount.
we now have to another financial survey to see the max amount that can be given.
it is "encouraged" for all to be in attendance and give much forethought and consideration to the amount you can donate each month.

It is our policy to never ask for money. But give us your money!! We aren't asking, see...we are demanding. You aren't doing enough. You are a burden for us to bear. Yeah we tell you what to do with every aspect of your life, and you better not work too much, and you better not go to college to get a decent job or heaven forbid, get educated, you worthless pieces of crap who only are approved by God if WE think you are by you following our millions of rules....how DARE you not donate enough?? Where would you be without us?? GIVE US YOUR MONEY! -

Has science replaced the bible? WT June 1 2015
by stuckinarut2 ini picked up a printed copy of the june 1 2015 public edition wt..... before the end of page 1, the stupidity is already evident.. they quote a dictionary, but don't list which one.. they quote a "world- famous physicist", but don't give his name.
the quote looks like it is edited to fit their reasoning.. they quote "others", but no reference to who they are is provided.. the next page quotes "a popular science writer" who??.
then the classic line "jehovah's witnesses respect each person's right to make a decision on this matter".

The WT has as much credibility as the National Enquirer and their 'Swedish scientists', as in, 'Swedish scientists have discovered ancient alien race remains.' -

Switching Halls
by the comet init's time for me and the mrs. to get the hell outta dodge.
recently my hall has undergone major management changes and the atmosphere is..less than ideal.
i'm getting multiple calls a week asking to set up a time to meet, i've politely declined but these guys aren't taking a hint.

Cards are now moved from one congregation to another when the old elders know you are moving. They don't wait till you go to a new hall for a while. I was told 'too many people were getting lost' the old way. I'm not sure this is universal but I believe it is. You will have to come up with a reason to move. Be mysterious tho. And try to pick a cong where the elders aren't personally friends with your elders. -

Watchtower Service Robots

Robots would be their IDEAL witnesses. "Must. Defend. The. Watchtower. Beep!" Never thinking on their own.
A lot of sympathizers who come here SOUND like robots. It's quite interesting. The years being away from it are adding up for me. I REMEMBER hearing stock answers, regular phrases, repeated slogans over and over. But being away from it for a while, these people sound like robots. Programmed to respond certain ways. Certain stimulus follows into certain algorithms and there is no straying from the path.
The problem I had with that is, I love individuality and human variation, and freedom to be your own person and think and express your own thoughts. It was inevitable that I would leave someday.

June JW Broadcast - Jehovah's & Jesus' names Are Interchangeable!
by The Searcher inmr. geoffrey jackson hosts this month's propaganda-fest, and uses a favourite catchphrase of the org - "by extension" - to get out of the dead-end which the scriptwriters had put him in.
he quotes matthew 10:22 - "and you will be objects of hatred by all people on account of my [jesus'] name; but he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved.".
mr. jackson knows only too well that probably no j.w.

Searcher, don't bother. The guy is a witness drone. A robot. No mind of his own. 'Must. Defend. The. Truth. Beep!' -

I may have a friend
by Defianttruth inokay, i am almost forty and outside of my wife i haven't had a friend in decades.
sure i have tons of people with whom i am friendly towards, but they all share something to do with work or business.
i remember thinking last year i had no one who called just to talk.

DT I am really happy for you! You mentioned an important key to making new friends...joining a club for a cause you care about.
I joined a church and a bunch of other stuff. The church people are like family to me now. Actually it's unbelievable how many people I know now, through all walks of life. But still, my best friends are the women who knew me long ago, who left the religion way before I did and who I found again after I myself left. But when you are a witness you are constantly putting a wall between yourself and everyone not a witness. Breaking that wall down, you talk to people differently than you used to! There's no more reserve. More eye contact. More questions. More interest.

Gtte, it's the opposite of the trinity. It's disregarding Jesus. I don't really believe in hell, but somehow, someday, they will be punished for this.
splash....that quote is unbelievable!!!

I think theres definitely some weird stuff out there. I've heard stories from reputable people too, things that happened to them personally. I think much of this stuff does have a scientific reason, but not all of it. -

Some of this information is new to me. I remember most of it from crisis of conscience. So interesting...I remember when I was very young my best friend (whose father was a big shot) told me about the Russelites, how they STILL followed Russell and never went along with his successors after he died. How they met in people's houses to study Russell's old books and how pathetic that was. But after hearing what really happened, who are the real apostates?
It's just like a country with a king who chooses his successor, but someone else jumps in and usurps the throne. The witnesses are the pathetic people who followed the USURPER.
And what a guy he was. ' You have to follow US because you will die otherwise!! We are God's chosen!! All those other religions are EVIL and SATANIC!! Oh, and the prophets of old are going to be resurrected and going to need somewhere luxurious to live, and it's going to happen in 1925, so buy me a mansion for them, and I'll live there until it happens, if you don't mind....'
