Wow so many new members the last few days.. Good to see. Welcome Comatose, I am still in unfortunately also born in and a MS. I also am married and can so relate to your feelings right now, wanting to say to your wife how you truly feel but not wanting to hurt her. Just know you are not alone, and be happy that no matter whether you are physically in or out, you have freed your mind from the bonds, and to me that is the most important step. It can be torture to go to a meeting when you are tuned in to the mind control tactics and lies and manipulation, and can see the self righteousness leaching out of the pages of the WT and into people we care about, but You are not alone, just know that. It is a great comfort to me.
Have you read Crisis of Conscience or In Search of Christian Freedom by Ray Franz yet? If not I would really suggest it, also jwfacts.com.

Ironic the watchtower conductor made a point to say how he hates disfellowshipping people and how elders really dont do the judging, its jehovah, and elders only do the paperwork? wtf?
Then he said there was a WT conductor that said after a WT lesson that he conducted that If solomon is getting a ressurection into paradise then he didnt want to be part of this religion, he walked off the stage and never was seen again.
Amazing how they say you can be forginving only after the elders "judge"someone as repentant. Revolting!
Hypocites in the fullest.

The San Antonio Theater Shooting the National Media Ignored
Written by Bob Adelmann
At approximately 9:25 p.m. on Sunday night, December 16, just two days after the horrific shootings in Newtown, Connecticut, Jesus Manuel Garcia, age 19, entered the China Garden restaurant across the mall from the Santikos Mayan Palace 14 theater complex in San Antonio, Texas, looking for his ex-girlfriend. Angered that she had just broken up with him, he sent her a text message saying that he planned to go to the restaurant where she worked and “shoot somebody.”
Before she could warn patrons at the restaurant Garcia entered and started shooting. One bullet slightly wounded one patron while others scattered out the exit doors and headed for the safety of the theater lobby across the mall. Garcia chased them and continued shooting.
This got the attention of an armed off-duty law-enforcement officer who was working at the theater, Bexar County sheriff’s Sgt. Lisa Castellano, who chased Garcia to the back of the theater where he ducked into the men’s room. When he emerged, Castellano shot him four times which immediately and effectively ended the threat. Garcia was handcuffed with the help of another off-duty officer and taken to the hospital where he was listed in stable condition. He was charged with attempted capital murder of a police officer and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and his bail was set at $1 million.
In reporting the incident, local news recalled the Aurora, Colorado, theater attack last July. Hollie O’Connor, who covered the story for mysanantonio.com, said: "The shooting immediately sparked fears of a mass slaying like the one in July that killed 12 people and injured 58 at a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado." She included a quote from one Cassandra Castillo, the mother of the theater's projectionist, who was worried about her son’s safety in the incident. Said Castillo, “It brings back memories of the other theater shooting and the elementary school shooting. You think only the worst.”
But the national media ignored this story, even though the shooting occurred just two days after the Newtown shooting. It wasn't just a case that (thankfully) no one was killed in the San Antonio incident. Very likely, no one was killed because of the timely intervention of the armed off-duty officer. If the media were honestly looking for solutions to gun violence, they should have jumped on the San Antonio to show the difference a good person with a gun can make. But they didn't, apparently because it does not fit the narrative that the mainstream media promote — that is, that guns cause violence rather than prevent it.
In their coverage of the Aurora theater tragedy, the media made much of the weaponry used by James Holmes and his ability to purchase his weapons and his body armor and ammunition online without difficulty. The coverage pointed to the horrors of Holmes' “assault” weapons as the cause of the tragedy while ignoring that the theater was a “gun-free zone." No suggestion was ever made that the gun-free zone mandated by the theater made it an attractive target for Holmes because he knew he would meet no resistance.
Though they gave the Aurora theater shooting mega-publicity and spun it in a way that meshed with their anti-gun agenda, the major media almost completely ignored another Aurora shooting that occurred last April. In the little-reported shooting, 29-year-old Kiarron Parker, after killing his first victim outside an Aurora church, immediately encountered armed resistance from a churchgoer who killed him before he could take any more innocent lives.
The San Antonio theater shooting was neutralized by armed resistance before anyone was killed. The off-duty officer recognized the threat and was trained to meet it and she did — so successfully in fact that the city gave her a medal for her actions.
When Wayne LaPierre, executive director of the National Rifle Association, suggested that potential threats be met with armed resistance in schools so that future massacres can be avoided, the media just scoffed, quoting various gun-control advocates that the last thing needed in schools is more guns. It widely disseminated President Obama’s comment that he is “skeptical that the only answer is putting more guns in schools ... that that somehow is going to solve our problem.”
The April Aurora church shooting and the recent San Antonio theater shooting should be more than enough to persuade all but the most hardened and determined enemies of the Second Amendment that the best thing is for more people to be armed and enabled to resist threats like these, rather than fewer. But the media aren't listening. Those incidents don’t fit the narrative

What argument do Witnesses use to justify shunning DA ones?
by BU2B ini may be late on this, but i was just thinking yesterday about how witnesses justify shunning.
mainly the scripture in 1 corinthians that says to stop mixing in company with anyone called a brother who engages in various sins.
therefore if someone was to write a letter stating that they no longer wish to be known as a jehovahs witness, what justification do they use for shunning that person?

