The DSM-5 views it as a disorder.
Why does everything these days have to be neatly categorized.
I say kill em. That must be my particular "disorder".
it seems the news always has another report of a pedo stalking children or hurting them.
i know this has gone on forever but i read another report of an illegal alien with a history of abuse taking advantage of another poor child.. i just don’t understand why some people do this.
is there an actual brain abnormality?

covid-19 (coronavirus) what to do - recommendations from an expert.
subject: what i am doing for the upcoming covid-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.
dear colleagues, .
I'm obviously no expert but burning sage (smudging) has been scientifically proven to kill 94% of bacteria and viruses on contact.
After a room was smudged or rather fumed with sage smoke it remained pathogen free for a month.
I started selling sage last year. I have an entire flyer about how it kills 94% of airborne bacteria and viruses with links to scientific studies. There is actually a few entire schools dedicated to these studies on sage. I had no idea until I had already harvested a ton.
I originally just wanted to sell them as smudge sticks. Something my father and I would do (not a jw) and (native american) he would smudge me. lol
Then I started to look up sage and stumbled on the findings. I introduced it into my sales pitch to entice , say, for a hypothetical scenario that 'if there was a couple and one was looking at buying sage and the other was saying "why do you want to buy that ole stupid crap, to get rid of evil sprites or something?" , then the other could show the flyer with links to look up on the spot from science about what burning sage can do and is proven to do' then increase my chances of sales from that angle.
Anyway, I'm not trying to sell my sage here but if your at all interested you can just type in "the science of sage" in your search engine and you can find out more about it.
Personally I love the smell. I don't believe that it gets rid of evil spirits. I do find it fascinating that sage was used to wart off "evil spirits" yet really it kills 94% of airborne bacteria and viruses on contact. Maybe the natives and indigenous cultures in times past just felt better after using it or and it cleaned the whatever they where living in staffing off illness and it was associated with "cleansing" bad energy, evil, negative, ect.
I've been giving them out and just yesterday had some calls on it from some shops wanting to carry some. I have it in a couple stores at the moment.
I just thought I'd throw that info out there since its inexpensive and a little goes a long way. Look it up. Every little bit of help counts.
If your allergic to sage, use a mask while burning and act as if it a fogger and leave your house for couple hours. That is what I've heard some people doing that are allergic.
this topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.
latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.
the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.
I too live near the area where 6 have died. My doctor called to check on me tonight. That's never happened before.
From what I understand she was calling all her patients.
I'm trying not to panic but this seems real odd. I do have the mountains to (escape to) if it gets out of control. So there's that.
ALL of my work gigs for the week cancelled today. Its going to get rougher I'm afraid. Life sure does't seem worth all the hassle at the moment. That was cryptic , sorry . It has just caught me off guard today.
so greta thunberg thinks the world pollutes too much.
specifically, the parts of the world that pollute the least and have the cleanest industries.
she doesn't seem to care about india or china who are the biggest polluters by far.. "how dare they".
@Fink- Caves list of videos are nothing but bunch of sensationalized BS to demean her and the cause of which she is speaking up about.
Probably Caves is a climate change denier and voted for Trump as the most truthful, full of fact based educated knowledge and unmovable honesty.
Like I said before you hate the girl but you cant be dismissive to the cause or information she is backing.

Fink, I didn't look at the videos. I posted links of articles that had the actual reading content. I saw there were videos but just read instead. 'Sensationalized' ? Absolutely ! You'll be hard pressed to find ANY journalism/reporting/articles that are not in the global political arena.
I never said I denied climate change. Climate changes have ALWAYS taken place on this planet.
I didn't say I was a Trump supporter but I dint say I wasn't either.
I don't 'hate the girl'. Why would I?
All interesting assumptions.
You asked how the father/ parents benefited from it and I posted how they are benefiting from it. If it came wrapped in a shit basket of sensationalism oh well, I'm not the editor or writer of those articles.

Fink-Is this really a case of exploitation for money ? $$$
Do you have practical evidence that the people around her like her father is cashing in ?

Greta’s parents are Malena Ernman and Svante Thunberg, and they too are as environmentally focused as their daughter.
They have co-written a book alongside Greta and their second daughter Beata titled Our House Is On Fire: Scenes of a Family and a Planet in Crisis, which is due to be released in March 2020.

