Good points. I always struggled with this even when I was mentally in. I could never really "Love Jehovah" like I was told to because I found what he ordered done extremely disturbing at best. If I had a human father who did the things "Jehovah" does, I would probably kill him in his sleep. Too dangerous to be kept alive.

THE BIBLE ADVOCATES GENOCIDE?
by steve2 inhave biblical apologists satisfactorily explained the blood-drenched biblical passages in which jehovah orders his people to wipe out every living soul - young, old, men, women, child, infirm - in the territory they're told to invade?.
who needs bin laden when you've got jehovah?
or is jehovah excused because he's truly mightier, like, because he's the creator he can call the shots, no matter how much and who's blood is shed?

Sometimes we all need to rant DS. You hear over and over how the holidays are often one of the biggest obstacles people overcome in becoming JWs. I think this is because it is often the only time everyone can get off work and school and b together. Upon becoming JW they know that the family bond will be severly damaged, and it is most of the time.
Thanks for sharing my man.. Hang in there please.. We will make it through.

I just discovered this wonderful article comparing how JWs view changes made to other religions doctrine, vs how it is for them. Here are a few samples.
“Changes That Disturb People
A businessman in Medellín, Colombia, expressed the effect the changes have had on many. “Tell me,” he asked, “how can I have confidence in anything? How can I believe in the Bible, in God, or have faith? Just ten years ago we Catholics had the absolute truth, we put all our faith in this. Now the pope and our priests are telling us this is not the way to believe any more, but we are to believe ‘new things.’ How do I know the ‘new things’ will be the truth in five years?” What are some of these changes that disturb people?”
Awake! April 22, 1970, p.8.The Effect The effect upon many devout Catholics has been devastating. “All these years I thought it was a sin to eat meat,” explained a housewife in the midwestern United States. “Now I suddenly find out it isn’t a sin. That’s hard to understand.” If you are a Catholic, can you understand how a practice that was considered by the Church a “mortal sin” can suddenly be approved? if it was a sin five years ago, why is it not today? Many Catholics cannot understand. When a woman in Canada was asked how she felt about the changes in her church, she replied: “I don’t know. Maybe you can tell me. What are they going to do with all those people sent to hell for eating meat on Friday?”
Not just a few Catholics have asked such questions. The change in teaching has shaken their confidence in the Church. Would you not feel the same way if what you had always been taught to be vital for salvation was suddenly considered unnecessary? Would you not be inclined to question other teachings of your church also?” Awake! April 22, 1970, p.8-10This is compared to the WT flip flops on organ transplants. I am thinking about going over the 1970 awake article during the "Family Worship Evening" Maybe it will cause some serious cognitive dissonance. I may just read parts of it and ask her what her thoughts are about it. Anything she says will probaply cause the dissonance becuse it can so easily be applied to the ongoing changes of the WT.
The link is definitely worth checking out.

Is it wrong to play GTA 5?
by Brother Mike inis it okay to play as a jehovah's witness?
or is it just a conscience thing?.
-
BU2B
Well it was mentioned at the last CA as a no no. (along with paintball, and by extension lasertag. There are no loopholes) More than the violence, the brother giving the talk brought out how there was (gasp) nudity i the game. Typical of JWs and of Americans in general to be thrown into a tizzy by nudity, but much more tolerant of graphic violence.

Great Job! It is so amazing how they twist words and meanings, saying normal family bonds continue, even when this only refers to family UNDER THE SAME ROOF, he made it seem like it meant all family. Im sure he is taught to use "theocratic warfare"

Experiences: CAA needs to emotionally vomit... catharsis... release ... etc.
by confusedandalone inok, so i have been on this journey for about a year or so.
i feel like i am no longer a part of this whacked out religion, however at the same time after spending so many years in it there have been a huge array of things that have happened to me that i feel i need to talk about.
not because they will help anyone who reads them, not because they are the slightest bit interesting, but because i can no longer keep them bottled up and expect to move on.. alot of things i have experienced hurt me deeply... although i was able to move forward with my life these things tend to hang around in my mind because i have never been able to tell anyone outside of my wife.

Thanks for sharing CAA... You have definetly had some ups and downs in your life.. Some of it sounds pretty exciting though. Glad you have got through all of this.

How can i continue my fade vs the rubber band theorem that pulls my wife in
by DS211 inim at a crossroads my friends.
im beginning to feel that my oppurtunities to get my wife out are waning.
weve misssed many meetings she still smokes a cig a day.
-
BU2B
I would let it slip out to the elders that she smokes. The unloving, harsh treatment she will experience may jar her into waking up to the true nature of the WT. Sometimes only a big event in someones life can serve as the impetus to finally get them to see what they did not before.

When I was at an assembly when I was around 5 or 6 years old, I was running through the hallway and Cary Barber stopped me and said to "stop running! This is not the place to play!" When he gave his talks in the afternoon, I was so afraid he would mention this.. Ahh the mind of a child..
