Any born-ins have this attitude about converts?

so there was this great gang of us, from south london, manchester and wolverhampton, went to socialise with a group in fishguard in wales.. amongst the conversations one of the single sisters stated, "i could never marry anybody who used to be in the world".. i guess a lifetime of knocking on doors had given her the impression there couldnt possibly be a convert in her midst, never mind later alone with her in her mgb.. so whats with this, did you think we had rat scabies or were possesed by demons or something?.

I was a born in and left in my teens, returned in my 20’s and I can tell you for a fact, as much as I wanted a spiritual man (reacher-outer/MS) I was certainly considered not good enough by such because I had been “out there”. Now bear in mind I WAS NOT A HO while I was out, but the mere fact I was out at some point I had marks against me. I could have pioneered to kingdom come, I guarantee they would not touch me!

Immature "born-ins' tend to be elistist I think..

Year later in retrospect, thank goodness I got “passed over”. I would have not done very well as an elder’s wife…I am too uncontrollable. HA!

i don't know who on the board recommended it, but i just finished it in a day.

riveting read.

i had seen the documentary about the jonestown massacre years ago and deborah laytons book kind of brought out a different perspective as someone waking up and trying to escape.

I had seen the documentary about the Jonestown Massacre years ago and Deborah Layton’s book kind of brought out a different perspective as someone waking up and trying to escape. That was some scary madness.

I think this book is a great set up for Raven by Tim Reiterman, which is 600 pages long! I hear Raven is a real trip!!!

Just wanted to share my 2 bits and thank the person who recommended it on the thread.

I feel like I am recreating parts of my brain since I consciously decided to leave. Does that make sense. I feel like I have to open myself up to new thought, I am learning so much...and I can think so clearly....AHHHH!

A Perfect Mind? Or A Beautiful Mind based on the life of John Nash? If it’s the latter: YES! It’s part of my DVD collection and I am always amazed much of what me believed was all in his mind.

I have not heard the voices as an adult, but as a kid I heard voices all the time saying my name.

Oh..I do have a story. A sister in my hall went to NY and came back with photo of herself and 2 other sisters …the sister in the middle of the shot looked really of ODD. I asked the other sister what was wrong with her. She told me that the sister was once a special pioneer who had gotten some money from a suspected witch doctor (while she was pioneering in Haiti) and subsequently had problems with the demons. Now looking back I have to wonder is the sister actually had a progressive physical/or mental illness that caused her to look the way she did. But back then, I was gullible and I bought the story! At the same time, I don't mess with Haitians. Nice folk, but that ju-ju aint no joke!

Now..even though I understand the sleep paralysis, I will say I have had some ODD things happen to me…especially as a child, that to this day when I reflect on them, I get chills. I have had things happen as an adult. I remember one time wondering: “I must be crazy, because I swear I just heard my name called (by a very effeminate male voice) and there is no one in the room!!!”

I am leaning toward I must be crazy!!! LOL

I figured out the sleep paralysis thing years ago! You should see folks' face when the tell me the " demon sitting on chest story" after I explain sleep paralysis!
