You have a laptop, right? Doubt bethel has wireless net access...but a laptop would be good to play movies, look at saved porn, etc. Have fun!

I'm going to Bethel... Wanna Come?
by RichieRich inso my mother suprised me about a week ago by telling me we are going on a bus trip to bethel from april 13-17. for those of you who aren't used to this concept, american dubs seem to think that packing themselves on the bus with 60 other witnesses and driving for 4 days is somehow going to strengthen themselves spiritually.
well, i doubt that will work for me.
i was just wondering, is there anything i should look for/ be on the alert for?

My JW G.F.-- Told parents about wanting to marry me. UPDATE
by PAJA inwell as from my earlier posts, my jw gf told her parents she wanted to marry me last saturday.
they gave her the guilt treatment about not being a good jw and how marrage to a non jw is a sin etc.
and when i saw her monday she said she could not marry me anymore.

This is bad. One, she is too immature to stand up for herself for one she loves. Two, if she did leave them for you then it will be a bad idea because she will go from dependance on her family to dependance on you. Its a bad mix. You have to just tell her you are stepping back and she needs to figure it out for herself. Dont let her string you along.

A comment I heard tonight
by Generic Man intonight i heard one of the most cruel and twisted comments i've ever heard at the platform.
the topic was the apocalypse and whether or not children will be slaughtered.
through one side of his mouth, the po stated that the bible is not clear on the matter, while out the other side he pointed to all those old testament accounts where children were killed.

Pretty dumb to blame the Pope for aids!
by Brummie ina spokesman for homosexuality was on tv yesterday blaming the pope for some of the gay people catching aids, based of the popes disbelief in contraception.
then i saw other people echoing this.. how dumb are they?
the pope was also against homosexuality/ sex before marriage but none of them stopped practising sex because of what the pope believed did they?

The only problem I had was that catholic missionaries in Africa were discouraging condom use between married couples even. Now THAT is irresponsibility.

JW Mother Mourns Pope's Death
by homme perdu ini was surprised to discover how my mother felt about the passing of the pope.
she mentioned even though he is different (regarding religion) he is still human and death is always something painful.
i overheard her discussion with my grandfather and she said he did good things and jehovah can grant him resurrection.

Your mother definitely is showing the love that Jesus taught. She sounds reasonable and....human. Something that some JWs and the religion lacks.

Jealousy in a couple, good or bad?
by JH indo you like it when your spouse shows a bit of jealousy?
what do you consider good jealousy, and bad jealousy in a couple?.
give examples...

Too much jealousy is a bad thing. When Mike and I newly together, it was easier for us to get jealous because there was not so much trust built up yet. We had to get over it though, its not good for either person in a relationship and if its one person jealous, it will lead to heavy resentment from the other person.
Mike is protective of me though, sometimes I mistake it for jealousy but its not. For instance we went out to a club and we just dance a lot with all the fine ladies but then a girl was being really pushy with me...all over me and she was very drunk. Mike just took my hand and pulled me away and made it clear that he and I were together. I was a little upset because he did not give me a chance to say "hey I have a boyfriend!" and when I thought back, I had "bisexual guilt" (really long story-a different post another time perhaps) and I think that I could have possibly had a hard time telling her that no, I am not a lesbian, I am bisexual and I have a boyfriend. In any event when Mike and I talked about it and he was not jealous, he was actually afraid I would get myself in a situation where I had a hard time dealing with it (which was the truth) and at no fault of mine. So thats my example :) But next time, he is going to give me a chance to stand up for myself. -

Encourage her to talk to her school couselor. She needs help! I was in the same boat but held on till I went to college and it was much easier to leave then. I lived in a dorm. Wow she needs to get her license too! But she can still go to college and not have a car, I know students who do this, they just live on campus and get rides (and we have a good bus system - students ride free). I just do not get why she does not follow your advice. I remember being 17 all to well and I was able to figure out on my own that I needed to get out by going to college...but I had to get over my depression FIRST (because I too wanted to die and saw myself as dead). When I figured it out for myself, my grades improved and I was accepted to the University of Maine and I am so glad I am here. If she wants a person closer to her age who has "been there, done that" feel free to give her my email: [email protected]

Can you answer a baptism question
by jaffacake in.
someone got baptised last week, and their partner who was present (i was not) says she was baptised in the name of the father, son and holy spirit, not a spirit-led organisation.
he says the 2 questions did not refer to the organisation.. is he mistaken?
-
jwbot
Was he at a catholic baptism?? Haha JWs definitely do NOT say anything like "father, son, holy spirit", that is very trinity-ish which they do not believe.

How Do I Tell My Mom
by Moridin inrecently i got engaged.
the problem is we are going to have a pagan wedding according to our beliefs.
my mother, a devout jw, already knows that we are getting married so i can't not invite her to the wedding.
-
jwbot
What will be so "pagan" about it? I mean, me and my fiance are not having a traditional wedding but it does not conform to any other traditions either...so no one would know either way. Is there a certain pagan wedding practice you are doing that she would find offensive? And also, would she be able to know that certain practices are pagan or not? Do you even have to label it a "pagan" wedding?
