by barry inhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qu3iu0hvv6s&feature=player_detailpage#t=3495s .
here is an sda agonizing about his church in front a congregation.
he would be regarded as very conservative and have some very much redundant teachings but would represent a large section of the church.

Wordpress 3.5 - warning!
by Juan Viejo2 inas many of you know, i am the webmaster for several jw discussion websites.
as a rule, any new site i install and maintain uses wordpress as it's background operating system.. while working on the new freeminds.org website, i happened to upgrade to the latest version of wordpress.
i immediately noticed some serious issues.. i was able to work around most of them using plugins or my own ingenuity, but then i noticed a few new issues that i simply could not resolve on my own.. the folks are wordpress have been swamped with support forum hits from irate users that upgraded and the found their sites were not nearly as functional as before and in some cases (loading and inserting media) were not working at all.. wordpress 3.4.5 is the last stable version.

As an athiest I am not offended by this video .. Their voices are spectacular! The concept of prayer during troubling times is something I obviously don't buy into, and I think it takes away from the ability to manage and solve your own problems which is, depsite what you believe, you're gonna end up doing anyway.. LOL

Dutchman launches life-sized replica of Noah's Ark
by bats in the belfry inhuibers, a christian, used books 6-9 of genesis as his inspiration, following the instructions god gives noah down to the last cubit.
translating to modern measurements, huibers came up with a vessel that works out to a whopping 427 feet (130 meters) long, 95 feet (29 meters) across and 75 feet (23 meters) high.
story here.. .

One other thought .. If the all-powerful all-knowing creator of the universe has issues with the few hundred thousand people currently living on the planet, and the best solution he can come up with is a massively destructive global flood that wipes out all life (not just humans) on the planet .. then I would prefer not to believe in him. He's a bit aggro and kind of a drama queen.

Even if it were possible to build a 400+ foot long wooden vessel that could float, withstand the motion and weight of all the animals of the world, and withstand the powerful ocean waves from a storm powerful enough to cover the entire Earth (it's not) .. that doesn't make the story of Noah any more believable than it was before.
1. without god creating new animals after the flood (the bible says he didn't) you would have to accept the concept of Macro Evolution (neither accepted by science or religion) to get the number of species diversions up to the what we see today, a mere 4000 years from the flood.
2. fish can not survive in a mixture of fresh and salt water (at least not that many) and therefore a worldwide flood would have wiped out 99.9% of all sea life on the planet, a fact that is easily debunked by going to your local aquarium.
3. plants and trees can not survive submerged under water for 150+ days .. Seedlings that may have been able to survive would have been buried under almost 40 feet of sediment from the flood, and therefore would not have been able to receive proper oxygen and sunlight to germinate, and therefore our planet would have no plant life ( and certainly not a budding olive tree immediately following the flood that the dove could have brought back to Noah).
4. bacterium, insects, and birds ( none of which were invited on the ark ) all would have been wiped out in the flood. Yet we seem them all around us. I killed a spider not more then 5 minutes ago.
So yeah .. huge unsailable boat .. that's the least of my concerns regarding the accuracy of the flood of Noah.

That's interesting that after 5 years they finally got around to checking on you .. LOL
I had a few people who checked up on me on a fairly regular basis right after I split, but when I didn't immediately "turn back to Jehovah" they all vanished in the wind. Then 6 months or so, the elders started back with the calls again. When I made it clear to them that I didn't buy the dogma, that I believed in Evolution, and that I was *GASP* gay... They stopped calling.
Recently they started up again, but just breif messages about needing to talk to me .. translation : we need to DF you cause we're bored on Friday night. I've ignored those, but it did make me wonder if I should remove myself from the equation and just DA myself.
Then I realize I just don't care enough to pen the letter and spend the stamp to send it. HAHA

think i'm becoming an atheist
by rather be in hades ini was just thinking about how often i prayed when i was going downhill.. now i subscribed wholeheartedly to the 'don't pray for bullshit requests' concept, so at first i rarely prayed.. starting around middle school, 9/10 i prayed for friends.
didn't really pray to stop the teasing, my fists did some of that and besides...racism isn't/wasn't jehovah's fault anyway and i can't pray for that to end when he allowed the witnesses to suffer in ww2.. through high school, same issue and then when i started pioneering and hanging out with some of the other witnesses, those prayers prayers for friends intensified cuz they were asses.. but they were dominated by the prayers to love god starting around 15. i didn't want to read the magazines, despite how much i love reading.
didn't want to stdy the lessons, didn't want to plan my presentations, though i did enjoy giving the talks and crafting them.

Personally, while I don't believe that a "God" exists, I can't really prove that with any sort of imperical data, so I stick with the moniker of Agnostic. I know he/she/it doesn't give a shit about me, and I pay he/she/it the same courtesy.
I find it ironic that Atheists have a habit of touting the believe in only what you can prove, but are the loudest about stating there is no god .. so my response.. prove it.

From my experience, if you were rich in the world, you were generally "rich in the truth" .. all the millionaires that I have known, specifically businessmen, have all held elderships in the congregation .. most didn't deserve them.