Fink-Nevertheless I find it deplorable hearing people shitting on a single girl because she was proclaiming please protect the environment for humanity's sake .
I think some people here may have completely lost their heart and soul when the left the JWS.
No one is 'Shitting' on Greta. Just calling out like it is. Also another definition of 'idiot' is 'ignorant' , which she is. She is a pawn, and a tool who is used to target a specific audience. She doesn't know, that makes her ignorant. An idiot. Which is also a clinical term for someone with severe mental/ learning disabilities and autism is classified as such.
Shame on those that use her autism and youth to further their agenda.
Autistic individuals can have some amazing abilities in very insular ways. Her autism is being used as a tool to be exploited. $$ Those people have no heart or soul. IMO
i was listening to a radio show about a jw women who had been disfellowshiped , her daughter cut off all contact ,must admit at the time i thought so what.. then this man phoned up and explained he was disfellowshiped for asking about jws being ngo in the united nations during 90s till early 2000s when a newspaper exposed them , i still thought he's a apostate but looked it up found the article then found this forum and even more info..
For me it was a radio show as well. It was in Fayettiville Arkansas on the rock station.
I recorded it as it aired and they took callers at the end. I stupidly called in (or looking back not so stupidly) and got on air. I was defending the jws. I got hit with calm logic. Brain exploded! The crack started. That was in 2001.
In truth, when I was about 8 I remember thinking that if I was the devil I would hide under the guise of "true worship" to mislead. Years later I came across Paul Harvey's speech of 'If I were the devil'. It clicked more.
Then Crisis of Conscience. Which I read several times over.
An elder also said a comment at a book study he was presiding over where he flat out said that there no way only 6-7 million people would be saved(late90s). He quickly moved on with the study, but I never forgot it. He and his wife faded shortly after but I didn't know at the time that's what he was doing.
Long story short, it was little cracks over several decades, until there was a gaping hole I could not ignore.
i was thinking about this at work the other day, and realized the one positive thing i can truly credit the jws with: .
i have no fear of public speaking.
i was a shy kid, fat, clumsy, with crooked glasses and worse teeth, who wore hand-me-downs in one of the wealthiest counties in all of america, who sat still while classmates got up to salute the flag or recite the pledge of allegiance.
Food recipes from people of different cultures that I still use.
Speed reading.
Sign language, though I have forgotten a lot of that. But I can still have a brief convo with a deaf person.
Learned how to read and write Spanish at the Spanish speaking khs.
i wonder if there will be panic buying of food, guns, gas ect due to the corona virus.
what do you guys think?.
JimmyYoung- A watchtower is about useless but for a fire starter.
They make crappy fire starters. I lived off the grid for many years and the mags didn't burn well as kindling. Maybe it was satan keeping it from burning. (That 'ole devil' trying reverse psychology on me. All those stories I heard of "wordly" books and stuff not burning because of satan. Uhg Lol.)
Keeping extra food stored is always a good idea. I have for the last 15 years, been about 1-2 years of canned food goods ahead. I rotate them in storage as I use. If nothing else it has come in real handy when money is tight.
I also have what I call 'if the fit hits the shan' backpacks. One in the car, one where I live and a couple more in storage. In them I have fire starters, lamp oil, flint, wicks, lighters, lite cookware, knifes, compass, good jeans, thick shirts first aid, medication I take "that gets rotated as well" batteries 'also rotated' as I use them, flash lights, soap, water purifying tablets ect. Always have a windup radio w/ usb that can charge your phone if no power. It sounds like a pain to keep up with but its become a habit now so maybe 30 min a month spend on it at this point. I hardly ever tell anyone anymore because people can associate that with 'crazy'. I just call it being prepared, on an 'If' scenario.
I had cut back actually. I did have enough canned foods for about 4 years but the past few years I've dwindled it down to less. Always keep the 'What if" backpacks in different places.
I suggest also if one lives anywhere near the woods or mountains to buy a book specific to your area on edible plants, you never know if you might need it and its kind of fun, to me at least. It gives me a little piece of mind to have these things.
A family, or even a single person outing with nothing but a 'what if bag' for a few nights in the woods can be fun. Making your own fishing hooks/ lours is easy and fun.
Maybe I lived off the grid to long. It seems woven into me now.
my wife and i are not religious nor do we want to be.
we are very set in our spiritual beliefs.
we have worked with a jw who's family have been like a part of our family for 6 years.
When I was a jw, my ex wife and I would take the neighbors kids to the jw meetings with us. In my mind I was hoping the parents would join eventually. One of the parents did go with us and immediately said after it was over that "this was some brainwashing bullshit, I don't want my child going here". They actually stopped talking to us. And thank goodness for them doing that. I would have hated to have gotten them in that mess.
I'm not sure what to do in your case. Except make sure your children are safe. Ask them ( your kids) questions about their visits. It doesn't sound like you want the friendship to end. So just stay aware and keep an eye on your little ones. Set boundaries if you haven't. If you do set a few boundaries, don't be surprised if they are violated. Jws do that in regards their 'spiritual superiority complex '. They feel entitled to do this because they believe that they have the only true religion and everyone else will be destroyed.
You said it was a lot to process. I bet. It seems it would behoove you to process and research.
