did the elders ask for pubs to donate towards the building of this new assembly hall and is it to be used for weekly meetings?
i note it is to be used for 40 2- day assemblies per year but throughout the week would it stand vacant or be used by congregation meetings?.

We will need to see how much money they actually received in contributions to build and compare it to the actual costs for construction.
I forgot to mention...Orangeburg is pure country, there is NOTHING to do in Orangeburg. I don't know where all that money is going to be spent at, especially when people are told to bring their own lunches.

A friend (who is a commerical contractor) told me that there is no way that building cost 10 million dollars to build. He said labor alone is normally the most expensive in construction, materials alone should have cost somewhere around 1-3 million.
Also, I know for a fact all the concrete poured in that assembly hall was performed and supplied for free by a very wealthy JW who owns a concrete company. So rule that cost out of the equation.

like really hard, comparing them to jeremiah's time where he was thrown in stocks, down a well, etc.

I have non-jw friends who will give me the clothes off their back regardless of my opinions or beliefs, I'd rather have these friends than any JW.
Additionally, many "worldly friends" have gone to war and have given their lives for the freedoms excercised by the Watchtower. I can't say the Watchtower would do the same for their neighbor.

I prefer to read about the God of the New Testament. The OT God is very insecure, jealous, and narcissistic. The Old Testament portrayal of Yahweh displays a more human personality, that which you find among dictators. No wonder Marcion of Sinople said the OT God couldn't have been the God of Jesus, it doesn't add up. You either are love, or you are not. Your history either backs up love and forgiveness or it doesn't. Of course I am agnostic and have lost my faith in much of the bible, but I do respect and live by many of it's christian principles.

the theme for this year was safeguard your conscience, and you guessed it, they looked up every reference to the word 'conscience' in the bible and then wrote a talk about each one.
it was most definitely a case of "pack your bags, we're going on a guilt trip.".
Also, wedding ceremonies are pagan in origin.. so why should you be having them in the holy Kingdom Hall anyway? Haha just a thought for these legalistic "pagan-free" pharisees. You could always tell the elders that since wedding ceremony roots are so embedded with paganism you wish not to have it at the hall .

i mean almost all of them do but this one is one of those articles that takes things too far.. i mean they are condemning the people who are trying to help/save the earth because it's "satan's" world and instead are saying that religious salesmen with magazines are doing way more than the others!like are you f**king kidding me?another reason why i hated this study article is for what some of the young ones did in response to the study.

I had a friend who was very OCD about having his car clean, everytime we grabbed fast food from a drive thru, he would-- once he finished-- toss out his entire bag and drink out the car. I remember I told him how he shouldn't litter, he turned to me and said, "When Armageddon comes, im gonna have to clean it all up anyway, so why worry about it now?." Obviously this isn't the attitude of all JWs, however they do have a careless attitude about the earth (magazines = trees) and local communities since God is gonna handle it all in the future. Thus, their activities for ophans, widows, charities, education, etc. are completely absent. Their only interest is to convert, if you don't convert they could care less about you as a neighbor.

A year before I learned TTATT, I remember I made an effort to study 2 WT magazines completely within a week to be way ahead of schedule. It was the March 2010 and April 2010 Watchtowers. By the time I was done with both of them I remember thinking..."Wow its all the same, same content just repeated over and over--nothing new at all". Of course, this thinking was followed up by my indoctrination, "Well Jehovah must really want me to memorize this".

Some like to find fault with the organisation, they cast aside the trust that comes loyal service.
The organization finds fault with the entire human race, religions, political governments, movies, music, entertainment, former members, etc. Yet they demand pure immunity when they themselves have shit the bed. They cannot even meet the very standards they have set for themselves! With an embarassing history that is heavily documented (within their own publications) of committing apostasy way before any of us were born.
Why dedicate a whole assembly to this subject? Because we are in a fight. The Devil wants to make our conscience falter.
A fight against irrefutable facts not the Devil. Facts can cause anyone's conscience to start rejecting WT dogma regardless of the years of service dedicated. Our pressupositions are organic and change according to data. When we recieve additional data our presuppositions or conscience changes accordingly.
Brothers, have you ever nicked your neck while shaving and got blood spots on your collar? Sisters, have you ever nicked your finger while preparing dinner and got blood on your dress? The blood is hard to get rid of. How on earth could one get rid of bloodguilt?
Fallacious reasoning first off. Secondly, I wonder what kind of blood guilt the governing body has felt over Malawi/Mexico? When organ transplants were considered cannibalism? When fractions weren't allowed? When Jws commit suicide when having to face disfellowshipping? If you want to avoid bloodguilt, stop being one of Jehovah's Witnesses and practice love, real love, unconditional love.
Weddings. We do all things for God's glory. When a couple are making arrangements for this, they should always keep Jehovah in mind. They would of course want to use a Kingdom Hall, because they love and are thankful to Jehovah as the originator of mariage. The husband would take the lead in the arrangements. There are no rules, but many have chosen to have a modest small occasion that focuses on praise of Jehovah.
When my wife and I were getting married we avoided the route of using the kingdom hall (lecture hall building for a wedding was not in our taste). Friends who ended up using the KH for their wedding told us they will interrogate you prior to your use of the Hall to get a final confession on whether your engagement was "clean" or free from sexual misconduct. This is a bait and switch tactic for sure.
