Absolutism! (good vs evil)

i have noticed alot friends here lately posing the question of things being good and bad etc.

so here is my question.

is there such a thing as absolute good, absolute evil, absolute anything?.

Bleep, there is some good advice in that article. But it refuses to give the most important information on the subject. Namely, if your child has been molested, from touching the sexual organs right on up through rape, a crime has been committed. The authorities (read: police and Child Protective Services) must be notified immediately. An arrest may well need to be made. It is not up to the parents to decide what happens to the molester. That's for the courts to determine. It's not up to the KH elders, either. They lack the knowledge and the authority to deal with this. It's none of their business. It's not up to the WBTS or its representatives. A crime has been committed. There is a judicial process that must be followed. Failure to do so is also a crime -- obstruction of justice. Failure to report the crime is aiding and abetting the criminal.

They left that out of the article. Why do you think that is?

the 'NEW LIGHT'

considering the past beliefs of jws & the new & improved current beliefs, some changes i can recall are: the cross, smoking, what is actually 'porneia', the end --->1914, no wait... 1935... we mean 1975... well what we really meant was by y2k... by the time this generation passes away, yada, yada.... also blood issues, organ doning, who will & won''t be resurrected- what others can you all think of?.

my question is this: if jws are led by god's spirit & the org is the true channel god is using, why did the 'light' need to get brighter?

why was is it wrong in the first place?.

I was told'Do you really think Jehovah would let them run his organisation if they're as bad as you say?' !!!! How the hell do you answer such twisted reasoning??!!

I answer, "Since it's painfully obvious they are as bad as I say, do you really think the organization they're running is Jehovah's organization, or that he has anything to do with them?" In other words, no, I don't think God lets them run His organization. Simple as that.

here is what this "special topic" describes with deadly false propaganda.. "a person might ask why we would single out the witnesses in this matter.

as with other fundamentalist cults, the watchtower goes by the bible advice only when it comes to exposing crimes regarding children or anyone else, that there must be two or more witnesses to a crime.

since abuse and molestation are rarely seen by anyone other than the perpetrator and the victim (and the victim will rarely testify against himself), perhaps hundreds or thousands of cases have gone unpunished, and the perpetrator has not been brought to the police, and the congregation has not been told.

Well, do you think the entries in that guestbook wrote themselves? I'd say the guestbook is evidence that the problem is real. As for the news, did you see the Dateline NBC program? (http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=30953&site=3) There will be more stories about this in the media. There will be lawsuits, followed by more media coverage. This is all very far from over.

WTS changes to 1999 CD-ROM and past...

hey all,.

if anyone remembers off the top of their head about changes that the 1999 cd-rom from the wts had, vs past cd-roms and/or printed volumes from past awakes/watchtowers....please pass them on to me.. i'll be visiting a friend soon, overseas, that's a loyal jw... we've been talking a bit, and i perceive him to be open minded in that he'll listen to me to a certain extent.

as long as i can provide proof from the wts that they have changed things as their "trooth" changes, maybe he'll open up his mind a bit and realize what's going on.. he's already a bit upset with them, because right after he finished his jail term for refusing millitary service, the wts changed that policy.... cheers,.

Does Disfellowshipping violate the Constitution?

maybe this is just my observation but.... with the exception of crimal offenses, is not disfellowshiping by the wts unconstitutional?

at the very least they violate the right to freedom of speech.

(i know about the separation of church and state...).

Doesn't violate the constitution anymore than letting an employee go or kicking a member out of a club for infringement of rules. As far as i can see.

Sadly, I think you're right. In court, the obvious question would be, "What real power does the WBTS have to make people refuse to associate with ex-members?" Without the willing participation in shunning by the rank and file, the whole sick practice would collapse. Easy to say from the outside, I know. The JW's really believe they have to go along with this policy. It can't be easy to imagine being the one to stand up and refuse to play along. The normal human instinct is to go along to get along. Remember the TV show "Candid Camera"? Alan Funt was once interviewed by Psychology Today about what he learned from doing the show. He said the biggest surprise to him was how very willing people are to obey authority -- any authority, no matter how outrageous the demand or how little proof was given of the reality of the "authority". For example, they once set up a roadblock on a country road at the state line. They put two men in state trooper suits (no badges, of course) and had them turn motorists around by saying, "Sorry, the state of Tennesee is closed today." Nobody questioned how a state could be closed down, or asked to see their badges. They just turned around, cursing their bad timing.
