They have to drop either '1914' or 'generation.'
If they keep 1914 they will soon simply stop highlighting the generation scripture.
If the religion goes on for another several decades, they will stop mentioning 1914 as well.
hi, i'm new here but hadn't seen this mentioned anywhere yet.
during the "imitate jesus" rc there was a strange moment where they played a video of a brother trying to explain the 1914 teaching.
the brother quickly goes through all the scriptural "proofs" and the householder is dumbfounded.

and or dresses?
just what is wrong with a smart pair of trousers?
i'm sure that the women would not start behaving like men or imagining that they have a dick!.
Because everyone is repressed and has dirty minds and they wouldnt be able to handle the definition that pants bring.
Sure, Hillary Clinton and Angela merkel can do it and nobody thinks anything about it. Bankers, real estate agents, female ceo's do it. Female pastors do it.
Like well trimmed beards, perfectly acceptable in todays society, and even the most upstanding citizens can have them, women in dress pants is still a ways a way for such a backwards religion as the jw's.

a short video with proof from the bible that the ones going to "heaven" are not meant to stay there forever, but just to meet jesus there (at the rapture) and be with him forever, on earth, not in heaven!.
did you ever feel like born ins were looked at differently than those that were converted?
i always felt that there was a level of suspicion around those "raised in the truth".
that we were always suspected of being jws to make our family happy.
D4g, so true.
being a born in, when you are a naturally independent thinker and free spirit, SUCKS. Especially if your parents are good strong witnesses. I want a real childhood.
we know the wt interpretation of matt 25:40 is support of the anointed.
since most of us here are no longer in that situation, what, if any forms of charity are you involved in?
sorry for the awkward framing of the question, it's not meant to imply atheists, or non-christians are not charitable!
i've noticed increasing amounts of jw's are coming off fb and deactivating completely.
all with the same reason which they post about at lenght which is that they wwant to focus more on their spiritual life and not have the distraction of fb.. have i missed something or is this just a coincidence?.

It is amazing. These operations in developed countries are so common....in countries where it is not possibly affordable or accessible, whole lives are ruined. Thanks for telling me about that one.

Sometimes it just suddenly strikes me as so ludicrous that the world, according to them, was supposed to end in 1914. And they have SUCCESSFULLY managed to string people along for over a hundred years, 'no really!! It's coming!! Any day now!!!!'
that is manipulation SKILLS.
jehovah's witnesses topic made it to the list:.

Me too lrg! I bet Latter Day Saints and Scientology are numbers 31 and 32 :). Other controversial organizations that have way too many strung out followers spending time maintaining their image.
Incidentally, when I was researching the cross on Wikipedia years ago, I saw that picture that was in the live forever book, drawn 400 years ago, of jesus on a stake. It was right next to OTHER configurations the same artist had done, he had like 16 different ideas of the way jesus could have been impaled. Most of them with arms outstretched. Of course the live forever book didn't have THOSE drawings in it. They purposely chose an 'old looking' drawing to make it seem like people used to not believe in the cross, never mentioning the other 15 drawings. But this misrepresentation I realize now is normal for them.
Researching wikipedia a couple years later, it was all gone.
