Our Mother is in a coma :(

karla and i came home for a quick shower and a change of clothes.

we ask that you keep our mother and our family in your prayers.

we posted a few weeks ago that our mother had been diagnosed with pancreas cancer and was given 6-18 months with chemo.

i have a younger sister i've recently gotten to know as an adult (she's 10 years my junior).

i know that she was raised as a witness however i'm not real clear on the practices/beliefs.

i do know that she is currently living through a lot of turmoil.

Hello 4me and welcome to this forum ,
I am sorry to hear that your sister is in a turmoil at present, I'm sure that you will find a lot of good advice on this board, and will be able to help her to make sense of things. Many that post here, have gone through similar experiences, and will be able to give support.

if jws can now take blood components, where do they think the components come from?

don't they realise that someone has had to lie on a hospital bed for an hour or so whilst a pint of blood is taken from them?

Thank you for your comments, I realise the potential good that could come from this action, but I still am not sure about the whole blood thing (scripturally) even though the JWs have totally changed their thinking on the matter.
By the way, my baby is 20 years old now, so I don't know if I still have the antibodies ?

We've just finished decorating the tree, but we kept our eye on the window just in case the elders were peeping in -
It's the first time that we have decorated a Christmas tree in more than 30 yrs. We feel quite guilty !!!

ok guys i have digested the info re - united nations involvement but i need to know where to source the information that the requirements for becoming an ngo have changed recently.

are you sure they have always been the same ie - to support un principals etc..???.

It has taken us over a year to get together all of the information re UN involvement etc.. Tomorrow, I will scan and post the letter dated 9 July 2002, which was sent to us from Isolda S Oca, Information Officer, NGO Section, Dept. of Public Information. In the meantime here are some relevant points from the letter.
....the criteria for NGOs to become associated with DPI which has not changed since 1991, include the following:
1. That the NGO share the ideals of the UN Charter
2. Operate solely on a not-for-profit basis
3. have a demonstrated interest in UN Issues and a proven ability to reach large or specialised audiences, such as educators,
media representatives, policy makers and the business community.
4. have the commitment and means to conduct effective information programmes about UN activites by publishing newsletters, bulletins and pamphlets, organising conferences, seminars and round tables; and enlisting the co-operation of the media.
see Awake 22 November 1998 where WT devote 12 pages in doing just that !

Your comment was read with great interest. I am rhesus negative blood group, and when my youngest son was born, he was affected by the antibodies in my blood, although he thankfully, came through it all (they used the blue lamp treatment for him) . I was asked by the Hospital, if I would be willing to give some of my blood, in order for them to make a serum for other mothers in the same predicament. I felt that I couldn't give my blood, and wondered if any witnesses had at some time or other had accepted the serum for this treatment, not realising that some-one, some-where has to donate blood to enable this treatment to happen.

Very interesting point. The Tony Hancock "armful" was funny :) I expect that you must be from the UK also?
We had a meeting with a couple of elders seven weeks ago, and this blood fraction issue was discussed. Our son said to them "what part of blood isn't sacred then ?"
They couldn't give a reply to that, after all the bible does not distinguish between the fractions making up the blood, does it.

Definately Yes, but after being brainwashed for such a long time, I'm not sure just what it means.
I look at how miniscule the planet Earth is in comparison to the known universe, and feel that Jehovah must have more planned than we can ever begin to imagine. I believe that once the issue of Good and Bad is sorted out, then Jehovah will turn his attention back to the whole universe. I would definately like to be there on that day.
