i got a great email i need to format about several stupid elders and ministerial servants who read spoof jw urban legends from the platform.
big brother said one of the clowns did this while the c.o.

When my born-in ex-husband was a kid he wrote his own ministry school talks and sometimes said some really offbeat things from the platform. Before he went up to give his talks his parents would always tell him, "Tell the truth, Dave."

i ended up here after spending the past few months researching jw, without the blinders on.
i was a born-in, baptized as a teen, pioneered out of high school for a couple years (turning down a 4 year scholarship).
From our group of about 25 jw friends that we regularly associated with, 22 have left in the past two years.

here in sweden there has been som cases with changing the kingdom hall signs.
in some congregation the elders went nuts, in others they were calm and more or less laughed obout it.. but, someone probably discovered that it is possible to rearrange the letters in the word "rikets sal" (kingdom hall) into "skitarsle" ( direct translated "sh*t-a**hole", or freely translated: "a**hole full of sh*t, an invective) probably it were young boys doing this as a prank.
but it has happened in a lot of towns, and got some media attention.
What a hoot! I can only imagine the horror among the congregation members when they saw that.
i just read a post on monday aprox 9pm on the "escuela del ministerio teocratico/theocratic ministry school" on facebook (posted in spanish).. it is talking about an experience given in a ohio, circuit assembly.. it reads that a brother that was a worker at the factory obama was visiting, was able to preach briefly to president obama and place the book 'what does the bible teach' during a quick meet and greet.. i think its bullshit.. anyone ever heard of this experience at a assembly?.

1) contributing to charity- united way (religious origin), red cross (has the word cross in it so it must be wrong), salvation army (forget it), greenpece (political), donating to food banks at the holidays (why help someone celebrate a pagan holiday?
Good point, DR. I hated the no-charitable-giving, no-volunteering thing. Especially when the annual United Way fund drive was underway and my company was dead set on 100% employee participation - talk about pressure. I finally found one charity under that umbrella that wasn't religiously connected - United Cerebral Palsy - and was able to participate.
i'm curious, what can you expect to hear from jws this week?

since awakening, i find it to be hilarious when jws badmouth catholics and the pope but are completely oblivious to how hypocritical they are considering the gb and other wt heavyweights..

since many of you were kind enough to give your responses, or at least share in my confusion, i wanted to take some time to share things that went down in the last few days in my family.. to recap, i was born-in but thankfully the hogwash never took.
i was actively dodging meetings by age 13 by faking illness, usually missing 20 to 25 days of school per year.
i left my family to attend college and was told by a family member that an announcement was made in my local congregation the following year that i was disassociated.
Interestingly, up until 1988, unbaptized publishers could be da'd/df'd.
I remember a kid from my congregation getting DA'd "for conduct unbecoming a Christian."

My ex had male-pattern baldness similar to these guys. I told him I'd divorce him if he ever did the combover (that's not why I divorced him, btw). When his hair got to the point that simply parting it on the side started to look like a combover I suggested that he start combing it straight back. It looked so much better.
