  The BEST way to "wake up" a JW

  we have debated this over many years and in many threads, as all of us have family and/or former friends still in.

  it seems that there is no "best" way to wake up a jw, it is as elusive as the "true" religion it seems.. but a comment made by poster "emery" on another thread stood out to me, he/she said :.

  "what i have gathered is that most witnesses seem to be in it for emotional reasons.

  it is common, as a thought-stopping mechanism amongst jehovah's witnesses, to use phrases like "don't question jehovah" or "don't question the organization".

  often, as evidenced in a recent watchtower study article, biblical examples are given like that of diotrephes, who opposed john in the first century, or korah, dathan, and abiram, who questioned moses' authority and were barbecued in the wilderness.

  these are pointed to as examples of those who questioned jehovah and suffered condemnation or even death as a result.

  Maybe I should study this at my next family worship evening. After all it was "food at the proper time" wasnt it?

  This could be a reason they want JWs to use the online library that only goes back to 2000, not 1950 like the WT Library. To many embarrasing things.

  Wow they are so prudish it is shocking. Some fundys here in the states were so prudish that they wanted the penis slightly visible on the Bison our Buffalo Nickel to be edited out.. Just Wow. That is all.

  They are Definitely Attacking "Higher Education"

  a friend of mine recently had his co visit and in the elders meeting the co out-right asked the question: how are the friends doing in your cong.

  as regards pursuing higher education?

  the co continued...you know in view of all the counsel from the slave regarding the dangers.

  Welcome to the Forum! You have at least 3 things on your side that most here dont. 1 you are very young with your whole life ahead of you,

  2. You have woken up to TTATT before getting baptised and cannot be DF

  3. You have not gotten married and had kids with a JW and then woken up and have to spend every day thinking about how to wake them up and rescue them.

  I envy you in the friendliest way possible. I dont know how old you are but lay low, get an education with a view to a good paying carreer in a field you enjoy, then you can start a fully normal life.

  I like the part where he said "Do you know who we aaaare?? Were the council of Jerusalem"! He said it with such inflection to prove the point of how thats NOT how the brothers in Jerusalem were, and Paul and the others operated without their direction.

  but, the human government received an intervention of god when he confused the languages ?

  Good point. If god can intervene because of petty jealousy (he said there will be nothing they CANNOT accomplish if I dont confuse the languages) then why cant he intervene to ohh say stop the holocaust, or maybe the Rwandan genocide. Let me get this straight.. Man builds tall building(must be stopped) but 7,000,000 people gassed, shot, or starved to death is ok.

  Even according to the Bible it seems obvious that God wants to stop anything that shows humans can work together in peace to a unified goal, but when there is starvation, genocide, disease, etc he lets it happen because it "proves" we need him. Yeah Jehovah is a real lovable charachter.
