Tony strikes me as a proud pompous person who would be quite humiliated right now. Probably in his easy chair today nursing his scotch and possibly teasing a grandchild.

Joined an online meeting incognito
by joey jojo ingot a link for a zoom meeting and thought id share my experience about the mid-week meeting.. guessing about 100 - 120 in cong.. 50 on zoom, only 8 with cameras on - all elderly.
watching from a detached point of view it's so obvious at how it is nothing but a glorified sales meeting, all designed to promote the org.
inspirational videos about how everyone can/ should do more to help with projects, in particular how to look after the kingdom hall, complete with bar charts showing levels of achievement to aspire to.. interestingly, tonights book study is about alcohol..

It’s an easy way to fade to just go on zoom with no cam for six months then one meeting every month or so ignore all elders contact
then go a year or more without attending on zoom or anything and you are no longer a witness
once you are no longer known as a witness you can do what you like and you won’t be announced so won’t be shunned
or at least you have that option, you could decide to be one of those ones who still goes to meetings every now and then to keep your hand in

Well, I know I didn't say this in my OP. The girl's dad and I said anytime they are together there will be an adult chaperone to prevent such things as pregnancy. When I was there for my son to meet the father, neither the girl nor my son seemed to know the first thing about being in a relationship. How to act. They were both trying very hard to show respect to the adults. Her dad and I noticed this.
This is why I think it would be a good idea. The kids need to learn how to be in a relationship at this age to know how to be in a REAL relationship later in life. If they learn now (as we did back in the 70's) then later relationships become easier to manage and not filled with all sorts of drama

It sounds like you know this relationship will fail and you just want your son to have experience. That is unfair to the girl.
I wouldn’t want my daughter to be used like this.
The JW way really is a protection don’t mess around with peoples feelings.

Got a call this AM from an ex-JW with JW family in North Carolina who are acquaintances of Tony Morris's family.
Watchtower set Tony and his wife up in a condo on the outskirts of Fayetteville, North Carolina (location of Fort Bragg).
Tony's story is: "Left Bethel due to age and health issues with himself and his wife, and to be closer to his family".
Smart move on Watchtower's part to be the landlord. Few people bite the hand that feeds them. A lesson learned from harassing Ray Franz

Could you ask them did he participate in the emblems this year?
Is he even going to meetings and if so is he still an elder?

Age and health definitely seems unlikely, given that all the other elderly GB members have stayed to the end despite their age or infirmity. As has been pointed out, Herd and Losch themselves are still there despite also becoming more frail and possibly borderline senile now. The GB usually get the best care from Bethel.

Yes as time goes on Herd and Losch getting older will cast doubt on the story that ToMo left for age and health reasons.
I remember an elderly anointed brother in London Bethel who fell down the stair to the dining room and went to hospital because his hip was out of place.
Anyone in London Bethel over the last several years will know who I’m talking about.
He was on very strong pain meds and said the most outrageous things. Elders put it down to this ‘wild talk’ blamed it all on the meds.
Problem is he is now still in the infirmary STILL saying the same outrageous things.
A few weeks ago the memorial was the usual thing where his carers trying to tell him what’s going on and helping him to take the emblems but he doesn’t even know what day of the week it is.
Someone in Bethel I know told me one memorial this poor old brother who’s first name is Kieth was in bed due to his old age and some brother were assigned to help him take the emblems but he was pushing them away, he did know know what was going on around him.
My point is this often happens as people get into their later years. What will happen to Herd and Locsh if they don’t die but carry on living in the infirmary with dementia?
People will wonder why was the story going round the ToMo was removed for age and health when Herd and Losch are even older more and more infirm?

I do not understand the universal issue anymore
by psyco into explain the universal issue we are often referring to a teacher and his/her students.. let us imagine that a teacher (god) has an hour (everlasting) class to show his students (humans and angels) how to fix a broken clock (to reign).. one student (adam) says he is able to fix it better independently, without the teacher's help (universal issue).. the teacher let him demonstrate that in front of all the others, but instead of an hour lesson he gives him only 5 minutes (death after a limited period of time) and he blocks one of the student's hands behind his back (imperfection).. if i were one of the other students watching i could think: but those were not the initial conditions the student was in when he said he could, and what would have happened leaving him more time and both hands free?.
am i crazy?.

JW doctrines day that first God (who never had a beginning) made Jesus the firstborn of all creation. Together they made other spirit creatures all who had free will.
Jesus was the master worker but they all worked on the creation of the universe. Then finally they made humans.
They say the Bible says the Satan challenged the right to rule in Eden. He implied that independent rule from God would be better.
The illustration is that a rebellious student challenged the teacher at least by implying that his was not the best way.
God the teacher could throw him out of the class, but then the rebellious ones could claim they were right.
So he lets them try it their way. They have to be given enough time so that nobody can claim in the future that if they had longer then independent rule from God could work

It is absolutely relevant if he feels it’s ok for 13 year old to be sleeping around.
Does he have high moral standards like the JWs no sex before marriage or does he think it’s ok to experiment. This is absolutely relevant to what we are discussing here.
I maintain if you stay close to Bible principals you are well protected against all kinds of problems especially from a young age.

You said it’s not complicated yes it’s not, you are very wrong.
How would you feel if they split up after 14 years of marriage and you were a big part of that?
