There is a “bigger play” at work here.

There was a quiet little announcement a few months ago that sexual practices shouldnt be discussed, a wink/nod to anal and oral sex being sort of kinda ok now (again)

its followed up by a memo to elders (shared on other threads here i see) about elders myob’ing on sex issues

the article from this weekend, after a quick skim, was designed to negate those two ‘policies’ with weasel language about respecting you wife and not demeaning her sexually etc etc.

net net, “official” policy is that any sex is good sex, they stay out of it, should anyone ask. Unofficially, but what will be referenced by all elders, is the article from this past weekend where they will refer to demeaning sex and tie that to oral and anal.

TLDR: This all PR, nothing has changed. Blow jobs are still bad.

for years and years growing up in this cult, i had to constantly hear from my parents, from the stage, in the literature, about "keeping your eye simple", not being "materialistic", not "having a showy display of one's wealth.

" of course, this never seemed to apply to the wealthy business owning elduhzzzz who ran and lorded it out over the congregations, but i digress.

years ago rick fearon hosted on his six screens podcast a person identified as "johnny the bethelite" who talked about goings-on in watchtower headquarters.. johnny talked about the experiments with cart work.. johnny talked about pedophiles and child pornography in jw headquarters.. people claimed "johnny" was a fraud.

Come on man…. There is no view of the watch. Im an avid amateur horologist and reject both the assumption that its a rolex and the price cited. Secondary markets are the primary markets for rolex and older two tone subs can be had for 10k.

Stop with the dramatics and let their flawed theology speak for itself

Its far to easy to say that if current members dont know its because they dont want to… its a high control group and they are discouraged from thinking about thing, kept busy in unpaid advertising and meeting attendance designed to reinforce their beliefs, and they have their own lives to live day to day.

The simple truth is, everyone believes things, objectively, that are not true and many more things that are subjectively questionable at best.

Dont be so quick to assume that are not issue that others are saying you are willfully blind to.

Id prefer to help the jw’s i know think as opposed to dismissing them as gullible, encourage them to be authentic and not dismiss them as automatons… but youf milage may vary

with ww3 on the horizon the watchtower is bringing out their best hits on the issue of neutrality and the latest instalment on jw.org with stephen lett has the theme " why ancient israelites were allowed to go to war but as a christian you can't " or to paraphrase for a 2024 audience " why the modern state of israel is allowed all the nuclear weapons to defend their borders but you as a western european or north american you aren't supposed to compliant against open border policies and uncontrolled illegal migration" isn't that the exact same rhetoric or is it my imagination?

so one of stephen lett's go to arguments is that christians do not take up arms because we don't live in ancient times where israelites had a mandate to occupy the holy land where as we gentile christians we don't.

Any information about a special talk on Marriage in December 2024

two folks from the local kh visited the house yesterday looking for my wife who is an on again off again baptized jw.

wife was not available so they asked me to tell her about a special talk on marriage next week.

any outlines available for this ‘special talk’ or could this potentially be a local issue?.

Almost certainly the CO visit. All week in field serve us they pimp his sunday talk as a ‘special’ talk.

My humble advise is to blow it off, but whatever makes you happy. Its not new nor special.

Explanation for changes to Disfellowshipping rules at Annual Meeting

wally, a youtuber from jw thoughts highlighted something that was said by kenneth cook jnr in the annual meeting.

he thinks it may be removed before they publish the agm.

i doubt we would see it in writing either.. part of kenneth's talk was about the changes regarding disfellowshipping and the clip from jw thoughts youtube shows him saying -.

Im admittedly no fan of bible doctrine but i am not bias in saying, taking the words of a self serving pharisee and establishing a decades long policy of social intimidation, family alienation, harassment and bullying is beyond the scope of any common usage and shows the truth of the phrase ‘power corrupts and absolute power corrupts, absolutely.

The gb took the words they wanted, to mean what they wanted, do what they wanted. Thats the truth.
