Looking for a scripture for CO/Elders visit...

can anyone help me please, i think i remember a scripture something like; 'if a man tells you to do something and doesn't do it himself, don't listen to him'.
i cannot find it, i thought it was in proverbs(nwt) but maybe i imagined it.. anyway, it is possible that the co might visit me late december, i have made a few informal requests, and i'd like to be massively prepared.i have a whole array of un documents/info ready.. if you can help with the above scripture i'd be thrilled.. ta, meaty.

Does anyone know where I can get a copy?
by Vee ini'd really appreciate any tips on where i can get a copy of 'crisis of conscience' by raymond v. franz from.
i'd prefer to get a copy online, and i imagine it's not the typical stock that my local books etc will stock!.
i have looked on amazon, and other searches that have come up within yahoo, but so far they're either out of stock, or don't ship outside of the us.

Seriously folks, Ray's own site Commentary Press is probably one of the best places, I have ordered books from there which arrived here in UK within a couple of days. I don't think that there was much difference in price either, even though you have to pay the shipping costs. You will also get a list of other books stocked by Commentary Press which may come in useful.

I am new.
by Utopian_Raindrops inok everyone...i am new.. i don't know what to say....just hello.. i am a disfellowshipped jehovah's witness...which maybe one day i will get in detail about....but right now it's still too painful.. besides if i talk about it i feel like i am talking bad about people or hindering jehovah's spirit with others.
i realy try to shy away from speaking badly of people...even if they hurt me.. what i believe in my heart is no one can truely hurt you if your standing with the creator is good in his eyes.they in reality hurt only themselves,because they hinder thier relationship with our maker.. i do not like to talk bad about any religious group realy because, i think what if jehovah some how aproved of them and then i am introuble!.
i can't remember where the scripture is but it is about the apostles and the advice was to let them go....and if they were from god then you know....but if they weren't then it would end...thier preaching and basically god would take care of them.. i feel jesus could say the things he did of religious leaders because,well.....he is th son of god and these people claimed to represent his dad.

Hello Utopian, and welcome to this forum. People here are very nice as you seem to have discerned. We look forward to hearing from you again.
I have been a JW for over thirty years, but it has taken about one year for me to really accept that the teachings of the Organisation are not in line with the scriptures. Failed prophecies being just one of the points.
I would urge you to read Crisis of Conscience by Raymond Franz, (you can buy it from Amazon or any good bookseller) it really is an eyeopener. Ray writes without any bitterness, but with genuine concern for others.
My husband (Kaytee) and I have spent 4 hours, on one occasion alone, with the local elders, discussing our concerns about the things that are going on within the Organisation, but that meeting was 7 weeks ago and they still haven't contacted us since then. If they truly are concerned about their flock you would expect a quicker response than that. (We are not disfellowshipped nor disassociated)

In shock.
by lulu inlast night(tuesday) an announcement was made in our congregation that my husband and i had disassociated ourselves.
we did no such thing(for personal reasons) nor was any document whatsoever given to the local elders or anyone else.
nevertheless, that is what happened, apparently no letter of resignation is required.

So sorry to hear that Lulu,
We think that we could be next on the hit list. We have already checked out the price of a box advert in our local newspaper, (we can get a quarter page for about two hundred pounds !!) in case any slur on our christian character is ever mentioned. We have warned the elders that we will sue them personally, if this sort of announcement should be made.
At least you are in good company, look what they did to Ray Franz, Carl Olaf Jonnson and Ed Dunlap just to name a few.

Hello, just thought I'd share my newbie story

(though it seems typical on here) born into jw's.
parent's nutty jw friends told them to raise children like nazi's, and not allow them to do anything, or associate with anyone other than jw kids.