That person may DA and live a clean life, even if they dont it shouldnt matter because they are not "called a brother". I know they didnt used to shun DA ones but that they likely changed the rule to entrap Ray Franz and a excuse to get him for eating with his employer.

What do you mean?! I ALWAYS go to the beach after service and wear long pants and button up shirts while I play a game in the sand with my family! Sometimes I wear button up long sleeve shirts too!
by Crisis of Conscience inthe wts likes to imply how jws should dress in and outside of the hall.
you always want to set an example.. so i couldn't help but share this beauty in the january 15th, 2013, study edition of the watchtower.
i always go to the beach like this!

This Is one of my biggest peeves, the way the WT depicts witnesses either at gatherings, at school or work, at the park and now the beach. Why do the guys always seem to be in buisness causual attire? Why would you dress buisness casual on the beach?
I live in NY near lake erie and ontario, so there are plenty of beaches to go to. From 1st and second hand conversations, most witness women around here feel that a 2 piece swimsuit is indecent and immodest Most in my immediate area would wear knee length shorts and a dark t shirt to the beach.
Also, I just heard from my cousin that their congregation went to the beach and ont married young brother who is very muscular wore trunks and no shirt as is normal on the beach.. An elder pulled him to the side and told him, you need to put a shirt on, the sisters may get "hot and bothered" and you may stumble others. IT IS A CULT!!!!

Your earliest doubt?
by Apognophos inthis might be an unfair question for those who have been out of the organization for decades, but i'm wondering if any of you remember your earliest doubt -- maybe something odd that occurred to you as a kid (if you were a jw then).
please try to limit to two doubts at the most :-).
i think my first "doubt" was simply realizing that at the time of the flood, every animal that wasn't in the ark died (well, besides the fish, supposedly).

Hard to label the earliest one, but one of them was the Watchtower teaching that no one who died cold marry in the new world. (I realize now Jesus was referring to heavanly life) I always thought about how cruel this seemed. I picture a couple who love each other very much who both died in a accident, the next thing they know they awaken in the new world! Only they cant be together anymore. Can you imagine the longing, the passion for one another, and then to be forcibly separated? Sounds more like hell to me. What about the wife that dies and is resurected only to see her husband with another woman happily living life, while she is alone. I thought, even If I got to be married in the new world, I couldnt bear to see all the others who were ressurected wwith no one.
Docile, zombie like animals, buisness casual clothes at all times? I always heard the witnesses say they are going to travel here or there, build this or that, sail the world etc. Somehow from the time I was in my teens I knew that this would not be a world where you could do what you want. I would be like bethel, rigid, plenty of rules, and you do what youre told.
I came to realize I didnt want to live in this place and didnt care weather it was true or not, and only then did I begin to do outside research and found out TTATT.

A Witnesses Conscience=A watchtower Library search on that subject.
by BU2B ina real christian, when deciding on a matter would read scripture, pray, and based on their scriptural understanding make a decicion based on their conscience.
unfortunately, most witnesses would rather do a search on wtl on the subject and do whaterver the unfaithful and discraceful "slave" says.
they are exactly like the pharisees with their traditions of men and rulemaking legalism who "make the scriptures invalid" with their going beyond them..

Plants before insects?
by BU2B inok heres a thought i recently saw, and it floored me!
its something i amazingly never thought of, it seems to be hiding in plain sight.. as we know most if not all plants need insect pollination to live.
without ants, bees, flies etc.. pollinating them, they would not reproduce right?

Fudementalist Genesis Beliefs
by BU2B ini have always, even when mentally in been so amazed at some of the claims of witnesses and others regarding genesis.
one of these is the thought that before the flood, animals and humans were all vegetarians.
i remember asking my dad when i was little about why tyranasaurous rex teeth looked so fearsome and sharp if they were vegetarians.

I have always, even when mentally in been so amazed at some of the claims of Witnesses and others regarding Genesis. One of these is the thought that before the flood, animals and humans were all vegetarians. I remember asking my Dad when I was little about why Tyranasaurous Rex Teeth looked so fearsome and sharp if they were vegetarians. He actually said it could have been to crack open coconuts lol!!
Also when asked about the existence of dinosaurs at all, I have heard several times that they were here to help flatten and pound the earth and help it settle!!
When a person looks at the clear design of predatory animals such as sharks, spiders, scorpions, snakes, eagles, falcons, etc it should be clear these were designed to kill. Why does an eagle need such great vision if it was made to eat plants? Why does a cheetah need to be able to run 70mph to eat plants? Why do snakes and spiders and scorpions have venom if they eat plants? Why do sharks have endless rows of teeth? to eat seaweed? Why do spiders build webs?
How can anyone honestly look at a crocidile and think it wasnt built to kill? Im just stunned sometimes at the belief in these things that seem to defy logic, but I guess nothing should suprise me now.
