  Fitting In

  did anyone else have a hard time fitting in with non-witnesses when you left the witnesses?

  i never had a hard time fitting in with witnesses since i grew up as one, i was always popular in witness circles and could usually strike up an easy conversation with someone as long as i knew they were a witness.

  but i just can't find any common points of interest with anyone anymore since i've been disfellowshipped twice and then finally faded away a year and a half ago.

  I am with you on this one...it seems the exjw's in my area left to be "badasses", not really because they didn't like the religion. So they will probably get reinstated once they pass that stage... But I hope they stay out...better be out for the so-called "wrong" reasons, than in the religion at all, right?

  Fortunately, my boyfriend and best girl friend who are not witnesses are really interested in what I have to say and about this cults history..I mean, how can a cult NOT be interesting, right? hehe.

  I think being on this board is the best thing for us, we all have a similar backgrounds and we are diverse enough to make a really interesting place on the net. And talk about FRIENDLY people... There is love here... there is no love in the religion.

  Marrying Young

  something has been bothering me as of late.

  my younger brother, who is 17 years old plans on getting married right after he turns 18 this upcoming year.

  i have quite a few problems with this, but he thinks that he knows it all at his age.. i'm concerned for several reasons.

  I know so many JW's who marry young and are miserable. It seems they get married because they are horny, seems like the spiritual masterbation just isn't doing it for them anymore. heh.

  Its not very mature...but it goes along with every JW teen, they are not socialized properly. My bro is in the same issue...and I almost was, BUT I ESCAPED! FREE! hahahaaaaa oh sorry got carried away there...

  ok, so, i am 21 years old, a full time student, and i work part time to support my habit (education).

  my s/o with whom i live, is also a student and works part time.

  we all work/play/go to school in the area that we currently live in.

  You are right!

  I didn't even think of the utilities.

  AArgh! I would have to pay for HEAT! and and .... no free cable from tapping into the neighbors like I do now...

  and NO HIGHSPEED INTERNET AVAILABLE. which is UNACCEPTABLE for my major, studies, line of work, hobbies, etc.

  hmm...

  maybe I should look into a place that is only a little bigger, in a surrounding not-so-expensive town in my area. *sigh*

  Ok, so here is where I am at:

  The Pro's:

  • It is a house (not the 1-bedroom I live in now) I could have an office! We are running out of room...
  • It is a new house
  • It is nice
  • On 3 acres
  • its in a town near my family
  • only $600/mo (or $300 each. We currently pay $235 each)
  • We were going to look for a large place anyway
  • I have a reliable car, so its no problem.

  The Con's:

  • It is 45 minutes to an hour away from stuff
  • My family wouldn't really visit anyway (but there is a chance they will, they somewhat warmed up to me again)
  • It is completely away from friends I have made
  • The town kinda sucks, but its secluded
  • I really like my car, why would I want to put many miles on it? Gas prices suck.

  How did the USA perceive the Louise Woodward case?

  remember the english girl babysitter who was supposed to have murdered that little baby?

  the court case was on live tv everyday (like ojsimpson).

  i watched both and was convinced of ojs guilt but was also convinced of lwoodwoods innocence.

  It seems that in the states, the majority thought she was guilty. It seemed to me, that everyone around me that discussed it, saw her as an awful person.

  I do not have an opinion, as I did not follow the case.

  But, thats just what I percieved.

  Ok, so, I am 21 years old, a full time student, and I work part time to support my habit (education). My S/O with whom I live, is also a student and works part time. We all work/play/go to school in the area that we currently live in. Its also an expensive area.

  Well we have been given the opporitunity to rent a HOUSE (currently we are in a 1BR apt. eww) for a little bit more than we spend on rent now. Not only that, but the house has just been built, its very nice and on a LOT of land.

  So, I should jump on it, right? Well there is some large "Buts"

  - It is 45min to an hour away from where we go to school, where we work, and where our friends and fun is.

  - It is closer to family...in fact, the next town over, but they would not visit much, but maybe they will

  - It is in a small ass rinky-dink town, I am trying to get OUT of that.

  - Its the perfect "settling down" type of thing. I plan on going to school for another 5 years and will have my masters, I actually want to be a professor, so it might be just right for that sort of thing.

  Ideas?

  As far as the toilet seat issue, this is how I look at it.

  Say that both male and female poop half the time, pee the other half. Also, say that women and men use the bathroom almost equally (work with me here).

  That would mean, Men need the seat up 50% of the time, down 50% of the time.

  Women need it down 100% of the time.

  That would mean, the seat is needed up 25% of the time, and down 75% of the time.

  So...odds are that it should be down anyway.

  I just believe in true equality, thats my core belief, thats about it for me :)

  an old guy I knew was disfellowshipped

  it was weird to hear it from my brother (an actual sibling brother, hehe) that an old man in their congregation, who was an elder as long as i knew him.

  and a very kind, sweet, funny man, was disfellowshipped.

  i am trying to figure out why.
