Linda Hitler - Part I
by hillary_step inmost of my problems in life stem from the day that as a seven year old that my uncle persuaded me that hitler had a daughter called linda who lived in hamburg.
linda hitler he informed me with a wild-eyed whisper lived on schopenstehl strasse and was a rather plain-looking young girl who worked at a pastry chef in one of the more up-market hotels that had survived an apocalypse of bombing during wwii.. .
well, it was not actually the process of persuasion that convinced me of the existence of ms. linda hitler, after all i was seven and he was thirty something, but it was his fervor that did it.. .

On the quotes website (someone post a link?) I was reading through some of the dates, and the pyramid predicting with the measurements the dates 1914, etc.. (They kept changing the measurements to suit their needs which I found...interesting).

Sooo, whaddya think?
by Sunspot inthe other night i was watching the history channel (or it may have been discovery channel) and the subject was the moon landing.
some people feel that it was a big hoax, and were trying to prove it by a number of things, like shadows falling in two directions, no stars in the background when there is no atmosphere (clouds) to obscure them, and a number of other things that they feell proved it was done in a studio in area 51.
i'm really behind the door when it comes to space travel, or knowledge of how somebody could have "faked" an event as monumental as this----so i'm asking if anyone knows what the heck i'm talking about---and do you feel that there is a chance that this was a hoax?

AA: I read that entire article you linked to, very compelling. I love astronomy but the site debunking the conspiracy theorists was especially interesting (and informative).

Was I a coward?
by DanTheMan inright before i disassociated myself last march, i sent an email to quite a number of jw's that contained only a link to an "apostate" website that had been instrumental in my seeing the the truth about the wt.. well, nobody responded to it except for one person, a guy who i hadn't had any contact with my last year in.
he started out with "yikes, do you know i'm disfellowshipped?
" he then went on for several paragraphs defending the org, how loving the brothers were when they disfellowshipped him .

an update on my sister
by jwbot into recap: my sister left her family for about 2 weeks, she had been depressed for months (years possibly) and information also surfaced about her being molested by our older half-brother (my fathers son) when she was little.
my family tried desparately to get her to come back and get therapy and it worked.
right now my sister is staying with my parents and they are helping her (and her husband and kids) get back on their feet.

Thank you Gretchen! Mike said the best thing to me yesterday: "You are such a good dog owner". Now I do not think of myself as Twobit's "Owner" but more her adoptive parents...but it was a thing that is really important for me to be. Of course...I was in the middle of cooking rice and chicken for her dinner because she has an upset stomach. Me? I had some Mac n Cheese. :)

disfellowshipping children
by QCA1 inawhiile back i posted telling you about my grandson whos mother hit him for not saying grace before a meal ( he is 15yrs old ) he has been hit on many occasions,he hates being a witness and is forced to go to the hall by his mother.
my grandson phoned us on the day his mother had hit him,he was sobbing down the phone to us and said he wanted to come and stay with us, i said yes and that i would fetch him, anyway his mum and dad have had nothing to do with me since despite me writing to them expressing how much i love my grandchildren and that i wish to see them,i have had no reply.. the other day my grandson phoned and said to my younger son that he is leaving home when he is 16 and can he come and stay with us,of course i said yes.
what i need to know is will he be disfellowshipped for living with his grandma ( i am not a jw ) of course i know what this will mean for him,his brothers and parents will shun him.. as for me what else can i do to see my grandchildren.

Maybe being disfellowshipped with be a good thing? He hates being a witness...and he is young enough to be able to find new friends that will be friends with him unconditionally. And with you as his support system...he will have a better chance at life. My concern in the legal issues behind it.
