I've bumped into a few of them when visiting Brooklyn, Walkill, and Patterson. I shook Leo Greenlees' hand when he visited our circuit for a special talk. I think I'll go wash that hand again...

I love these charts!
I wonder how many hours of preaching it took to convert 1 person back in, say, 1973 or 1974?
When my family joined in 1972 my folks had studied for about a year, but some studies lasted a few hours. All the same, it took less than 100 hours of bible study to convert 4 people in my family. The brother who studied with us was fairly new and was a regular publisher, not a pioneer.

I left in 2004 when the number of partakers was still below 10,000, so this info absolutely cracks me up. How can they explain a nearly 30% growth in the number of partakers? They can't all be psychotic.

2012 report analysis - growth of JWs according to local internet availability
by cedars inhi everyone.
i did a similar chart to the one below last year, but this year i thought i'd make it slightly more meaningful by giving the statistics across three years rather than just one.. hopefully it's fairly self explanatory.. i'm making the data i've used available in a separate pdf download for those who are interested.. .

What an interesting graph! They do well in proselytizing until you get to the 50% penetration group, then there's a precipitous drop-off. They're goin' down!

Of Bethel a Place of Homosexualiy,Drunkness,Psychotic Episodes,Brawls,Sucide,Immorality,Deceit, Control and Cynism
by Scott77 in"...the intimacy with farm animals is true.
[beastiality], theft, homosexuality, drunkeness, psychotic episodes, brawls, suicide, immorality, deceit and control is all true.
the sad thing is seeing young women wanting to marry a bethelite thinking that she is getting the 'cream of the crop' and they are probably worse than a so-called worldly person...the cynicism was palpable...the most emotionally unhealthy environments to be a part of...socially disfunctional people..."wheres caleb?http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/scandals/218165/3/your-most-disturbing-watchtower-bethel-branch-experience-no-full-names-please.

I had to go back and read that thread. Holy smokes! My brother was at the House o' God for 18 years. He never told any stories like that!
Ex-husband was a Bethelite for 3 years. He did have a few stories, but nothing that shocking. Of course, he avoided BAs and kept his nose clean.

Does not the Watchtower instructs all new Bethelites that what happens in the Complex stay within it?
They sure do. I was never a Bethelite, but my ex-husband and my brother were - brother was there for 18 years and rose to a prominent position as the overseer of the water and sewage treatment plant at Watchtower Farm.
We had heard rumors that Leo Greenlees was asked to leave Bethel, so I called my brother to ask about it.
He said to me in the coldest voice imaginable, "Where did you hear that?"
I said, "From one of the sisters in the congregation."
He replied, "Listen to me, THAT is a family matter. Anything YOU need to know will be in the Watchtower."
It's interesting the observation that the ones who actually like the Bethel life seem to be sociopaths. I don't think that applies to my brother. He was very comfortable living with strict rules. My ex-husband, on the other hand, was definitely a sociopath.
One day he and I were watching a TV program on the subject of the psychological profile of a serial rapist. When the program finished, I looked at him and said, "That's you!" He answered, "Yeah, you're right."
He was only at Bethel for 3 years and left because he needed to get married so he could have sex. Once he was married (to me) he immediately wanted to go back to Bethel. I wasn't even old enough to apply, nor was I a pioneer, but we applied anyway - twice. Got turned down both times, thank goodness. But I was married to the creep (sex maniac) for 27 years before I left both him (he was threatening to kill me) and the Borg.
I believe that when the time comes both of them will drink the actual Kool-Aid quite cheerfully.

Can it be long before they come out with a new version of the NWT that conveniently agrees with the "new light?" There will be a talk at an assembly with an overly complicated explanation about Greek participles and gerunds that will put everybody to sleep so that the R&F rolls over and accepts the new bible.
