yup, that's right.. if we apply the principle from god's own law at deuteronomy 22:8, that is.. .

"when you build a new house, you must build a railing around the edge of its flat roof.

So, since the jewish take on genesis is that it's allegorical stories, what is their take on the god about whom the stories are supposedly told? It is supposedly, their god, afterall.

We think whatever we want to think. There is no set dogma. It is up to each and every Jew to read and ponder scripture. Torah studies welcome all opinions and no Jew is allowed to tell another Jew that their opinion of God is not valid. Now, we might argue and hash out what another Jew has said but that is only for intellectual stimulation and to further our own understanding.

Being a reformed Jew is unbelievably easy on the mind unless the Jew wants to complicate things for himself. If that's the case, that's okay too.

We can perhaps forgive Jehovah for the deaths of Adam and Eve, since they made their own choice (although Deuteronomy offers no exceptions, so I'm not sure Jehovah deserves this leniency, according to the letter of His law) but Adam's billions of descendants had no choice and no fault. It was Jehovah's design flaw. He could easily have prevented their "fall" and the totally unfair and unneccessary cascade effect of death, but he didn't.
So, he's bloodguilty and must die.

Only if you believe in original sin. And only if you interpret scripture literally, as most fundamentalists do. However, what if you have made an error in judgment and the stories are not true and are merely allegorical and/or metaphorical?

I know you are trying to leave the JW's behind but you will not be able to do that until you stop thinking like one.

Now when it comes to picking the Jews as his covenant people, G-d really did fail to put up the safety railing and the Jews fell off the roof many times, but then God had to know that would happen,- he is omniscient, right?

My rabbi in Kansas City had an interesting opinion about the diaspora. He said that we are not to mourn because it is something that has helped the Jews to survive and influence other cultures.

Buried my father today

i mostly post fluff and music posts on this thread more often now but just thought i would let some people here who still know me about what has been goin on with me recently.

my dad about a 7 month battle with lung cancer which metastasized to the bones and he died early wed morning.

my dad was a fascinating man, complex, sometimes open and sometimes a very aloof and detached person.

lets face it, we don't know what humans are.

science is doing a good job at uncovering many facts about us, but even science cannot explain consciousness yet.

conciousness is still a strong mystery to us.

Another love story:

My father was home on leave and attended a dance with a woman he had dated before he joined the Air Force. My mother happened to be at that dance with the man she was dating at the time. My father took one look at my mother and forgot all about the woman he had brought with him to the dance. He went over and started talking to my mother, which didn't please her guy friend too much. Anyway, long story short, mom and dad wound up leaving the dance together to go get a Coke. At the soda fountain he asked my mother if he could see her again. Mom told him she would love to see him again and so the next night my dad came calling.

They saw each other everynight for the following week. On the night before dad was to return to base in California, he asked my mother to marry him. Even though they had only been dating 8 days, my mother said yes. So, they picked up my grandmother (dad's mom) and his best friend for witnesses and then went to a Justice of the Peace to marry them.

They have been married for close to 53 years.

I almost died laughing a couple of weeks ago when dad told me, "Your mother may gripe my ass at times but she is still the sweetest thing in my life. She is my soulmate."

Life and love is strange and wonderful.

Oh yes. Yes, it is.

It always gives me goosebumps when I hear of similar stories to mine. I am so happy for you that after 30 years you are finallly connected with your soul mate. I truly believe if love is meant to be there will be no denying it. It will come no matter how long it takes.

I just knew that my Mr Wonderful, my soulmate, love of my life, was around the corner.

I loved reading your sweet love story. Isn't it amazing how you could feel your future beloved getting closer? It's almost like a supernatural experience and is very hard to explain to somebody else. I truly think our souls have knowledge that our brains do not. Somehow you just know that the love of your life is coming.
