in the spirit of e-man's post earlier - i had planned on sending out ecards this year to all of you.
after the rants regarding the junk mail emails - i decided to send them only to those who want one :o).

I posted on the other Christmas card thread too. What I've done is set up a website that has everyone's snail mail and email addresses on it. You cannot get to this page by clicking on a link anywhere on the web. The only way you can get to it is by sending me as much contact information as you feel comfortable at [email protected]. I'll post your information on the website and then send you a link to that page so you can send others cards if you like.
No information will be sold or traded with any companies out there. It will only be used for the above stated purpose and that reason only. I don't even keep track of how many people come to any of my sites, let alone who they are or where they come from.

I've got an idea for how to organize this if you would all want to.
I run a few websites and can put whatever I want to on them. Email me at [email protected] your snail mail addresses and I'll post them somewhere on one of my sites. I won't post the actual link anywhere that can be found by whoever wants to go to it. The only way you will be able to get to the website is after you send me your snail mail address I'll send you a link to the page that has everyone's address.
This can be my gift and greeting card to everyone out there. Only rule is you have to send me one too!

this article, which mentions the recent probable discovery of a comet impact crater in iraq around the time for the biblical flood, might interest some on this board.. .

i personally believe the myth of a global flood is nothing more than ancient legends but then we now know that the earth is routinely blasted by fairly large asteroids and comets that can release the energy of 10 million atomic bombs and dramatically effect life on earth.
I make my living with meteorites and impact events and whatnot so hopefully I can shed a little light on this one.
First of all, it wasn't very likely it was a comet. It was most likely a small asteroid. Comets are basically dirty snowballs whereas asteroids are rocky bodies. Simple enough mistake.
Second, Noah's flood was most likely caused by the end of the last ice age. Glaciers melt, water breaks through, people drown, yadda yadda. Its pretty safe to say that there is no possible way that there really was a global flood. True, many other religions and peoples speak of great floods but most often its found in cultures that live near large bodies of water. Deeply landlocked peoples hardly ever have any such stories. Coincidence? Not likely.
The impact that is mentioned in this story most likely did cause other such legends to appear. It wouldn't be the first time that a large impact would be the source of legends to an uncivlised culture. The are people in Russia that still won't go near a certain region in Siberia because of a devastating impact that occurred around a hunred years ago. There has also been at least one instance in modern times that a meteorite has been found buried in an indian burial ground buried in the same way that a small child would be found. There is also a meteorite that fell in Germany that fell in 1492 that was chained to the town church for centuries because the people that it was a sign of god's wrath. There are tons of stories out there like this that have been caused my meteorite impacts much less catastrophic than the one in Iraq.

i just went to a recent concert and they were really moving..they did an acoustic version of please, off of pop.
bono's voice was perfect.. i went to the philly november 2nd show.

I've seen U2 twice and am going to St. Louis to see them again in a couple weeks. First time I saw them was on their Popmart tour and we had 19th row on the floor, dead center. That's actually where I met my wife at too!!! First song at our wedding was "All I Want Is You." Last time I saw them was in Lexington this spring. My wife and I went and got in the middle of the heart on the floor. If you get there early enough and wait in line Bono sometimes comes out when they pull up to sign autographs and have pictures taken. I know from the last concert I went to. :)
Not sure where we'll be at next time but we've got general admission seats on the floor so it'll be great. BTW, if you get those seats they cost the same as the nosebleeds (around $50).

has anybody ever had any urges to act strangely at the kingdom hall?.
i remember having two very strong urges:.
the first was to stand up while everybody else was quietly listening to the meeting and throw my bible across the hall in a fit of frustration with the intention of hitting someone and waking up.
Am I the only person who would ever sneak off into the bathroom to Onanize myself to relieve the boredom?

well, i did it.. it's official and i'm relieved.. the elders wanted to try talking to me once again, but after awhile it was obvious that they were only interested in changing my thoughts not answering any questions.
so, i just calmly asked if i could disassociate myself.
they acted stunned and they got tears in their eyes, but i told them that i had already grieved and was ready to move on with life.
Welcome to the real world. Its big, scary, and hard. You're gonna love it.

if evolution is true and god doesnt exist, and all matter always existed, and life keeps adapting and getting more and more advanced, conquering all problems set before its existence.. then life should have already filled the entire universe and advanced to the point of never dying.. am i being presumptuous?.

IF evolution is true? What more do you need to see that it is? Isn't the fact that over millions of years you can literally see one species EVOLVING into other species enough to settle this question? Debating evolution's existence is like debating if the world is round or not.

back when i was a lusty young lad of 17, a certain sister caught my eye - i swear that she could make her eyelashes beckon - and i duly decided to pay court to said sister.. however, it was not to be so simple.
round about that time, it would have been mid-60's, the wtbts were having a real downer on anyone who wore a short skirt (not me), danced the twist or grew their hair (me) over their ears.. but, the worse thing was still to come.

I remember a couple times I chaperoned for one of my friends and his fiance. I was never very good at it. I was asking them if they'd like to be left alone for a while and if so I'd be happy to leave.
I did find the perfect way to get around chaperones; date outside the cult. That way there won't be anyone there to see you boinking. What perverts, wanting people to watch you doing it.
