No, I don't think we're in the last days at all. People talk now about how horrible the world is and point to all the news reports about bad things happening. Never mind that we have such advanced technology that we can have those reports. All I know is that I would rather be alive right here, right now, than at any other point in history.

i was thrift store shopping as i always do on saturdays, and came across some older jw literature (as i often do at thrift stores) it was a very simple tract, i forgot the title, but it had a picture of the flood, and if you look closely you see a dinosaur drwoning in the flood.
was this really the official position of the society, and is that still the case?
you'd have to be astoundingly ignorant of science to beleive dinosaurs walked the earth with man only 6,000 years ago.. -dan
I know my JW family still believes that man and dinosaurs lived at the same time. My wife never really knew the phsycoticness of them until I was talking about how a meteorite killed the dino's around my family. Whenever I said that everyone there just stopped and stared at me for a few seconds until my sister gained enough exposure to tell me that the flood killed the dinosaurs. Ever since that day my wife never questions me anymore about how crazy JW's are. Apparently the JW's have spent a little too much time watching the Flintstones......

i was in a bookstore trying to forget the day when my father called me and told me that my grandfather had died.
he had passed only five minutes after we had left.. someone else was wondering what happens when we die.
well, i was reading the chronicles on narnia (something i do when i'm feeling a little lost), and something at the end of the last battle caught me eye.. "the term is over: the holidays have begun.
I remember when my grandma died. This was right about the time that I was realizing how full of crap the WTS was and was feeling guilty that I hadn't been around for Christmas or birthdays. She had cancer and everyone knew that she was dying but just didn't know when. My wife and I were asleep in bed when I was woke up. There was a bright light at the foot of the bed and a figure when I heard her voice telling me to not worry about her, that she was going to a better place, and that she loved me. Obviously, I wondered just what the hell was going on and started to ask when the light just got so bright and I couldn't see anything. It was comforting and somehow I just knew that everything was alright. I've never felt anything like that. I can't remember anything else until a few hours later when my mom called and woke us up and told me that grandma died that night. What's even crazier is that I emailed my aunts (never were JW's) and apparently one of my cousins had been feeling bad that he wasn't here towards the end (we're all in Indiana and my cousin was in the Navy down in Texas) and he got the same message from her. That is the only reason that I can believe in any form of afterlife.

"All I Want Is You" by U2 for the first song at my wedding. Cool song plus appropriate because we met because I had some extra tickets for a U2 concert.

Santa is the center of the celebration, not Jesus, in most families from what I have seen. I know that tends to annoy certain Christian fundies, but suits me just fine.
Hey, we can use it for whatever we want it for. Its not like they came up with the idea on their own.

Oddly enough, despite the fact that I've been quick to point out on numerous occasions my nonbelief in the bible, I love Christmas. Hey, pretty lights, cards (thanks everyone!), presents, what's not to like?

yesterday i was in london city centre.. there were 14 salvation army people helping the homeless and street drifters get a meal and check on their health.
the sa were concerned for these people, blue with cold (it was -5 yesterday), yet doing there best to help those who were defenseless and at risk.
at the same time were 3 jw's at the other end of shaftsbury ave selling mags.. which was the true christians, those who helped ones who could not return the gift - or the preachers?.
Wait a minute, who needs to be a christian to do good works? I've done plenty of volunteer work and I'm definitely not a christian at all. Who was doing a greater service in this situation? The SA of course. I just find it annoying when christians talk about all the wonderful things that they do thinking you have to believe in the bible to do any of it. Its not like everyone who doesn't believe in it is out there pushing old ladies down, kicking puppies, and flinging their feces at everyone. Nonbelievers actually do good deeds and live the best they can as well, they're just not so cocky about it.

let's paint a little picture.. it's spring 2002. at 1200h gmt a radio and tv announcement is broadcast on almost all conventional frequencies, in appropriate formats according to the medium and the area.. it's from a bunch of pale violet humaniods who have come "in peace for all qw'z'x>kind".
they say they want to meet up with the un in full cnongress.. disbelief rapidly turns to amasement when cnn and other news-services provide footage of a large alien vessel descending into the river near the un.
large in this case means 5km long... and wisely, none of the sac jets sent to have a look pull a will smith or anything stupid, although one gets nudgeed gently away by an invisable beam of some sort when it gets too close.. let's say it becomes apparent the aliens are utter benign, happy to hand out technological aid, scientific knowledge, and hope to welcome the people of earth to your typical peaceful federation of planets (about 5,00 different species all told).. how do you think people would react?
Mr. Ovious says........ I think we'd not be alone in the world.
What's actually kind of cool about aliens is I may have some in my house. I'm being serious here. You've heard how some scientists may have found fossilized Martian bacterie in a few Mars meteorites, right? Well, there are 3 meteorites actually, Shergotty, Nakhla, and ALH84001. Of those three I own pieces of Shergotty and Nakhla. How cool is that?

"kylish, he was correct, leave people who have good intentions alone.....examine the liars within your biblical circle, because if they found you here, they would throw you out like they have us....just a thought.
"i think it would be a little hard for someone to throw me out of a religious organization i am not part of ..don't you think.
?......i have never came in here or any other place and claimed to be a jehovah's witness.
Even more important, why do they continue to contact us? Also, why not just argue on the board? I'm guessing that they just don't want to because then everyone could see the pathetic weakness of their arguements.
