dont blame the witnesses, its the bible's fault.. well you can blame them for trying to stick to the thing, but belief in the bible is the main problem.. i've heard the gb and witnesses be called evil by some, as though they have gone out to hurt people on purpose.. but i doubt that this is true, at least in recent times.. no the problem comes from believing the bible is god's word and trying to interpret it and follow it.. what happens when you do so?.

you get the catholic inquisition,people burnt at the stake,you get jews fighting for a promised land, religious groups who let their children die and a host of other problems.. i ask a question.if you were god and were going to have a book written on how man should live, would you do it in such a way that if misinterpeted or taken too literaly or mistranslated slightly , could result in the death and suffering of thousands of people,and would enslave people to false religious beliefs?.

yes there are good points and principles in the bible, mainly the words of jesus, who didn't write any of it himself.. but a few good principles don,t outweight the bad done in the name of the bible through the past 2000 years.. the society has tried to follow the bible, and take it for real .in doing so they have had to take on beliefs and ideas that can ultimatly cause harm.. it is like me reading a instruction manuel for my car, that is a fake written by a non-expert.if i follow that manuel , although it may not be all wrong, some instuctions could be in error and cause damage to my car and risk injury to other people.. if people then come along after and say "well its not the manuel thats wrong , you've just misunderstood it , look if you do it this way,that way..".

To all the believers of the bible I must say thank you. If ever I need reason to doubt that the bible is truly the work of nomads who lived thousands of years ago and has absolutely no value on my life what so ever other than common sense stuff all I will ever have to do is read this thread. You use the broad generalizations in the bible ("people will persecute you") to talk about how it is truly inspired even though anyone that is successful could say that. For the prophesies that actually get specific it seems rather odd though that the oldest manuscripts were written long after these foretold events. You talk about the high moral standards espoused in the bible ("love thy neighbor") which is just common sense stuff that is needed for the survival of a species. You also seem to leave out the little bits about how god's people would always go destroy their enemies.
Sure, the message of Jesus (love your neighbor and god) is plain and simple but that's not the only part of the bible. There's a whole crap load of other stuff in there too that doesn't make much sense. Not only that but I wouldn't exactly call the message of Jesus to be groundbreaking. True, there may be a lot of good in the bible (that can be found in just about any holy work) there's also a lot of bad. Correct me if I'm wrong here but the god of the bible is supposed to be big and almighty and perfect then why is there so much crap in the bible?
If I've said it once, I'll say it a thousand times; If god (in whatever form you may believe him) ever actually has spoken to man then why hasn't he done so more clearly and in a way that can leave no doubt?

I don't care why an elder does whatever it is he may do, he's still the one that does it. Doesn't matter if he's told to or if he's rewarded or not, he's making the conscience decision to be a jerk and ruin a person's life so I will stay angry at them individually. I know I was a jerk when I was a JW and I take full responsibility for every single one of my actions. Doesn't matter what I was told or how I was treated for them, if I was a jerk to someone, I was a jerk. Learn how to take some personal responsibility people.

Personally, I always hated the elders that gave me shit back when I was a JW. I never did anything physical to them because I know they're so petty they'd call the cops (funny how that "don't involve authorities" thing is only selectively applied) but I must admit I'd get a pretty good kick out of seeing either of them hit by a bus. If anyone feels like sharing this with them please feel free to contact Ken Goans ( [email protected]) and/or Jeff Bivens (don't know his email address) in Evansville, Indiana. Its been years but I still can't stand those two jerks.

So outsiders can't see the animal sacrifices that go on during the service meetings. The JW's tend to get bad press from that so they decided to block all the windows and only perform them when there were no unbaptized members there.
Another reason for it is so that no one can take pictures and blackmail the elders for their orgies they have when the CO comes to town.

Oh yeah, I remember thinking I was about to be killed when their tiny version of god came after everyone that was bad because I jerked off. Now, I just think of doing the deed as snacking. Sure its nice when you don't have time for a full meal but nowhere near as filling.

Not always true. Back in my old congregation (Northwest of Evansville) one of the guys I was friends with (Greg Dimmet) was over at a friend's house (Jason Mendoza) and this girl (Candy Winners) who wasn't a JW started going down on him. From what I heard of it he only let her do it for a few seconds before he pushed her away. Next day he called the elders and confessed to them. Crazy thing was since he was considered a good little JW boy who stopped it and repented nothing was really done to him. Guess it didn't hurt that his mom (Mary Dimmet) was one of the big pioneers. Greg was a really nice guy but I never could stand his mom though. What was funny was right before I got married (he got married just a few months before me) he tried to talk to me about how just because my wife and I were getting married that doesn't mean that we could just have sex anytime we wanted to and that we needed to control ourselves. I didn't have the heart to tell him we'd been humping like bunnies for almost a year before that..............

Would you let your kids bf/gf sleep-over?

at what age would you be happy with your kid's boyfriend and girlfriend 'sleeping over'?.

would the rules be different for boys vs. girls?.

personally, i think given a choice between 'it' happening anyway god-knows-where and giving a suitably mature kid some privacy, i go for the privacy option.. what do you think?

Come to think of it, if you don't want your kid's to have sleepovers have sex and make as much noise as possible while at. Don't forget to include spanking sounds. Afterwards walk around the house naked and talk loudly about how much some of the stuff hurt and how great other things were. Ask both your kid and their guest if they would like any advice or if they'd want to borrow anything. Think about it, if you did all this stuff, do you really think your kid would want anyone else to come over and even if they did, do you think their b/f or g/f would want to?

I actually remember when I was 17 I was going out with a 14 year old girl (I was a junior and she was a freshman) that lived about an hour away from where I did. Almost everytime I went to go see her, her mom would try to get me to spend the night so I wouldn't have to be out driving so late.

Thinking about sex at the meeting?

when i went to the meetings, i couldn't concentrate, so i would daydream all the time.

i noticed that most of the time i would think about sex!

i would look at some of the young ladies and imagine having sex with them.

Actually, thinking back to it, I remember my best friend (who left the same time I did) and his at the time fiance' talked about how they would use WT's to cover certain areas and do things to each other while sitting in the crowds at assemblies. Now that takes some balls!
