In my former (yay!) congregation's territory there was a house where a family of Russelites lived. We had it marked as a DNC because they were apostates.

Did Russell Believe Anything Witnesses Do Now?
by konceptual99 inthis weeks wt study got me thinking as to if there was anything major that pre 1914 bible students believed that would be accepted by modern day witness.. as far as i can tell, they throught:.
1 - the last days had started in 1799.
2 - christ's presence had stated in 1874.

The July 15 Watchtower and all its new light is only...
by sosoconfused inmaking people cling to the organization more.
when i found out it was up i told so many people frantically that there is a new study article up and that it had so many changes.
my mother started crying saying how happy she is to be a part of an organization that is truly directed by jehovah... only the true faithful and discreeet slave could have such insight.... another person began to say how great it is to see the celestial chariot on the move.. .

Even if the R&F are happily swallowing right now, I'll bet many of them are faking it.
Back in 1995 when the first of the noo lite on "generation" came out, my first reaction was that it was a maneuver, but I swallowed it anyway. All the same, my skepticism had been ignited. Eventually it turned into a roaring inferno and I left in disgust.
So, don't give up just yet, SSC. It may take time, but some of the sheep will eventually be posting on this board and saying that the thing that got the apostate ball rolling for them was the F&DS noo lite.

How on earth did they ambush you? Were they on a stakeout?
Would you believe I actually did that with my elder husband once? He asked me to come with him early one morning, but he couldn't tell me why. He just wanted my observations. We parked in a residential area and just sat there. I asked him what I was looking for, but he said he couldn't tell me. After a while we left. Years later told me that the elders suspected one of the publishers of fornication and he was trying to catch them coming out of a particular house.

No more big District Conventions?
by serenitynow! inso i went to the hall today for a funeral and took a look at the bulletin board.
i was surprised to see a letter stating the dc for michigan would be held at the local assembly hall instead of the big convention center in ohio where it had been held the past few years.
have you all heard about this?.

Yep, that religion had balls.
You're right, LG. Back then they wanted publicity to advertise the king and his kingdom: "We're here. Get used to it." Now it's more like they want to fly under the radar. Wonder why?
I don't think it's been called a "bulletin board" for 35 or 40 years.
LOL! "Bulletin board" went out with "back call" and "rendezvous." That happened just after my family started attending in 1972.

JW Talk.net is SO LAME!
by Zordino inhere is just one of many example's of the nutty crap on the jw talk discussion forum.
there's another much crazier one about how a sister is in the "new system" and is talking to all of the animals and how they're not eating each other anymore including whales etc.
i will post it when i have more.

LOL! That gave me fresh reason to hate country music.
Speaking of time, how much of his valuable spare time did he spend on writing, arranging, and producing that song that he could have spent in field service? Hmmmmmmmm?

You Might Be a Jehovahs Witness if
by StinkyPantz2.0 in.
if a pioneer is not a stereo.. if new light never requires batteries.. if a tract has nothing to do with land.. if the new system isnt a car stereo.. if a great crowd isnt an easy to please audience.. if the friends are people you may or may not know.. if you can have a bible study without pulling out a bible.. if memorial day isnt in may.. if starting your time has nothing to do with getting paid or going to prison.. if you spent five days at a baseball stadium, and never saw a single pitch.. for more click here..

Active/Fading JWs...How Many Have Been DFd in Your Hall in the Last Year?
by LostGeneration inmy jw wife came home really upset a couple weeks back.
someone was "announced" at the hall that she really loves, a young woman.
it was the fourth person dfd from her hall since the beginning of 2012. two young people, one single mother, (those three probably for "sex crimes" but i don't know 100%) and one ms, which is the most interesting from my perspective because i knew the guy to always be a rebel, and i suspect it was for apostasy or he dad.

I've been out for 9 years, but in the rural congregation I attended for the last 10 years of my association we had exactly zero DFs. I was the first one in all that time, and I DA'd.

"You don't get a second chance to make a first impression" AAWA
by yesidid inthe first impression one has of any group or organization is its name.
that is my problem with "the name'.
active, or even questioning witnesses will undoubtedly be alarmed by the connotation of name.

Let's suggest better names. Hmmm.....How about "Association of Watchtower Apologists (not)" or "Association of Watchtower Tweakers" or "Association with Obfuscated Motives vis a vis the Watchtower Society" or "We Mean the Watchtower No Harm, Sort Of."
Seriously, the WTS is such a snake in the grass, why would those of us who are awake want to imitate them and disguise our true objectives?

Clawing out of poverty via (E)ducation, not education
by MTSman inokay, so i've been what i believe is called a, "lurker", on this site for about four years.
i honestly don't remember how i stumbled on to it, but i totally get everyone here.
i'm a, "born in", pinoneered for like six-teen years, servered where the need is great several times, and even went to the, as the name alludes to, mts before it became a watered down theocratic ministry school.

Welcome, MTSman! Great story, and you have a talent for writing. I enjoyed reading it.
Of course I never went to college and have been toiling away at office-clerk-type jobs for my whole life. But, my unbelievably lucky brother, who was a Bethelite for 18 years, learned an actual lucrative job skill while he was in there. When he left he was running the water/sewer treatment plant at WT Farm. So now he's living in Maui and earning big bucks working at the Maui County water treatment plant. He has a beautiful house and a comfortable life, and I'm still out here (really out since I DA'd) trying to eke out a living with my meager skills and circuitous "career" path.
Good for you, getting yourself "eddikated," and for getting out while you're still relatively young!
