sosoconfused mentioned this vaguely in his thread and it upset me... i asked him to post where i could find the information, trust me i went looking!

I posted the scenario to another forum yesterday where witnesses and non witnesses could respond. Some of the JWs were actually shocked that the Org took this stance, even AFTER they read the article. I got a few PMs and most JWs felt like this should be a conscience matter, between the couple and God. One person deeply in, from a family of diehards, thought it was absurd.

Then I had the hardcore JW mom of 2 kids conceived/born with no problems make a cold hard statement that “Jah thinks it’s porneia no matter what WE THINK!” I wanted to reach out and touch her real hard. I had to remind her that many bible examples committed grave sins and were FORGIVEN! Those are insensitive remarks I just let stand, so non-JWs can see of off base JW thinking can be.

Do Witnesses really want to go to the meetings?

do witnesses really want to go to the meetings?

or do they just go because they feel they must to get into the new world.

or is it just peer pressure or pressure of elders?

At first when I went back in, I craved the meetings because I had left “the world” and it was a new social connection. The longer I stayed in and over time I did not WANT to go. But I went because I was supposed to go. Because:

I did not want to appear spiritually weak

I was afraid if I did not go, then it would be harder to go to the next meeting

I was afraid to die in Armageddon

Other people depended on me to go

Best thing they ever invented: the ability to call in. Once I started doing that I was done!

i remember having been to a convention or a$$emby for however many days and when i came back i didn't want to go back to work/school because i felt on a buzz.. what was that all about????.

any ideas?

Snare! I think you hit the nail on the head! As an avid note taker I was amazed that I could only think of one or two things I got out of the CA/DCs.

This is the last thing I remember from a DC: "The toes don't matter!" I've blacked all the others out since. I was way too awake to "Safeguard My Heart" last year! LOL!

One wallet which doubles as a mini purse. I can chuck the big purse in the trunk and just carry this if I want to go out somewhere.

My psychedelic make-up bag

A mini purse for personal/ mini toiletries and girly stuff

My (ever present) journal

iPAD..

iPhone

…all crammed in a Guccisima! LOL!

I learned to put things in little carry alls and wallets. I think my purse is pretty organized, it’s not too big because then I would be adding shoes to the list J

i am so nervous,after thirty odd years in the "truth" i feel as though my husband and i have just walked into a room full of smiling strangers and we are just standing here hoping to god someone will come up and speak to us.

scared and excited and hoping to wake up one morning and not wonder what we do now???

I grew up in the Borg and dedicated 20 years to it.

When leaving it and faced with the question? “Where is there else to go”, frankly the first response I got from my gut was: Why DO I have to go anywhere? I already had a life, it was just constrained by a set of beliefs. Now I just need to EXPAND IT!

Of all the “Basic Bible Truths” that you've listed, for me the jury is out on most of them, because I am allowing myself to be open to all sets of beliefs now. The first thing I wanted to immerse myself into was reading the Bible without JW slant and I feel like (no offense meant) that some of those you’ve listed have that.

I think as JWs our ‘bible trained conscience’ has a huge and biased slant. I certainly don’t feel caught in the middle. I live my life more so now according to choice and consequences. I make good choices because they give good results. I am beginning to think I really don't need a "guide book" or a "religion to steer my life. I think we can be guides and our lives will reflect that. There IS something I think to go to and it’s a personal journey, where one ends up will be different for each person.

I dunno Punk, are you sure you were not just HIGH on cult over-indoctrination over a period of days? LOL!!!

Now I am looking back introspect…I was always EXHAUSTED by Sunday and I always had to take Monday off after a 3 day. I would work the Monday-Thursday…get up early Friday-Sunday. The desire not to go back to work was probably because I WAS TIRED and did not want to be around ANYONE, definitely not because of any spiritual high what-so-ever.

I was sad it as over because...because of seeing all my friends...but happy because I wanted to sleep!

if so, what would you consider important to have done or accomplished before you die so that 'your time alive' would not have been a total waste?.

if you haven't done it, or accomplished it, are you currently on a quest to do so?

I was just thinking about this just yesterday:

In 24 months I have left a long time career, my husband, my religion, and a longtime emotional situation. Most of these situations evolved on their own. I FEEL like all that has happened is some kind of shift in my life because I asked for “happiness” a few years ago. I had a near death experience and it changed my perspective on my life.

So I think that the shift is allowing me to definitely become a much more improved version of myself, almost like a ”Sophie 2.0” LOL!
I am becoming the person I have always wanted to be. I have crammed a lot into my life so far…I am being more selective about what experiences I want to have.

I feel so much more spiritual, smarter and wiser and happier and I feel like everything IS possible.

I am sure that it’s been happening and they have to address it, possibly because judgmental JWs are throwing stones at those who have made a decision to do IVF.

I recall having a conversation with a sister over this when I was in and at the time her answer was similar and seemed so profound to me. But I was young then, with hopes that I would be able to have a child with my JW hubby. That never happened.

Fast forward to today and now my life has changed and I am looking at the possibilities. I instantly RECOGNIZE the logic that this should be a matter of conscience.

And think about it, later they can spin it as: “Wait for the New System when your body is perfect and you can have children. You will be blessed because you have remained faithful to Jehovah.”
And then you’re beyond child-bearing age when your butt wakes up and you realize Paradise is not coming!!! W-T-H???

I would cut a GB Member!!!
