Gee whiz guys, late 50s isn't "old." "Old-er," perhaps, but definitely not ancient.

Jehovah's Witnesses Believe It or Not- Weird & Wacky Museum
by Think About It inyou've seen or heard about the ripley's believe it or not museums, where different weird & wacky items are displayed from human culture.
let's compile a list of the weird & wacky items from the jw religion that would make a great jw believe it or not museum.
maybe the wts could open one up it's own historical museum in brooklyn to make some big money.

When my family first joined the cult every JW house we visited seemed to have a framed photo of Nathan Knorr on the wall. One of those needs to go into the museum.

I hated lugging that stupid Paradise book around in FS. It weighed down my book bag.

Why has the WT not tried to shut down this board?
by hamsterbait inwe all know that beth hell monitors this site.. they have repeatedly had sites shut down for quoting large portions of their litterature.
not this one.. do you think this board enables them to keep a finger on the pulse of what is going on in ex and aposto land?

so if they have the truth why would they expose nonjw to this about the wt?
The cynic in me says that they know perfectly well they don't have the truth, but they're hell bent on not losing their posh lifestyle and positions of authority.

OMG...I missed the whole SPARLOCK craze....
by Pyramid Scheme ini hadn't been on the board to visit much last year, so i have been going back and poking around through the older threads since i started to post here.
i was on jwfacts.com, and noticed paul had posted a brief article about the jw video and the evil sparlock the warrior wizard.
we have no children, and i never got those videos anyway (even when i was still an elder), so when i went back and read all of the old threads, i was crying laughing.

Sparlock provided us with hours and hours of amusement (and a side dish of horror). What was especially fun was that before the video was released to the R&F, if any of them were shown the video online, they would deny absolutely that it was from the Society. That must have messed with their minds when they finally saw it.

Bethel perfection bubble burst
by redvip2000 injust got back from florida where i spent the holidays with family.
about half are jdubs.. this year the prevalent atmosphere of superiority from the jw side of the family was totally toned down.
one of my cousins, a bethelite in upstate ny bethel along with his wife, found out that the wife was having an affair with a young bethelite "brother".

Differing views of education in the JW cult
by hybridous inwhile reading the thread about the jw elder clearing his conscience, i had the thought.... .
while taking everyone's experiences in the jw org at face value, we all certainly had different influences present around us concerning education.. .
it is clear to me that within the jw org, there is a spectrum running from hard-liners to very liberal, in this particular matter.

I'm still angry about missing out on an education.
Back in the '80s there was a kid in our congregation who had an unbelieving father. The father "forced" the kid to go to college. We all felt so sorry for him. I'll bet he's glad he obeyed his father.
