this site has been a source of tremendous encouragement for me.
i've been able to truly learn quite a bit since i've started coming here.
i've also found the courage that i need which will help me walk away from the jw organization in the very near future.

quoted below is the testimony of an ex-jw (one of the posters here) who faced the draft in the '60s.
notice the form of "alternative service" that he would've been required to do had he been drafted.
not civilian, but as one who would work in a military hospital ... which would be aiding the war effort -- a breach of one's neutrality.. .
Now after that obscene display he quotes the Soldiers Creed, part of which reads:
“Because I am proud of the uniform I wear, I will always act in ways creditable to the military service and the nation it's sworn to guard. … No matter what the situation I am in, I will never do anything for pleasure, profit, or personnal safety, which will disgrace my unit or my country. I will use every means I have even beyond the line of duty, to restrain my army comrades from actions disgraceful to themselves and the uniform.”I guess his excuse for not living up to the “Soldiers Creed” might be that he’s no longer a soldier?
You still talking?? Don't even discuss that creed until you go out and learn what Honor is, because you discussing that is an insult to everyone who does and has ever wore the uniform.
Far as the time magazine pic goes... The gesture is in line with what most people would think of you.
So, now I will not post anymore to your childish dribble.

It's really neat that you don't want to kill me. You learned too much from the JWs to want to do that, didn't you.
Is that the best you can come up with? It is not human nature to just want to kill people so no this has nothing to do with the JWs at all.
Right! That would be Jehovah God and his son Jesus Christ. While I do believe in god and his son Jesus obviously, in the situation of what makes our country free and keeps it that way makes your point there irrelevant.
Below is what keeps our country free, and allow you to continue serving the Governing Body of Brooklyn New York.
Soldiers Creed
"I am an American Soldier. I am a member of the United States Army a protector of the greatest nation on earth. Because I am proud of the uniform I wear, I will always act in ways creditable to the military service and the nation it's sworn to guard."I am proud of my own organization. I will do all I can to make it the finest unit in the army. I will be loyal to those under whom I serve. I will do my full part to carry out orders and instructions given to me or my unit."
"As a soldier, I realize that I am a member of the time honored profession that I am doing my share to keep alive the principales of freedom for which my country stands. No matter what the situation I am in, I will never do anything for pleasure, profit, or personnal safety, which will disgrace my unit or my country. I will use every means I have even beyond the line of duty, to restrain my army comrades from actions disgraceful to themselves and the uniform. I am proud of my country and it's flag. I will try to make the people of this nation proud of the service I represent for I am an American Soldier"
Now that is what freedom is all about. Have a Nice Day

last night (9:30pm est), courttv did a story of a woman who left home when she was a teenager.. she got involved with drugs and prostitution.. she soon gave birth to a child.. she stopped using drugs and quit being a prostitute and took up a job as a waitress.. she now gave birth to a son.. fast forward six years.... she began studying with jehovah's witnesses.. she was applying for something (maybe welfare, i'm not sure.
i ran to use the bathroom during the commercials and when i came back out the narrator had already said what she was trying to apply for).. the narrator said that whatever she was applying for required that she disclose who the father is and explain why she is not collecting child support.. the father of her son was a married police officer who had an established family and a distinguished career.. she consulted the elders as to what she should do.
they told her that she needs to be honest and that she shouldn't lie on the application.. so, she set up a meeting with the baby's daddy (the cop).
Very sad. The hell of it is though if the cop who was the father thought it was gonna screw up his life by people finding out about this child, what the hell did he think was gonna happen if he killed her?? Some people just don't think.

i just discovered this place tonight.
i've been out of the "truth" (haha) for about 12 years and had no idea there were such places like this.
i'm sure that this could have helped me through my 5 year post df depression.
Welcome gsx1138!
You will find this forum a wonderful place and as well as the people in it.

it would seem to me that an organization that preaches so strongly about brotherly love could be so prejudice.. i have been d/f for just about seven years, and it wasn't until a couple of years ago that this occured to me.
remember how we couldn't spend time with people from school because they were "bad association"?
or you werent supposed to spend too much time with "worldly" relatives because they might be a bad influence?.
Welcome,
It is ridiculous the way they get even family members to shun one another. Truly the organization is not worth the space they take up. Nobody should be allowed to adversely effect so many peoples lives.

my 11 yr old has this passion for blowing out the candles on other people's birthday cakes.
having been deprived of the fun for 10 yrs...she now likes to get up close to the birthday child (or adult) and she likes to blow with all her might...i smile at her innocence.. when she turned 11 she had her first birthday..the cake..candles.. friends..presents..all the trimmings.
once a year isn't enough for her however...and she is now making up for lost time.. two nights ago we went to our friend's birthday party for their 5 yr old.
That's totally cute. I was fortunate to have gotten out a year before my oldest (now 12) was born. I can honestly say though I never had a birthday cake until I was 29 years old when my current wife got me one..LOL Course it would have been a cool thing as a kid, but I am happy my kids don't have to go through that strangeness as I did.

Can't argue with the logic on that one. Oh well to hell with the little dirtbag.
