  So is America finally getting wiser? Who still believes this nonsense?

  washington (afp) - for the first time since it began, a majority of americans believe the iraq war is not part of the war on terrorism, as us president george w. bush keeps insisting it is, according to a poll.. fifty-one percent of the 1,206 adults surveyed in the august 17-21 new york times/cbs news poll believed the two wars were separate, while 44 percent saw a link between them.

  in june, opinion was split evenly at 41 percent..

  Are you guys saying you would rather have Iraq in the hands of Syria and Iran by next January? Really???

  Well, unfortunately, by Bush's & Dumsfeld's poor planning of the war, we have just about given Iran control of the region.

  And regarding poll questions. I really wish they would break it down into several questions, not just "do you support the war." Using minimum troops to secure Iraq, going in alone, not having clear goals and an exit plan, not having in place a plan to set up a government, poor military tactics in urban areas, etc...etc. all have led to this mess.

  From the beginning we should have had 500,000 troops there, we should NOT have disbanded the Iraqi army, we SHOULD have secured the borders, etc.. What was Bush thinking?? Didn't he realize that you can't play war on the cheap? It'll only cost you more in the end.

  It's obvious that the people of Iraq don't want what the U.S. is offer and our soldiers are dying for. At this point in time Iraq should be divided into three regions - Kurds, Sunnis & Shittes and we should leave.

  Funny....my ex, who's still a faithful JW, and I were just talking about this. Not sure what brought it up but I asked her if mentally ill people were attracted to the WatchTower or did the Watchtower make people mentally ill. I have to admit, she had a good answer. She said that a lot of people are attracted to the WT because for the first time in their lives they feel appreciated.

  Great place to raise kids I suppose, surrounded by mentally unstable people.

  V for Vendetta-similarities in the government and WTBTS?

  just saw the movie v for vendetta, about a totalitarian government in the near-future england.

  somehow it reminded me of the wtbts, in that whenever something happened, they would have the media "spin" it to cast events in the best light for the government, and the worst for whoever else might be involved.

  anyone opposed to the government was automatically a criminal, terrorist, etc.

  Group of Native Americans from Kansas were able to claim in court that their decents lived here in northern Illinois up to about 150 years ago. They are now able to buy the land here and put another casino. Tax free and the local yocals can do sh*t about it.

  There was a segment on Dateline about this a while ago. It gave the example of one guy who was 30 years old who started dating a woman in his neighbourhood who he thought was about 22 or 23. After a few months, she finally told him she was only 16. He knew he should break it off at that point, but he was already in love with her and they continued on. That is, until her father found out, pressed charges and the poor bugger went to prison for 3 years and is now a registered sex offender. Even the girl went to court on his behalf to emphasize that she had led him to believe she was older, that he did not coerce her in any way, that she was in love with him and she slept with him willingly.

  Sorry but I agree with the court. Someone who's 30 has no business messing around with a 16 year old.

  Yes, they took away his OWN kid because he is not allowed contact with ANY children, not even his own, even though his "victim" was 17.

  Hmmmm....something doesn't make sense. I don't believe that sex offenders have their own children taken away. As a matter of fact, sex offenders here in Illinois are barred from being on school grounds unless they're attending a school event that their kids are participating in. I was told this by a police officer because I was coaching my son's football team and one of his teammates has a father who's a sex offender. I spoke with the local police and they told me he was allowed to be at the games.

  This person starts watching and sees this toddler and reports him. Now the baby has to live with the grandparents and the wife has to divide her time between her parents home with the baby and her own home with her husband.

  I don't get this part. They take away his OWN kid?

  On the other hand, I have heard of cases where an 18 or 19 year old male is dating a 16 or 17 year old and her parents get pissed and call the cops. As a matter of fact, a friend of mine did an online search and a neighbor's name popped up. She laer found the details (spoke with him) and it was just that. Now he has it on his record as a sex offender. On the other hard, these are a very small percentage and some type of change to the law show be made to take into consideration such rare cases.
