How many famous Jw's are there??? Musicians, actors, sports figures...etc..
I remember George Benson, Larry Graham (bass player for Sly and the Family Stone) and Van Morrison being Jw's...
Anymore?

when i was younger, i listened to groups like genesis, supertramp, pink floyd, and so much more.
were these groups also popular in the united states, or was it just england and canada?
when i used to go to the hall, i never listened to that kind of music because i felt it didn't match the religion i was in.
Being a younger guy, with an older brother and sister... I grew up listening to "Good Music".. but neither one of them liked Genesis, as far as I can remember..So, I aquired a taste for Genesis on my own.. I already loved: Rush, Yes, ELP... So I fugured I'd like Genesis. The early stuff is an aquired taste... But, Gabriel has a wonderful voice, and when I started listening to the earlier Genesis stuff, I have a new found respect for Collins as a drummer. I do like the the "Newer Genesis stuff also...late 70's early 80's, post Gabriel.
What's funny, when I was younger, my sister would tell me that all the brothers at the hall, listened to Black Sabbath...That really freaked me out... But, I like Sabbath also...
i thought it was...untill i saw lilly munster being the first to claim that she did it.
then i thought..."no".
We are not God.
with all this talk about the wts owning stock in the military and all.. is this the real question?
when i was a jw, gambling was considered a no-no.
isn't owning/buying/dealing in stocks, in itself gambling?

anyone here into vinyl?.
no this is nothing pervy.. i'm in a musical mood today and one of my passions is buying records.. (not collecting records as i actually buy them to listen to).
i still buy records on vinyl rather than cd when i can, the packaging is much better and if you have a good record player so is the sound.. it getting hard to find much nowadays in a lot of record stores.. theres an excellent record shop near me though that stocks a ton of the stuff.now wheres all my wages gone?
I am also into vinyl. I've been collecting a little here and there for about 10 years. I have about 2000. I just purchased a copy of Buckingham/Nicks (Gatefold) for $20.00 last month at a record convention... Very NIIICE....
honestly, .
if you believe in the new world order, and that type of stuff.
do you believe the jw's were started or operate for some type of new world order experiment.
Honestly,
If you believe in the New World Order, and that type of stuff. Do you believe the JW's were started or operate for some type of New World Order experiment. ie: Jim Jones, Heaven's Gate. Which I think were govt. experiments...
Seriously...
I could be just reaching.

i am from houston texas, and i am 29 years of age.
i've been reading these message boards for about a year now and i figured it was time to post my story... me: i was raised in the jw religion, and attended meetings until about age 12. i stopped attending after my grandmother passed away from cancer.
No I'm pretty much a free-lance christian. But I love God and I love my family, and I love my life.
Not bad huh.. Everything has been pretty good this year (2002), but if something comes up, I'll have to face it..
About the cross; it could be my JW upbringing, but they kinda spook me anyway, so I choose not to have them or wear them. But it's not that big of a deal. But who needs all the symbolism, believe what you know.

Thanks Will,
Yes my friend was a great guy. He died one year ago yesterday. He was more of a father than my father. He was only 39, 39???? Can you imagine being middle aged at 19.5.. Man he taught me a lot.. How to work on a home, plumbing, carpentry. Good music, Jack Daniels..haha. But he enjoyed his whole life. Man what a cool guy.
P.S. It is also ok to say "Bless you," if someone sneezes.. It's called being nice. No matter what the words are.

Basically, I think God wants you to enjoy life within the boundaries he has set up for you. It isn't that difficult, quit trying to make it so hard. If you want to celebrate a birthday, drink a beer, or have people over for thanksgiving.. DO IT!! Who are you hurting? You're not doing it because it is Pagan. Who even thinks about that. You're doing these things because you love your family and friends, and you want them around. God wouldn't have given you the opportunity to have (and create) family, and make friends, if he didn't want you to. And to shun them???? If you are living right, you will surround yourself with the right people anyway.

Well, I've been working here for 3 years, and never once did they show up... Only after that night of praying. But I do know what you mean. Maybe they have bugged my house.
