"MARKED" over UN issue

last oct.i was shocked to be invited to a "legal" party to be held in feb. i was under the impression i had been "marked" since i was out of the loop close to a decade.. so i checked the box that we'd be attending the big 50 anniversary of my aunt & uncle, i included the un fax & articles from guardian paper.

on the return card i added an asterisk by the checkmark.. "can you verify that there will be no public reading of "softball" articles of "awake" promoting the un at this event?

i'd hate to see my young daughter exposed to the spiritual sight of watchtower's feet 666' in the air.. i received a reply this week.. dear ..... thank you for your response to our anniversary party invitation.

I would have uninvited you too. Yeah, they're cultists and everything but they sent you an invitation to their aniversary party and wanted to know if you were coming. What the hell does the UN thing have to do with their 50th aniversary? What did you expect them to say? "Wow, you're so right about everything! To think, we were just wanting to invite you to celebrate our long marige with us and you shared this life altering information with us. Thank you. You are so kind. Please come share it with all of our guests at our party. In fact, it won't even be our aniversary party, it'll be a party to tell all of these people who care about us that the JW's were in the UN." If nothing else they probally uninvited you because they didn't want you to make a big scene at a very special party to celebrate something wonderful. Look, I hate the JW's as much as anyone else here but you're no better than a JW who would use this occasion to recruit more people.
Take a hint, its not that they really care what your were raising a comotion about, they just didn't want you to raise a comotion about anything. This was about their very special 50th aniversary. Their response was not a "typical JW mindset" (I'm not knocking that saying, I'm just arguing against it in this one case), it was a mindset that "We don't want this guy coming to our party that celebrates something very special to us and getting everyone upset about something that has absolutely nothing to do with this event."
Stop giving apostates a bad name.
Now I came down hard.

Your Most Embarrassing JW Moment

im just curious about this:.

mine is stupid, but thoroughly humiliating at the same time.. my mother made me wear high heels for the first time to an assembly when i was 15 years old.

it was all snow and ice that day, but i made it inside fine without slipping.. during the first session, the naughty girl that i was, had gotten bored, so i decided to go to the restroom.. i guess the floors were wet or something, because i slipped and fell down about 17 or 18 steps.... head over heels, quite literally.. i landed at the bottome with my dress up over my head, showing off all my under "wares: lol!.

This one didn't happen to me but to someone I knew.
He was in elementry school at the time and was doing the bible reading talk. He was too short to reach the mike so he had to stand on a box. Apparently he didn't realize how small the box was. During his talk he took a small step backwards, started to fall, grabbed the podium, fell, took the podium down which hit the mike and took it down. Not only that but it was a small stage so on his way down he also he got caught in the curtain behind the stage and pulled it down too. From what I heard he just got up, walked to the bathroom, locked the door and stayed there until the meeting was over. This was also the same kid who had to have multiple operations because his window slammed shut while urinating out of it.

open marriages, anyone have experience?

well, my husband found out about my affair (yes, i gave in to the temptation with the soccer player and while it was fantastic, it's over now) and it's been a devestating time, we almost got divorced, but we're working through it.

i knew telling friends and this board wasn't going to help me fight his romantic advances, but i tried.

it was a one time thing that would have continued, but i wasn't too careful about the clues (guilty conscience i think).

No, that's what some guy wrote thousands of years ago. I don't really see the need to set the standards for my life on something that has no real use today.
Personally, I only want to have sex with my wife and her to only do it with me. I actually would not want a threesome with another woman and my wife. Call me selfish but I just don't like to share. That's just me though. Hey, if you like it and it works for you then who am I to argue?

with the 4th anniversary of my parents death looming and the anniversary of their last wedding anniversary party where my family was together and happy for the last time just being past ....i was feeling kind of depressed and wanted to reach out to what family i have left.

i sat there and debated in my mind if i should do it...should i try and reach out to my sister..see if i could reach her across the barrier of the jw religion.

should i try to remind her that we are sisters...we were sisters before we became jws and we will always be sisters.

Just an update for you all!!!

my wife just called me at work to inform me the same 2 elders that paid us a visit the other night stopped by this morning ( while i wasn't home, of course!).

they said they wanted to talk to her about the way she felt about the organization.

she basically said the same things i did and they told her that there would be a letter of disassociation read at the next meeting.

Dude, your wife kicks ass. Please keep us posted on any further events as this is one of the best stories I've ever read about the JW's. This is all just too funny. Talk about really nailing them to the wall.

Hello again

just wanted to thank everyone for their comments on my post the other day.

i was writing about the visit from the 2 elders that 'happened to be driving by my house' and stopped when they saw my christmas lights hanging on the house.

my wife called her mother to inform her about the visit and she said that about a week ago, another witness stopped at her house and asked if her daughter and son-in-law (me) were still living at such and such an address.

Yes, spying is very very very very very very very common amongst JW's. Also, if the elders should come back by to pay you a visit you should really tell them you don't appreciate being lied to like they did when they said they just happened to be driving by. For all that, you could just happen to get a restraining order when you drive by the local court house.

JW expansion cancelled in Britain - official

forgive me if this has been covered before but i only drop in occasionally.. i seem to remember some months ago that a poster talked about the planned relocation of the british branch to milton keenes.

i think he said that the move had been scrapped because of the lack of growth in britain?

i also believe that this decision had been made before the sept 11th attacks.
