I recall when visiting my sis & bro-in-law at Bethel that there was a library that was open to visitors but mainly used by Bethelistes. However, they brought us to another "secret" library where we got a see some rare WT stuff. One item was a Bethel Christmas card with a picture of the Bethelites eating Christmas dinner.

my husband and i are throwing around the idea of moving to a different state.
nothing is set in stone yet, but some changes in his career may allow for us to move wherever we like in the u.s. i love washington state, but i would like to move somewhere a little warmer.
i've lived in washington all my life and i need a little help in learning about the rest of the u.s.. so convince me to move to your state.
I live in Chicago. Well, hum...It´s about 0 degrees right now. We have a corruption tax of several thousand dollars a year per person, no one really knows for sure (that´s the assumed cost of the Daley administration´s payments to friends, family, mafioso types etc.) The Cubs will break your heart every year. Our last governor is in jail for selling driver´s licenses to truckers who couldn´t pass the test or didn´t care to try. Our current governor is going to jail (my opinion, too long a story, let´s just say his little daughter got a $1500 check for her birthday from a ´friend´who had just landed a government job, cool huh?) Can´t park anywhere. Cops are really rude, intimidating and vulgar at times. They like to drive on the sidewalk right behind you, while you scurry out of their way. God help you if you give them a dirty look for that. Michael Jordan is just a dream. When the cold leaves there will be about 30 minutes of nice temperatures before a heat wave of 90 degrees sets in.
On the bright side, if you like Vietnamese, Indian, Korean,Polish or any other kind of food you can get it. There´s a lot of work and I love hearing all the foreign languages spoken around me. It´s still a Midwestern town, so people are closer to being friendly, even though it´s a big city. It´s close to my parents (whoops, you don´t know them, they´re nice folks though, you should really stop by and have a chat with them.)
LOL! Born, raised in the western burbs (lnow in the far west burb) but you're right about Chicago & IL in general. Even with all the curruption, IMO Chicago is the best city in the country. The culture, food, sports, music, lakeshore drive, etc.. but still the feel of a midwestern town. The skyline alone is simply awesome. One bit of advice though, give up on the Cubs.
Regarding the curruption in government here in Illinois, it's just become a way of life. Kinda sad. I believe (esp. in Chicago) that people simply feel as long as the roads are plowed, garabage is picked up and crime is low that someone needs to get their palm greased. It simply amazes me that year after year the Feds come in, bust a buch of crooked politicians but still the next batch are just as bad. Case in point, out current gov.

I had two grandfathers who were in the Dutch military fighting the the Japanese in Indoesia. One was captured and killed, the other wasn't but from the few accounts he's shared with the family it truly amazes me how brutal the Japanese were.

Exactly. Like I said before, I live in the second fastest growing county in the U.S. yet the local congregation is the same size as it was 10 years ago.

Though I have read that Bush is the only president that will pass part of a legislation and just ignore the parts he doesn't agree with, which may be his way out of Impeachment.
Wrong. The president, unlike most state govenors, does not have line item veto power.
Either way, I think he certainly has more that given enough crimes to Impeach upon, whether he will or not is up to the Democratic Senate. It should be an interesting couple of years starting in January.
Can you list these impeachable crimes? I mean, c'mon, do you REALLY believe that Bush knew full well that Iraq DIDN'T have WMD yet went in front of the world and claimed that they did? He knew that troops would soon be all over Iraq looking for these WMD. Why make such an easy to prove false claim?
What instead happened was that Bush allowed faulty intel to guide his policy. Clinton & Company did the same thing. Stupid.
Trial for impeachment won't happen. Instead the court of world history will judge Bush as making one of the worst military decision in modern history. The U.S. came out the big looser while Iran is the big winner.

Exactly. I have no problem putting Bush & Co. on trial for executing a poorly thought out plan that resulted in the deaths of thousands of people but along side him I want to see all those who voted for the war along with the likes of Ted Kennedy who is boarderline treasonist.
