25 years ago I was on the air and got contacted out of the blue by a program director at a radio station in Kansas City. He offered me a very good opportunity, so I took it. I moved out to KC with nothing more than $100 in my pocket.
I had a blast! I immediately started making new friends and having fun. It is the best decision I ever made and although I no longer live there, it is still affecting my life. Kansas City is where I raised my son. He grew up to marry a fine KC woman and now I have a KC grandbaby. Kansas City is also where I met my future husband 23 years ago. We got married in Kansas City 3 weeks ago. My only regret is that it took me 23 years to say yes to his proposal.
If you are having a strong urge to move, I encourage you whole heartedly to do so. I am a firm believer that a strong hunch is a good indicator that things could take a turn for the better if you take that first brave step.

I need a show of hands: who believes the Bible and to what extent?
by Terry ini'll start off.. i don't believe anything is divine about bible writings.
i believe there may be some marginal history although not much.
i think alot of folk tales and regional myths are contained in the old testament.

LV101, thank you for your kind post. Perhaps one day I will talk about the experience on this forum. But since the experience also includes many embarrassing things, I am not ready to post about it and have only told 2 or 3 friends about it throughout the years. Even they were alarmed at first.
However, I do want to encourage everybody to "be real" with God and to not be afraid to tell him exactly how you feel. Dont hold back and feel free to use the most colorful language you feel like using to get your point across. I do believe that God listens. I also believe that sometimes we are able to tune in to this creative spirit and find an answer.

Just a side thought, A. Federson:
God may be pure love but I didn't find God that way--through love. When I was an atheist, just in case my believing friends were correct, I would daily give God the finger and tell him how much I hated him. Absolutely hated him and would prefer to worship the devil, whom I also did not believe in. I just hated the thought of God and couldnt understand why anybody would believe in such a worthless piece of you know what. That went on for quite some time until one day a peace like I have never known came over me. I wont go into anymore detail about the experience because I don't want to bore you and I don't feel like being roasted by the members of this forum.

No apology needed. Also, I realized after I posted that I probably came across as a little snotty and edited my post. So I hope you accept my apology too. I enjoy reading your thoughts and appreciate our conversation.

A. Fenderson:
Prior to that, I did ask why God chooses to ignore the vast majority of us, and by that I meant essentially: why do some non-believers, such as yourself, have religious experiences that they are quite sure are instances of God contacting them, while the majority of us don't? That seems, for lack of a better term, unfair on God's part.
Besides, perhaps God's enigmatic nature is for his amusment and not ours.
That sounds like a parent who has two small children and acts very lovingly and caring towards one of them, while acting inconsistently towards the other, for no other reason than to amuse himself. Beyond petty.
I have been recently musing over the thought that just because we have been taught that God is pure love doesnt' mean that it's true, does it?
It certainly doesn't sound like your version of God is. You seem to have a very unique take on him/her/it, at least in contrast to the general understanding of the universally-accepted qualities of the God of Christianity. Yours sounds far more like the YHWH of old--he was all about helping the chosen ones, at the expense of their neighbors
Well, since I haven't told you what my version of God is, I think that we just found out what your version of God is. And to YOU God sounds more like the YHWH of old.
All I stated was that I was recently musing over the thought that just because we have been taught that God is pure love might not mean that it's true. I haven't reached my decision on that and don't know if I ever will. Not having the answers doesn't bother me. Besides, it is just one of the many questions I have asked myself since I had to disregard everything I was taught and start over from scratch.
Anyway, with all due respect and the acknowledgment that I could be incorrect, it seems to me that you think God is some sort of little bitch just because he isn't doing what you tell him to do. I have a different opinion about God. And I think we are both entitled to our own opinions

It's been 3 weeks and I am still happily married to Mr. Robdar. It didn't take that long for me to reconsider my last marriage which finally ended 7 years ago after 14 years of marital hell.
