That was an elaboration.
I just think its amusing that you're addressing your questions to "Xtians" on this board.

Hi, Lee:
I'll take the liberty of posting your message to H2O as well:

Good information.

UO:
If you are seeking belief, the only thing I can say is to investigate the pro-belief studies along with the skeptic beliefs. If you focus only on the skeptics and their arguments against the belief, that is what you will become--I can almost guarantee it.
"The one who first states a case seems right, until the other comes and cross-examines."--Prov.18:17
Are you giving equal attention to the arguments of Believers as you are, say, to the points of Thomas Paine? Are you posting your questions to some forums where there are more believers than here? What has indicated to you that you are going to get good "believer" support on this forum? Are you being honest with yourself about what you are really trying to prove?
These are honest questions, too.

Uncle Onion:
It would help, if you are really interested, to delve into understanding Jewish perception. It was a lot different than "Western thinking". Course it calls for a freer mind than Kent's nationalistic bigotry toward "Americans." But, then, I think you have that.
Dear lauralisa:
I was associated with various religions before becoming a JW. Mostly fundamentalists as a teenager. The most influencial was an off-shoot of the Church of Christ.
You seem to be one searching. Post me privately at:

Same answer as last time.
It was recorded after Abraham. In fact, it was probably recorded after David. Kind of like when historians and evolutionists write about what was happening with humankind in England and China while the civilizations in Mesapotamia were bursting into existence.
here's some thing right from the official jw site under fequently asked questions.. do you shun former members?.
those who simply cease to be involved in the faith are not shunned.
in compliance with the scriptures, however, members can be expelled for serious unchristian conduct, such as stealing, drunkenness, or adultery, if they do not repent and cease such actions.
Seeker:
They are LYING and you know it. They even shun people who have NOT faded away. (silentlambs is but one example). Shunning is their major weapon of control and they use it in every way possible to keep the ranks in obediance. Don't even tryyy to tell me the leadership is not fully aware that their "regular publishers" class are programmed to shun people, including family, for simply becoming "inactive" in many cases. If they know it is going on and don't publish something to correct the situation, they are guilty!

It is an unmitigated, pure, bald-faced, unadulterated LIE!!!
AND THEY KNOW IT!!! No JW or exJW is so ignorant as to believe that preposterous balogne. What is amazing is how they get away with such hypocracy in view of the fact that every JW/exJW KNOWS its not true! It makes JWs "sharers in the lie" imo.
(And this is in my good mood.)
here's your chance to complement a poster whose posts make you think, make you mad, make you laugh, make you cry.
i usually find something that i dig in everybody's post around these parts.
but i'll single out some peeps in particular.
It was a little over 5 years ago that I discovered the Internet.
Like so many, even tho I had been out for years, first thing I typed into a search engine was "Jehovah's Witnesses". Wow!
First sites I saw were Kent's Watchtower Observer and JanH's All Along the Watchtower. Those two kept coming up! I was fascinated. Looked at their personal profiles with interest. Kent's page invited readers to "Post me if you want". I did. It was the first e-mail I ever sent anyone. Imagine my amazement at receiving a reply in a short time, all the way from Norway. Wow! Almost better than telephone! What fun!
Next I very cautiously posted the administrator of Jesus-Witnesses and asked about subscribing to the list. I didn't even know what that meant. To my amazement I found many of my friends already there: Jim Penton, AlanF, Kent and JanH were there, and other people I had met at BRCI.
Within one week, I read the symptoms of Internet addiction, and I had every one of them, BIG time. My life has never been the same since.
Within 6 months, I introduced my own website with its own domain, and within a year my own exJW discussion lists. It was quite a bit later that I got interested in H2O, but I found a lot of my friends already there as well.
So, for those on this list along the way, I want to thank (not necessarily in this order), Kent, JanH, AlanF, and Norm. "thanks for the memories". (Shades of Jes-Wit and Philia--and the Elders' manual <grin>) Kent was supportive of newbie-me starting Beacon website.
Later on, Amazing whom he and I discovered we had already known each other via correspondence for some years even before the Internet.
COMF for his balanced temperament.
Applause for Rick (Derrick) for his success with H2O. I don't think any other board drew as much attention from Brooklyn. I hope this one will. Thank you Simon.
LiberalElder for bringing the blood issue to world attention.
SilentLamb for bringing the issue of child abuse to world attention
Maximus, GodBless
All the newer ones and lurkers--especially those in Brooklyn.
And all of you whom I have met, both on-line and off, along the way, thanks for the memories.
I'm one who is glad I was a JW, because my favorite people are exJWs.
interesting profile in the 2/15/2000 watchtower (pp.26-29) praising a 17th-century orthodox church patriarch who was murdered and thrown to the sharks for attempting to effect reform in his church.

Esther:
In my opinion, the Watchtower Society knows VERY WELL that most householders who "take the magazines" don't read them. Especially the Watchtower. Why? Because of organizational stuff like this was about that is intended only for members. The Watchtower is full of JW stuff that Witnesses conducting "Bible" studies actually refrain from revealing to potential JWs until they are sufficiently hooked.
The door-to-door work is not to generate Bible reading, as the WTS claims, it is to sell magazines and books through a force of unpaid labor. Everything they publish is an instant "best seller" by default.
